if I can't remember to recharge my phone, will I end up looking for an outlet at the airport - to recharge my brain?
I wonder if Michael Fox,the actor, had this done?
No, according to his recent book he had a different surgery early on and decided not to go through another operation.
Well done, thank you!

Thanks for your comment. Many people have positive outcomes with DBS, but others have serious, life changing complications from it. We're sorry to hear your father's experience was not a positive one.
Some studies suggest that over 75% percent of people with Parkinson's report that DBS had a positive effect on their quality of life, and there has been a lot of research about screening for DBS and what characteristics correspond to the best outcomes. Still, as you and others have experienced, there are enough variables and unknowns that physicians can't be certain every person will have positive results.
Please reach out to us at blog@dpf.org if we may be able to help.
