      I hope you didnt have it. My fathers DBS became a nightmare. He lost his voice, walking ability after DBS.

    In December,2019, Ohio State Wexner Medical Center implanted Boston Scientic Vercise Gevia DBS. We highly recommend DBS to everyone who qualifies for a implant.

      No, according to his recent book he had a different surgery early on and decided not to go through another operation.

      Thanks for your comment. Many people have positive outcomes with DBS, but others have serious, life changing complications from it. We're sorry to hear your father's experience was not a positive one.
      Some studies suggest that over 75% percent of people with Parkinson's report that DBS had a positive effect on their quality of life, and there has been a lot of research about screening for DBS and what characteristics correspond to the best outcomes. Still, as you and others have experienced, there are enough variables and unknowns that physicians can't be certain every person will have positive results.
