I'm nearing 80 and I STILL have a 10-year plan. Executing and fulfilling a personal plan for my future is exciting and dignified to the very end.
Way to go, Nacy. There is always a goal: retirement, giving, state planning.
These two ... have completely changed the course of my family's path. Couldn't have more respect for them both. Love this collaboration.
Amen

1st generation Mexican American, and I cannot thank these guys enough. Ramsey made me decline student loans and I went to Santa Monica community college, transfered to UC Northridge, paid less than $10,000 while working full time as a waiter in Beverly Hills. My car is paid cash while U have friends pulling 50,000 Mercedes benz when they have less money than me. Makes no sense, but I never judge.
Same here!!! And a David Bach book i bought when I was 16 years old
yes!
One of the hardest lessons I have learn after 50 is that if you do not have a plan for your life you will end up fulfilling the plans of somebody else. You either follow you plan or get used in somebody else's plan.
Deep
Very true!
Yup.
I’m 57 retired with a good pension, very little debt, good taxable and non taxable SRA/IRAs and overall comfortably well off.
But I still just do what I’m told or what I have to do, still very little of what I want to do.
So I made a goal but never set a goal to meet.
Great perspective!!!!!
@@brownwhale5518 I'm in the same position as you. My goal is just to get laid by a decent looking woman once in a while.
“Pursue a goal that is compelling, rather than being driven by circumstances” now that is pure wisdom!
Everytime I listen to JH i get reminded of how a useless, failed and unsuccessful live I've lived and am living, so I've done something about it..yes, I've stopped watching him!
Hahaha, you had me in the first half.
It's amazing how he hits the nail on the head so often. I think most of my life has been driven by circumstances. I'm 64, but it's never too late to change. Blessings, Anthony.

..two icons
Except that Tesla explicitly stated that it was their intention to open up their super chargers to all EVs, so it was only a matter of time. Also, expect other OEMs to come on board.
And yet it was the collab we needed!!

Two heavyweights together, what a Special treat. Dave was intelligent in letting Jordan speak freely. Good for him.
I have NEVER seen Dave sit so still and quiet listening to someone ❤

So tired of Dave, but this makes me think he may be paying attention to what others think after all.

Well said - should be the title of this episode.
You don't need this. It's all ego. Christ Crucified for your sin is the only way to Salvation. Fear God and you will fear nothing else.
Prognosis: this will be one of the top viewed Dave Ramsey clips
Is this video a medical condition? You do mean you "prognosticate" yes? ;)
@The Rich Buddha although prognosis has a negative connotation. It can mean "likely outcome".

Paid off all debt last year, sold our fixer upper house, paid off a vehicle, and now currently saving 25% of our income . Not exactly doing the baby steps but we’re in such a better spot these days and I owe it too a lot of watching financial people on CZcams like Dave.
Good job! You should be proud of your progress. I hope in a few years you're doing even better!
Wonderful testimony of progress and success. Super happy for you and your family. May God continue to bless you and keep you ❤
Hope you're not renting
As a parent of grown kids and teacher of teens, I always focus them on future planning. From college to finances to occupation. Focusing on a well thought out plan makes it happen. One step at a time. So many kids are lost, bored and without direction. We adults need to get them thinking and asking questions.
Thank you for teaching those things. They are critically needed, especially in today's world. Blessings.
To be fair, none of them are bored, they are distracted. Basically all Gen Z learning takes place through TikTok
that sounds like a very boring life.
@@MrGobsmack 😂😂😂
We make it a point to travel within our state and around our diverse country, the USA, to immerse our kids in the beauty of nature and to introduce them to other cultures and occupations. We also encourage our kids to consider the skills and traits that a future mate and boss would find they find desirable so they can begin to cultivate those things in their youth. This motivates them to do more than just watch CZcams, although they do still do a bit of that, mostly constructive stuff.
These two men have changed my life. What a great match up. Thank you!
@@wordsalad01 They've both simply advocated for people to live a better life by holding themselves to a higher standard. It's the age old idea that true freedom is discipline, and it's very true.

Wow, I had not heard anyone else talk about the loss of goal setting and vision, but, this is absolutely what so many are missing in their lives. Thank you so much for this interview today.
It's hard to live for nothing. Humans were made to have a purpose.
Indeed !! If I didn't have a vision and a goal their is no way in hell I would be able to stay debt free.
The cool thing is you can have many purposes and they can change!!!
I read a quote once, and I'm sorry I don't know who to attribute it to, but it went something like this... "A man can increase his wealth, not only by making more, but by reducing his expenditure." I had the proper version of this taped inside of my locker at work. It has always served me well and helped me to accumulate the wealth I needed to pay off my house 11 years early and retire at age 55.
These 2 gentlemen have changed my life and they never even ask for a penny! I am mentally and financially sound. Bless them both ❤
Never would I have thought a self made Tennessee hillbilly and a coalminer’s son from rural Alberta would have come together like this… love this!
You can also enjoy the day to day joys of social media and be happy.
I don't rely on friends and relationships for happiness. So, no, day to day joys of social media don't exist for me.
Profound wisdom from 2 unlikely speaking figures, each a proponent of self improvement for the individuals that they reach, that increases happiness. Not Tik tok.@@ESponge2000

Putting these two together... BEST THING ON THE INTERNET IN YEARS! God bless all of you!
I taught my son to budget and set goals from the moment he learned what money was. If he wanted an XBox, he knew that he'd have to earn the money - or save his birthday money. He earned the money for virtually every major purchase. He's 19 now. He has saved a substantial amount for a down payment on a house. While his friends live paycheck to paycheck, he has the confidence and peace of mind from having his bills paid and savings in the bank. Goal-setting is one of the single most important things that we can teach our kids.
Yes. It is possible but u have to have self control. The goal or belief that it's possible to achieve a goal is so lacking today
@@blutamis7697 Exactly. Teach them young and they won't know any other way.
Very cool! That inspires me, actually. Our oldest (a daughter) is 16.
That is GREAT, however, I will say, I at 16 was working, but paying MY HS tuition and helping my family of 6 siblings and severe circumstances. It is VERY easy to pontificate from height and safety. ( funny thing, I am not attempting to be argumentative, but sometimes, folks who " Have it Made" , can't FATHOM how bad some folks have it. ..... " you should save " is overly simplistic, if you have no food, no transportation, and a tenuous way to get to your 9.00/ hr. job.

After all, we think scientifically - so we believe - and we think we know what that means (since scientific thinking can in principle be defined). We are familiar with scientific thinking, and value it highly - so we tend to presume that that is all there is to thinking (that all other “forms of thought” are approximations, at best, to the ideal of scientific thought).
But this is not accurate. Thinking also and more fundamentally is specification of value - is specification of implication for behavior. This means that categorization, with regards to value -determination (or even perception) of what constitutes a single thing, or class of things - is the act of grouping together according to implication for behavior. This is my constant complaint about school and college. We are not teaching our kids how to succeed in life. We are teaching them everything, but that.
A debt based system NEEDS debt slaves in order to function. If the majority knew how to not get themselves into debt, how to save, how to be frugal and successful... the system as we know it would collapse. Even Dave Ramsey never talks about this system and why our kids never learn this in school. Your debt is my asset and vice versa.
School is for teaching kids to become slaves to the system their entire lives. That way the elites don’t have to work.
@@wordsalad01 Good parents can do things for their children no education system ever could.
@@wordsalad01 the parents were taught by the same education system...the cycle continues
So true Ralph! Many parents are only teaching their children how to be victims.

So good to hear Jordan Peterson talking this same talk.
"...Where there is no vision, the people perish..."~Proverbs 29:18. Once I laid down SPECIFIC and attainable goals, my life changed! No more debt except the house and running a successful business thanks be to God and great men like Dave and Dr. Robinson. Great clip and wisdom ❤

“Develop vision in the realm of possibility. “

Man this is beautiful. Path finding. That's what kids need. That's what people need. You need to have a vision, the overarching goal in your life. That brings about the sense of adventure, the awe in a young kid looking out at a world of endless potential and going on his quest. I noticed once I found out what I wanted to do and who I wanted to be, everything got easy real quick
When I was a teacher I had my juniors write out what do you see yourself doing in 5-10 years, and now 10 years later they’re messaging me on Instagram to let me know those assignments inspired them to become doctors, professors, therapists, teachers, etc. This works.
Seven and a half minutes of so much TRUTH.

I lacked focus and a plan my first two years of college; then I began dating a woman that i wanted to build a life with. Making a plan for life is extremely potent. As a sophomore in high school we were asked to do this as an English topic. Planned out through my eighties, in one sense or another each goal has come about...truly..and am 20 years ahead of schedule...a tweaking of the final most important and worthwhile is in perfection of co-operation of my will with THE WIII of God.

WOW! Finally this topic is discussed more about how our economic education is nonexistent in our society, and where it starts is in the school system and how that had failed children. I am SO GREATFUL that my dad saw how school was just teaching me to be a good test taker and he taught me applied knowledge and how to question things. Schools need a course on finance and budgeting as well as career guidance.

I am 68 and have a lot of time to think and I realize how many opportunities I let pass or fell into situations that didn't help me get to the place that I might have wanted to be. I grew up poor but with many mixed signals on what to do with my life such as I could do much better than working at McDonalds while president/CEO of IBM was too much. Now I didn't want to be in charge of IBM and I was never told this specifically, but the amalgamation of many talks with my mom over the years convinced me of this fact. I’ve always struggled with defining what I want my life to be in the future. So far I’ve figured out a small list, although not very specific on career or location goals.
1. I want a small house(650-1000sqft)
2. Financial safety net(building up a $20,000 emergency as of now)
3. I want to find a women to love and marry, hopefully have at least one child.
4. take care of my parents when they retire.
5. Build a career(maybe culinary? Unsure of specific direction)
This is all I could come up with for now, and I’m sure it will change in the future as I’ve only just turned 18.
I’m sorry buddy but you’re going to have to change number 3. to finding a man.
