    I love the the reveal in this episode. Littlefinger got Lysa to poison her Husband, the hand of the king, and then got her to send the letter that implicated the Lannisters. He has basically been revealed to be the man who started the war of the 5 kings.
    He sowed chaos and built his ladder out of the bones of the members of Westoros's major houses and all the ordinary people of Westeros.

      I always felt the timing on the reveal was a bit poor. Both in books and show, it comes too late. The murder mystery surrounding Jon Arryn‘s death was the driver of season 1. Then we hear nothing of him for two and a half season. Then there‘s the reveal. It made me happy and proud that the boys understood the reveal. Because when I first watched this episode with 4 friends, none of them got what Lysa was talking about 🤦‍♂️

    Lysa: “I’m going to scream so loud, they’ll hear me clear across the Narrow Sea”
    My Grandmother: “Ew why is that? Is it because she’s the dragon too? Does she scream at everyone through that big hole in the floor? So strange” 😂. This episode was my grandmothers second ever watch, she was put off the first time after seeing Visery’s violate Daenerys and calling himself “The Dragon” so she came back into it blindly thinking anyone could be the dragon.
    For me, 4x5 and Sansa’s dialogue with Aunt Lysa in her chamber, in particular “I’m just a stupid girl” is where I personally felt Sansa’s character paradigm begin to genuinely shift with an agenda. She is beyond grief and torture and is now learning to play the game. A princess that had always hoped and even believed she was going to wake into her beautiful daydream.Yet instead, woke into a nightmare that she now has to battle her way out of.

    Cousin marriage, even with first cousins, is a totally normal way of consolidating power and isn't considered incest. This is true of most of human history, including early America. The monarchs of Europe are all related. There are lots of cousin marriages within all the families of Westeros.

Staying and making sure her reforms are in place is a new challenge for her and brings other kinds of complications and lessons for her. The fact that she said it with a smirk only drives home the point that she can actually be a ruler without the Iron Throne. She is starting to believe she is more than just a huge force moving around.🐉🔥

    I will not take Brandon Stark slander 🤣 but Littlefinger really is the cause of it all! Petyr was in love with Catelyn Tully since he was a child, Lysa was in love with Petyr since she was a child. At some point when Brandon was betrothed to Cat, Petyr (littlefinger) challenged Brandon to a duel, Petyr was 12-15ish? and Brandon was older, bigger, castle trained. Cat gave Brandon her favor, told Petyr to not duel cause regardless she’d never marry him. She did ask Brandon to NOT KILL Petyr cause she saw him as a foster brother. Brandon injured him badly. Lysa snuck in and helped “nurse him”. He thought it was Cat. Brandon died, Cat and Lysa’s dad Hoster Tully would not rebel against Targaryens unless his daughters became ladies of Great Houses (Stark and Arryn both liege and wardens of their region) so Cat married a Stark still and Lysa married a man older than her own father - Jon Arryn. It’s implied she was like 15 or so.

  • @EchanteDante
    @EchanteDante Před 23 dny +2

    Yeah this episode has some really massive reveals that are sort of downplayed in a way intentionally. Hearing Little Finger was behind Jon Aryn dying and the letter to Cat telling her the Lannister’s are behind it. All of that started the entire conflict and events that lead to Ned dying, the war of the five kings (Renly, Stannis, Rob and the Greyjoys vs The Lannisters and each other). So this conflict in this entire series is because Little Finger schemed it into existence

Ironically, though, in HotD the people who use the title are not actually kings/queens of the Rhoynar, because Dorne had not yet become part of the seven kingdoms. Danaerys is a girl that got dragged aorund behind her brother for years, and has had minimal experience with the concept of ruling. At best, she has some romantic idea of what it means to be queen, as evidenced by how fervent she is aobut "breaking the wheel." She's naive at best, and it shows in most of her decisions. At this point, it's still too early to take her seriously.
      It's not sexism. She's not fit ... yet. And as far as anyone knows at this point, might never be. If you're going to insist on comparing Danaerys and Tyrion, then have the intellectual honesty to admit that Tyrion is leagues beyond her. Also, the line "I will rule." is just ... hokey.

    @6:50 It’s so satisfying finally hearing what started the show, literally this all began because Ned Stark went to investigate Jon Aryn’s death because he believed it was murder, he (and everyone watching this show) believed the Lannisters poisoned him because he went looking for Robert Baratheons bastards because he knew Roberts and Cerseis kids were all Jaimes and Cerseis kids, after Jaime crippled Bran we all thought the Lannisters started this bullshit and were the villains of this show but it was little finger all along, Jon Aryn’s murder after visiting Gendry (Roberts eldest bastard) kick started Ned to investigate his murder, find out the Roberts kids are bastards born of Lannister Incest, Petyr Baelish pitted the Starks and the Lannisters against each other from the very beginning he really is the VILLAIN of this show, everyone else is just doing what they think is right, Jaime and Cersei included.

She does something else you cannot excuse. It's actually quite brilliant writing. Otherwise she's just another 100% villain like Joffrey or Ramsey.
