I just want to come clean... We have approx $528.47 invested, we are willing to accept the penalty for exceeding the budget by 5%. Again we apologize for the stress this may have caused.
It's OK. You have a guy named Darko driving.
Jay left out the phrases "Y U RUNE KLASICK!!!!11111!!!" and "CHEETURZZZ!!11!!!" so I will place them in the comments here since they're obviously applicable to you.
😂 i need to see this car in person!!
@@knowledgeispower5791 Are you in Michigan? We plan on taking the car to events all over.
Im not right this second but i do frequent detroit quite often
Jay is a terrific storyteller. We will have to get him back for some more soon.
Please do! I think its awesome to have stories from the wide spectrum of cars. The expensive car stories are cool, but I also think these crap cans are just as wonderful.
As a Lemons racer from the midwest, it brings me such happiness to be able to see these stories that I've heard be shared on a much wider scale! Thank you Ed Bolian!
Yes please. :)
Good storyteller my ass! *insert hand flailing*
Yes please! More Lemons stories!
I'd love to hear stories about what types of cars typically win.
Can we please have this guy on more. The Capri story was Hilarious
Yes more of this guy and his lemon stories. They are hilarious
Go hit up their own channel, they put out LeMons Wrapup videos from most races and cover a bit of what goes on. I still wish they'd get some camera people and actually stream the events.
Go to the Lemons youtube channel! They do a great re-cap after every race. The vids are as funny or better than this! And there's literally hundreds of them!
Come to a race. He'll tell you stories for hours.
The dude on the phone while racing was the funniest part xD
Surprised he didn't talk about the Roadkill Rotsun and it's alleged $40K in parts and mods that instantly "turn into junk" once installed into the Rotsun.
That needs to be a Two Parter; part one is that race from Jay’s point of view, and part two told by Mike Finnegan (which it should be stupidly easy to get him to the VINWiki set, because he is a fellow Georgia resident like Ed is)
Oh the car that never fails to fail.
Would that mean they were down 1,975 laps.
@@thebigman4494 at lemons a car like that is called a self solving problem. It is super cheaty but it's going to blow up in 24 laps anyways.
It's difficult to think of any car owned by Roadkill that could be considered reliable enough to turn a handful of race laps without dying, breaking or exploding.
Lemons seems like the kind of experience that you absolutely hate every moment while you're doing it (frantically fixing a car while being burned, etc) but creates unforgettable memories in perpetuity and thus becomes the greatest experience of your life.
Type 3 fun?
WE NEED A 24H LEMON'S REALITY SHOW
Drive to Survive: On the Edge at LeMons
It's a true automotive freak show.
But so is any drag strip across the country on any given weekend.
I want 365 lemons
YES!!!!!
Make it happen
Fiero with a F40 Body kit... I want it. That is hilarious
there´s an Fiero Enzo out there...just saw a video from Jay yesterday...looks, uhm...well...like a Fiero Enzo.
The problem with it is of course the dimensions, the rear is also strangely high of the ground and is kinda short.
@@Hunne2303 it’s so bad oh goddddd

Imagine the 2.9l in there👀
That weird moment when VinWiki bleeps out curse words, but "Pendejo" it's still left out.
What does it mean
@@dma968 It's an expression of calling someone stupid, but in a harsher way. Almost like "Dumb ass"
Pendejo is not a curse
arielatom03 then what is it?
@@alex199273 it translates to idiot
All Spanish speakers are laughing for the “Pendejo Racing team” from California 😂😂
You don't have to speak Spanish to know what a dickhead is... *cough*
I dont know if we speak different with an accent but he said it wrong 😂
Idk what that means bro
@@UnitSe7en Not everyone has been exposed to spanish but good for you. Knowing another language is a great skill. :)
@@dylanallred7005 I guess its the region haha
That Rolls Royce had a monocle, what a big brain play, almost as big as the Llama/Cammel Lotus F1 liverry on the Elite.
the llama livery the coolest thing ever lol
6:37 I love the sorta appropriate getup of the "pit crew" for the Citroën-Maserati SM
I though he messed up his words but oh god Citroen made a masterati
That sounds horrific
@@tony_5156 it is and you have no idea how terrible and awesome this car is
@@tony_5156 Citroen SM with a 3.5 v8 Maserati Engine, they used to take it rallying :D
Running my first Lemons race in 9 weeks. 1987 Chevette baby!
It better be a diesel for extra Class C quality.
I sure hope you beefed up the brakes to something bigger or you won't make it two laps!
The cars may cost $500 (Or more) but the memories, the stories, and the hilarity of it all is PRICELESS.
As my high school auto shop once said to me, "Anything can be a race car if you're brave enough."
Seems like the most logical step is to introduce a novelty class of some sort and a competitive class if there isn't one already.
That's what they have, is the thing. Class C is where all the novelties and hopeless cars go, Class B is cars that may have some hope of winning, and Class A is where all the cheaty and super competitive cars go.
@@magicoddeffect Those cars with $504.99 of parts and $100,000.00 of engineering put into them.
I now have two ambitions:
1. Enter the 24hrs of Lemons with a serious efficient $500 car
2. Enter the 24hrs of Lemons with a bizarre vehicle that makes Jay happy.
You have to spend $5000 on safety equipment, and find three or four codrivers.
@@sludge4125 Look if I'm bothering with a bizarre car I can probably handle that
@@pavarottiaardvark3431 👍👍👍
I knew the $500 car thing was BS at my first Lemons in Toledo, OH. Our team was 5 guys from Minnesota and me from Ohio in a Saab 9-3 named Team Cougar Bait. Parked next to us in the pits was the Pratt and Miller Corvette racing pit crew. They literally had a machine shop in their trailer! But it was OK because about 45 minutes into the race our first driver got turned into the wall, smashing the right front in pretty well. We worked on that car for probably 5 hours, getting help from the Pratt & Miller crew and even using my van to yank on the subframe. But we could only make enough room for an intercooler for the turbo, or a radiator. For obvious reasons we ran the radiator. Overnight it wasn't bad, but as soon as the sun came up and the heat and humidity built up our engine got too hot. We parked it, but got back on track with about 15 minutes to go so we could say we finished. We ended up winning the trophy for "Most Heroic Comeback". This was in 08, and during the trophy ceremony a massive storm blew in, the remnants of a Hurricane Ike, that did a lot of damage in western Ohio. I was driving south on I-75 and the headwinds were so strong that my van kicked out of overdrive to maintain 75mph.
Also, Jay is 100% correct about Nelson Ledges. You WILL accelerate if you go off track and god help you if the grass is wet!
I'm excited to enter the lemons this year. I have a 1968 Cadillac Sedan Deville which I proud to say is the worst possible road course racer.
It's not entirely BS. If you want to actually compete for purse or points, the rules very much apply. It's only if you're obviously there for S&G's and your car has little chance of being competitive that they don't care.
So what if i had a car that was clearly way over budget, turned fast laps, but was sure to not place well (like retiring early or just making sure i don't finish in the top 5 of laps)
The Rolls Royce with the Pickle Jar monocle might be my favorite thing I've ever seen in my life. Surprised Hoovie or JR haven't done that yet to be honest. 😂😂😂
I've never laughed so hard at a VINWiki episode before. Him saying '$500 MY ASS!' should be my new text tone. Also my friend co-drove that Viper powered Rolls the first time they fielded it, the engine blew almost immediately.
When Bruno Blew it up?? completely his fault....
24 houts of lemon 🍋 is one of my bucket list things I really want to do. It looks like a blast.
Top Gear USA doing the 24 hours of lemons was pure entertainment.
To bad it got cancelled :(
@The King I disagree
@@likemike9405 Have you heard John Ficarra talk about top gear us? That was the last nail in the coffin for me
Edit: oh shit I think they removed the video...to savage for vinwiki loll
lobmin actually it’s because the 3 hosts did a podcast together and said there was a lot of misleading statements and distruth in that
@@glinteastwood9396 ok. But then there is still _some_ truth to it, and those things just stand for what I dislike about television
what kinda pickle jars you got in the states???
Basti378 good ones
think that was a locking ring for a pickle BARREL!
Looked more like a trim ring for a wheel to me. Like the ones to jazz up a set of steelies.
Was a Texas pickle jar. Specifically the special variety from Austin. Just dont ask what they do with them, we sure as hell don't.
Big ones
As much as I love so many vinwiki stories, I think this is now my favorite. So many fun cars packed in here. Reminds me of the people who run big old Honda CBXs in vintage bike races
Best lemons racecar is the Nyan cat e28 car that blasts Nyan cat for 24 hours!
So good. Jay is one of the very best here and I cannot wait to race in one of his races.
Miss hanging out with Jay and all the lemons personalities. can't believe it's been more than 10 years guys...
I just discovered the lemons thing recently.... I love you guys. Sincerely, I get depressed about how stodgy racing is, watch y'all, and just smile.
This channel is absolutely awesome. Love everything bout it.
24 hours of lemons isn’t about the competition. It’s about the fun
What would be your dream car to find for $500 and then race in the 24 Hours of Lemons?
Ford transit
Or hillman imp
Gen 2 berlinetta
@@UriahD85 We've had one in Lemons. It was...not fast.
An old Mercedes with biggest engine possible
Thank god for vin wiki car stories. I get so much done whilst these epic stories are playing!
Last time I was this early the GT3 still had fuel in it
And just like that, I have a new catch phrase!!
New catch phrase my ass!
Absolutely loved this video. He's such a good story teller!
It's been fun following the LeMons recaps over the past few years documenting the incredible depths teams will go to to annoy 'that guy' on the internet.
Well worth learning LeMons lore, if you have a soft spot for some of the worst cars ever made - they "get" car culture more than most.
there are also some of the best ones made
Last time I was this early Ed was still working a deal with Kimmy
But did she have butt implants?
Arty Ivanenko Remember, they are not implants they are fat redistributions that could have been done with a turkey baster or a jackhammer
Came for Raikkonen, leaving disappointed
I’d love to hear more stories on Lemons racers! Great content!
Every time he says 500$ my a....
I just burst out laughing... 🤣
ASS-ton - Martin killed me!!!
Always look forward to VINwiki videos
This has to be one of the best videos you have made, just because of the guest. Great stories and... "500$ my ass!" Hilarious 🙂
Met the ChOtus guys at Laguna Seca. Great bunch of guys with a helluva mash-up for a car. Thanks Jay!
24 hours of “lemons” 😂😂😂 why have I never heard of this
Awesome story, I was hoping he would cover the MR2 with the biplane engine in it as well, but these cars are amazing!
This does clarify some things. I just heard of this series for the first time today and I’m interested.
Some ppl just dont get its about having fun w rediculus cars
Nelson's Ledges is an awesome road course, ran the twenty-four hours bike race there as well as shorter endurance races for many a year.
Going off the course in the Carousel at O dark thirty driving in the foggy mist and into the swamp happened with amazing regularity.
Jay could tell a story about embalming someone and I would listen on the edge of my seat...very talented storyteller! 👍
I love stories like this! just to finish in a homemade race car is what it's all about.
Jay needs to do another one on this topic - Avanti, Race Rambler, Homermobile, Radial Engine MR2, MRolla, chicken car, the birthday cake, Jagvair, dual-driver VW bug, Wienermobile, Harley-powered Prius, yeah and maybe the Tinyvette, and these are mostly west-coast cars. The east much have a bevy of absurdity to offer up as well.
How dare you leave out the nyancar.
I did kinda know about the balancing rules, but I now have a completely different and much better understanding of how Lemons works. gr8 vid 10/10
I work at a race track thats hosting lemons relatively soon and I don't think ive ever been as excited for an event before
Great story and visuals to go with it, I have been so hooked on these car stories I started showing them to my wife. Needless to say she doesn't find them as entertaining as I do. LOL
Those Lotus...hatchbacks?... God I love them.
Excellent explanation of 24hrs/lemons

Chotus.
I was laughing put loud by this story telling. Thank you for sharing.
I just bought a 1968 Cadillac Sedan Deville for 250 dollars. I'm entering it in the Carolina Motorsports raceway this April!!!
At 7:52 you can see my team's red integra!
Good to see you buddy. I run 24hr of lemons with Supra Troopers for a couple of years before I discovered go karting. But I do miss it some times.
Could i run a decent car in lemons and then just make sure i don't place well so they won't buy it back? Like pretend i have mechanical issues a few times, or retrire early etc
That last car! A rolls rolls with a viper engine and it shoots fire!!!!! Hell yeah!!!!!!
More! That was great!
2:43 when my mom is ready to hit me
My family currently owns that Mercedes with the beer keg hood scoop and wing they showed when talking about older mercs towards the beginning
More 24hr of lemons stories!!! That guy was awesome
How could you not feature our amazing RX8 that’s done like 8 laps in 2 races total? Ok maybe like 30 total.
Are you only at risk of getting your car bought back if you finish well?
@@TheCorrectionist1984 There has been only 2 instances of this happening since the creation of Lemons. First time was this Merc that the contestants begged to have it taken away because they live in SF with no place to store it.
And for the other time, they claimed the engine in a Camero, which was a super cheaty "305 small block", that they apparently got for "free from a customer". Though the engine was never actually taken. The team did this to avert attention from their other car, which was a 3rd gen turbo Supra that had won Lemons before.
The claiming rule is there to scare cheaters away and keep the cars in "Lemons spirit". Not to punish competitive teams.
"500 dollars my ass" best lemons meme
I love that Jay Lamm is on VinWiki. I've wanted to race 24 hours of lemons ever since I first heard of it, ironically on Vinwiki
I agree with ya Jay on the V10 Vipers slinging engine parts. That Rolls was a good SBC / LS away from being a real contender . lol Great vid !
Nah man it needs a Iron Duke
Except almost all SBC / LS cars do terrible in Lemons. What they need is a buick slant 8 engine from the 30s-40s.
This was a great one!
The car that shocked me the most was the Bricklin SV-1, since that little thing was built in Canada and used an AMC V8 for 1974, and a Ford Windsor V8 for 1975 and 76.
More of this please.
Yay! More lemons stories!
For sure gonna get a lotus elite, that thing is awesome.
That is a very cool story , thanks for sharing, very entertaining.
The hand movement was a good touch

I love the "Llama" stickers.
This whole competition is a fucking meme - we need some official show for this. Love Jay as well, I can’t remember the last time I laughed my ass off this hard.

Darko is very common South Slavic name.
It comes from word 'dar' which means 'gift', like if he was a gift
I was at this race with the Merc! Wild.
I *love* his lemons stories!
In the beginning they would take the high-dolla-balla apart after a vote of the racers. Often it was done with a backhoe. They made it worth $500 or less, depending on scrap metal prices.
Thank you for explaining this! I watched a video just the other day where someone brought a Boxster (with no body damage) and the car is worth more than $3G in parts alone.
did it have a 15 gallon water tank in the trunk? lol
Good morning! Happy Friday Jr.
This was a GREAT story..... more more more!!!
Do you think they'd allow a jeep? 2013 rubicon unlimited. I think its somewhere around a 10 second 0-60
Crazy cool Frankenstein cars that's really neato
