    Thanks so much for these videos! You’re one of the only CZcamsrs that shows cleaning true hoards! Thanks to you I started cleaning my hoarded apartment today and made lots of good progress. I’ve been through a lot in the last two years I don’t go in detail but this really inspired me because I am able-bodied, and just knowing that it can be done when I see much worse( mines bad and disgusting but no infestations… YET!) has inspired me! Six bags of garbage and junk out today! And three loads of laundry sorted through! Thank you!

    • @brightstarlit
      @brightstarlit Před rokem +91

      Update: Day two. Another 10 40 gallon BAGS of garbage and three large boxes of trash and junk out! Well, not out because our dumpster is full so that is kind of slowing me down as I have nowhere to put them but my kitchen. So I cannot finish the kitchen yet. Washed and dried folded all of my laundry, probably 8 or 9 loads, now they are on the couch. Still need to clean and wipe my dresser out. Bedroom is completely cleared aside from my closet. One bathroom is completely scrubbed, and cleaned top to bottom, bathroom rugs washed and dry. Good as new. Bathroom two only needs to be wiped down and mopped. Still need to wash bedding, vacuum and dust. One spare room with all my music gear and computer desk is left after that. I’d say I’m about 80% there, but even if someone came over it wouldn’t be the end of the world as the garbage is all gone, and that is the biggest relief ever. I feel like I can live happy again. I plan to finish much of this tomorrow as I have Covid (very mild) and am out sick for the week. Anyway thanks so much again for the inspiration, cleaning tips and tricks, it truly has changed my life for the better!

    What I really appreciate about your videos so far is that you are not drowning them in loud background music like a lot of other people do with whatever videos they are uploading. Most videos that have background music, I have to mute the video because the music just triggers migraines for me but I like to hear what's going on rather than always muting most of the videos I watch. I like the natural sound of things, like when you throw things in the garbage bags, walk around, sweep...it sounds weird, but I just appreciate that the video has raw sound and not full of background music. So just wanted to say thank you for that. 😊

    Watching this kind of makes me sad. Knowing that that poor woman was living like this, and that the death of her boyfriend probably made her hoarding worse. I have watched so many episodes of Hoarders where the reason it got bad was due to the loss of a loved one. You are wonderful for doing this for people. It can be so overwhelming when you step into a situation like that.

      @@DragonNinja4680it's often not depression or giving up but actual hoarding, possibly tied in with OCD, feeling like you CAN'T get rid of things. You don't give up but begin to care deeply...about stuff, or about using stuff to "do magic" to protect loved ones. Sometimes I think if I give stuff away it will make family members die. Then you have to spend all your energy just moving around the house, you can't clean it when there's stuff everywhere, and it takes 10x as long

What a blessing you are to these people ❤️ l had a cleaning business for years with my best friend and we were asked to do a hoarder house for a family that got CPS Called..and her friend that asked us to help knew we would go in with no judgements and compassion..lt was by far the most rewarding job we ever did and lady was so embarrassed to even have us come to her home and we reassured her that she should not be at all..we wanted to help her..and it took us the first day over 10 hours with two of working just to clean the kitchen 4 hours of that was washing dishes alone..and we even we out and bought a new rug and some small decor to freshen up the kitchen..and I will never forget her husband coming home and saying to his wife ' l can make a sandwich in our kitchen for the first time in over 7 years"!! That touched us so much..and made it so worth all the hard work!! 💙 something so simple and most just take for granted we can do daily in our kitchen..that family also became such good friends of ours..the mom was one of the most amazing ..Beautiful person I have even gotten to meet!! But was struggling with depression..so please never judge anyone you never know what someone is going thru just offer some help and you will be the one that feels do blessed by given the opportunity to do so..

    I had a situation where I was immobile due to 2 herniated disks + extreme sciatica, lost my job and most of my life savings due to partner at company cashing everything out and leaving the country. I had a dog and 2 cats and couldn't afford to buy them proper toilet supplies... a helper at the very beginning clogged up the drains with non-degrading kitty litter and I basically just gave up for 6 straight months. Of course, I wanted to be surrounded by a nice neat and tidy house just as it had always been... but the prospect of getting up and doing anything especially when I couldn't use the kitchen sink.... dunno... circle of despair. It got worse and worse to the point where I just literally didn't want to even get out of bed (which at that point was the living room couch pillows spread on the floor). I finally got a job in my field (mostly online work at home) and was able to pay a company to come just throw everything out. I won't lie I did tell the company it was a hoarder house and I was renting it out to someone... but man.. it took them an entire day and like 22 50 gallon bags of trash. Thankfully I had re-homed the pets months earlier but there was ashamedly feces and urine stains pretty much everywhere imaginable. Thankfully the house was mostly porcelain tile and I was just able to send out the rugs for some deep cleaning and pet stain treatment. All in all... pretty shit experience but it taught me to tackle projects in small portions and made me realize that it's never too late or too much.. one little corner at a time and you get it done eventually.

    What a wonderful man. We all have disabilities and learning to work within out abilities rather than focus on disabilities is what makes each of us stronger as an individual. Working together, combining our strengths, builds our communities and enriches us all.

    Well i take that back !! I washed the dishes ONCE when i was 5 years old & by the time i was 15 i had forgotten how to do it because i hadn’t done it in so long !! My mom cleaned EVERYTHING in the household!! She wouldn’t let me touch anything to clean it , because she thought i’d do it wrong , in that sense i was spoiled for YEARS!! We didn’t have maids or anything but I didn’t learn how to mop floors until i got a job in high school at Burger King & then later McDonald’s!! I almost PASSED OUT after i mopped the floors there the first time at 18, because i had NEVER mopped a floor before in my life and i was EXTREMELY EXHAUSTED afterwards at closing time lol!! I only stayed in that job for a year but it was the HARDEST job i EVER did, for very little pay !! I appreciate every restaurant workers efforts , and cleaners too because i know the toll it takes on them, et cetera & the physical drain !! I like your videos because you make it look easy & fast, but i know it takes time to get those homes in good shape!! Ironically, i’m in my 40s now and i’m STILL learning things about how to do cleaning homes, vehicles, items, etc!! That probably sounds insane, but it’s true!! . . . I’ll admit it now !! I had a Very Strange Childhood, partly spoiled/ & very much clueless how much work goes into all these jobs !! I’m learning NOW though, hopefully making up for my past mistakes (i hope , finally!!) and for my naïveté back then about working !!

    I'm kinda OCD on being clean. People think my house is immaculate, it isn't. It is very clean but believe me I have my secrets. I couldn't imagine living like a hoarder. You are a sweetheart for what you do.
    Stay well and God bless you.

    What you are doing is so very kind and generous. My spouse and I are in our mid & late 60's and are looking toward our end of life. We aren't hoarders but have accumulated lots of stuff that we have purchased and received as gifts that we will never use. We lost a son his wife and our grandchildren more than 25 years ago and we had to go through their home and clear out their belongings-which was the hardest thing we've ever had to do. I don't want to leave that task to our children but with our age and mobility issues I see no other option. I am a very clean person and work every day to keep things as clean as possible but there is so much that we need to do something with, things that may be worth something and others that may be worth nothing. I don't want to leave that burden to our remaining children, yet I see no alternative.

    • @Julia-en1ok
      @Julia-en1ok Před rokem +8

      Maybe let children know to come get what they want on one certain day. Then, after that, donate the rest to charities. That way, they are not stuck with it later on in future.

      Look up how to do Swedish Death Cleaning. I’m in the process of de-hoarding, myself, as I near 50. It’s a decluttering method that sounds like it’s useful for what you’d like to do. I hope that helps!

      @chreudinegueur6367 Před rokem +3

      The CZcams channel "a slob comes clean" has a very gentle yet practical approach to decluttering, and it's easy to do it bit by bits. She (Dana K. White) calls it her "no mess decluttering technique". Maybe that could be helpful. And also: so sorry for your loss. Good on you for wanting to think of the next generation

      My husband died a year ago and left me in a deep depression. I went overboard on getting canning supplies and listening to the doomsday preppers and as a result I don’t really have much room for anything else now but my youngest son and I have started going through the house and garage so he isn’t left with doing it all after I’m gone. It makes both of us happy that he won’t be left with it all.

      My mom is in her late sixties and has mobility issues. She has just been going through her stuff bit by bit for about 4 years now. She whittles it down slowly, but if you compared what she has now to 4 years ago, she has downsized by an absolutely massive amount. You can do it too. You just have to start.

    This place looks like my house at the time we bought it. The previous owners were hoarders. Besides the junk, the water heater must have broke and flooded the floors because they were black and stunk. We camped in the backyard till the floors were sanded down, stained and sealed. After ten years of work, our home is quite nice now.

    I just loved hearing the pitty pat of your feet. I almost giggled. Strange, I know. The furniture reminded me of my mother and how she used Liquid Gold on her solid maple furniture and let it soak in to feed the wood. Excellent job making the house presentable. BTW that knotty pine wood paneling was expensive even though it's not to everyone's taste.

    I love watching these kind of projects. I'm working on to become a bit more organized in my home. While it's not dirty and not hoarder status I think I have too much stuff and I have a bad habit of not taking back items to their place after having used them. So my dining table tend to get covered in things. I find the notion you made once about tackling one area at a time instead of looking at the whole room very helpful. To the upcoming week I'm setting out to rearrange some things in my entryway, moving about some closets and try to fit in a station of boxes where I can load off various packages wrappings and non important papers so it doesn't even get into the other living areas to occupy space.
