    The bigger of the 2 knobs on the back of the gun limits how much paint comes out so you dont have to woory about pulling the trigger back too far! Just screw it in for less paint and screw it back out for more paint and the small knob adjusts the size of the spray pattern

    Are you thinning it down with water or putting it directly into tbe air gun?

    Great info! If you thin the Bitty mask, what do you use? Water? Or are there any special thinner?

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před rokem +3

      I do not thin bitty as I haven't found a need. I did thin Spraylat, and when I did, I just used water. A little goes a long way. If you are having trouble spraying bitty, your needle/airbrush you are using might be too small. Mine has a 1.2 nozzle

    Are you using just water to clean it up?

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před rokem

      Yes sir, just water to rinse out with some cleaning brushes. You HAVE to get the inside of the gun clean where the needle goes. Pipe cleaner type brushes are perfect. I found some on Amazon super cheap. After its clean from the sink, I put some water through it to spray out and then place my hand over the nozzle while pulling the trigger to "back fill" it and shoot water back into the gun. This helps get any residue from the LM out of the internals. Hope that helps

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před rokem +1

      Almost always 2 coats and you should be good. Bitty works best when it's not too thick, but not too thin...lol. Following that process should be perfect.

    Oh gawd... im screwed. Everybody so far says thicker is better.. well i can barely even see my hand thru it 😢. You think i should just peel it off and start over? This is my first body and there is ALOT ALOT of little designs and effects im doing and i thought thicker would keep it down better so the little intricate pieces didnt pull up together. Would i want to still go thinner coat for what im doing? Pleaseeee help!

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před rokem +1

      Morning sir....I would say peel off that layer and start over. Especially if you barely can see through it. When you get any mask too thick, it's a pain to peel, and Bitty especially. It dries a little "firmer" than other liquid mask...which applied correctly is a GREAT thing. Too much, and it makes it difficult. But the other side is, too thin is even worse. If you follow these instructions, you should be good. Best of luck

      @Marc McGurren thank you for the reply! After letting it dry completely it actually cleared up alot and I can see right thru it so I think I was just psyching myself out. I also did a test piece with it (the outside of an old body) and it actually cuts out really well. Definitely not as thick as I was thinking it was. Probably just gonna let it dry for a full day cuz people say the longer it dries the snappier the pieces are when cutting them out..? Idk I'm just gathering everybody's tips and hoping for the best. Hey thanks again for the reply, I'm tuned in with you now so I'm sure you'll see me around more often! Have a good day sir.

      @Marc McGurren hey Marc.. so I kinda had an idea. Can you tell me if u think this would work or not. So I've been doing a bunch of research on what I should be backing my paint job with so it doesn't get all scratched up and stuff and seems like everybody is kinda going wild with shoe goo and gorilla tape all this heavy ugly stuff. What if I just used the liquid mask as a backing? Do a few extra coats maybe.? It seems pretty durable and it's flexible and sticks really well... yay.. nay.. maybe? Sorry I have no RC buddies and you're literally the only person that has actually responded to me so thought I'd get your opinion 😅

      @@DeezLouize They are doing it wrong. You can use Krylon or Rustoleum clear coat to do what you want.
      KEY is 3-4 LIGHT coats. Let a few hours between coats. Or if hot enough outside and let sun dry it. If you can do that, 20-30 min between coats.
      But has to be light light light. Too thick and it will react to the water based paint and crack it all up.
      I do this for all nitro and offroad cars.

    How much time between coats?

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Lots of factors on that, as it depends on how thick you sprayed on the ambient temperature, but usually it can take around 5-10 hours to fully dry. The entire body should be translucent pink. If certain spots are opaque and a brighter pink, its not fully cured. Hope that helps

    • @MikeyB-Rod
      @MikeyB-Rod Před 7 měsíci

      @@MarcMcGurren it does and it doesn't haha. I'm getting wildly different opinions on how long between coats. Some say spray the second coat just as the first tacks up. Others say wait 3+ days between coats. Then I have people saying 45-60 minutes. I'm spraying indoors, 70-72 degrees..no humidity

    • @MarcMcGurren
      @MarcMcGurren  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@MikeyB-Rod I gotcha - plenty of ways to make it work. I do know Stefano (owner of Bitty Design) recommends it to fully cure before you spray the next one. Sometimes if its about half way cured and I know I won't need the body for a few days, I will go ahead and spray the next coat as I know I won't be touching that body for a bit, that will give it plenty of time to cure. Here is my usual process....spray a coat in the morning. In the event its sunny and nice outside, I will go place the bodies outside to let the sun help cure it. Right now in the winter, can't do that. So I just leave the bodies in my paint room. A box fan does help a little, but not a ton. From there, later that afternoon/evening, I will go spray the 2nd coat. By this time, the body should be 90% dry. Maybe a few spots aren't cured which is no biggie. But I spray that 2nd coat, let dry overnight, and *usually its cured by morning. I have had great success with this way, No matter how you do it, it all works. Just has to be fully cured and a thick enough coat to make it work

      Thanks for the feedback. As far as length of video, I totally understand, but I do this for fun and not looking to be youtube famous, just like helping folks when I can....so I just setup my phone, hit record, and then upload. This one is only 8 minutes, so I feel like its not long, goes through the steps, and breaks it down. To answer your questions: thickness - 2-3 medium coats. Put other coats on once the previous coat is fully dry (all parts of liquid mask are translucent and not opaque). Then once the last coat of mask is translucent, you can paint
