Hey I found something interesting in levitates lyrics it says “but compensation feels a lot like rising up to dominate” pretty interesting they had this all planned out
Bro I don't know if this is late but, there are 3 Trench songs that with the audio version, isn't covered with red tape on the cover. They are Jumpsuit, Levitate, and I believe Nico and the Niners
This is barely the second song on the tracklist and it already got most of the clique crying 😭
Dude for real, imagine what the whole 6 MIN of paladin strait is gonna do to us
@@caquis2037dude, I'm afraid of that the entire album is gonna do to me. If this album has anywhere near the emotion of Self Titled or even Vessel, I'm gonna be a wreck.
Fake You Out: "In the Night, Headlights call my name"
Next Semester: *Tyler having anxiety, and sort of PTSD remembering that moment*
This song also fits with Truce
Totally agree with you on truce
I think Fake You Out is a different context, because that line follows "I want to drive away". Next Semester's themes match March to The Sea closest. Car Radio, A Car A Torch A Death, and Fake You Out all mention driving. "I could pull the steering wheel", "I wanna crack the door so I can just fall out", "i want to drive away, in the night headlights call my name"
He playing a piano in the middle of the street in truce. Hey kid get out of the road
@@WarHog4ever I know.. I'm connecting it Lyrical wise
Second Semester took a crown from Overcompensate for me. The song has been on repeat since it came out. It's exactly what I need right now.
It seems that you're referring to next semester? And I agree... I think it's the better one, and it's more relatable and straight forward...
@@testedfirst8473
Right. Next Semester. My exhausted brain didn't notice the mistake.
I agree
FRRR
same. It’s been living in the background (or forefront) of my brain 24/7 since it came out
So I saw someone saying the yellow tape from trench could represent the yellow lines in the road that help to remind him of what he endured, to keep him going.
But nobody seems to notice that the lights, aren't like a normal orange tint of most car lights they're more of a NEON. Vialism, is the containing of a neon light and Matching the song Neon Gravestones. They call for him, like lights on a highway... Even if I'm wrong, This Band is just executing on all cylinders and continues to stay on TOP in my book (sorry for the puns)
I was going to make a comment regarding this. I also noticed that the lights were the same neon blue that the bishops use for the grave stones. I also noticed that not too many people comment on the fact that he's wearing the Clancy mask in one of the loops.
Yes! NEON!!! I though that exact same thing! Also, it's almost reminisce of the lights in shy away and other places in SAI.
I definitely agree that those lights do not look like headlights. The yellow tape idea makes so much sense too! I'm surprised I never caught that.
Neds Cozy Fireplace had 125 books, and Next Semester released exactly 125 days after that video. Neds video released November 23 2023, Next Semester released March 27 2024
Wow, they really have everything planned out dont they! I can't beleive it's already been over 125 days since Ned's cozy fireplace came out! It doesn't feel that long ago!
@@imcarakins Also if you turn the video so that east is up (right is up), you can kind of see the number 161 in the bookshelf near the center of the screen, formed by books. 161 days after Neds Cozy Fireplace would be Thursday May 2, which seems like a good date for the next single, so that’s the date I’ll be waiting for.
@@FloatingBandito21 Ohhhh! That's genius! Why aren't mor people talking about this?!
@@imcarakins I think most people haven’t realized it’s been 125 days, and aren’t looking enough at the books for dates. We probably should have known there would be answers in those bookshelves especially after they found that Morse code in the video, and found it meant “books”. There were people that really looked at the books, but I think they thought the 125 books would probably be a date like 1/25 and not days.
@JJ2321 yeah I agree. Well thanks for informing me!
Next Semester and Overcompensate are both bangers, I honestly feel like Clancy is about to be a masterpiece and match Trench in quality.
This song is great. The message within the lyrics hits me hard.
This is real life, it's actually about a suicidal night in collage aka NPI Era with Tyler
I’ve been in a similar situation with Tyler , with him reliving the suicide attempt but then staying alive for another season of life . Tyler and Josh and many other things have helped me get out of that situation, stay alive people it’s worth it |-/
4:37 mr misty eyed :0
This song grew on me so much with repeated listens.
Im actually obsessed with it now. The more I listen the more I like it
SAME! At first I wasn't feeling it, but it grew on me 😢😢
I’m in the same boat! It didn’t blow me away on the first listen but each time I replay it, it grows on me more!
I cry with every listen. It's amazing how a song with such few words can mean so much.
Me too! That’s why I love this band.
this song is giving me SKA & punk rock vibes, but the lyrics and ukulele made me tear up ngl
hmm Not ska
it’s punk/post-punk revival and indie rock.
Ska is like fast reggae with horns ;)
@@clifftonl-vuitton2770 it’s giving me a mix of those two, ska-punk if you will. but yeah, the biggest influence here is definitely punk rock.
A car a torch a death and taxi cab also fit in with this
“I began to envy the headlights driving south, I wanna crack the door so I can just fall out”
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on their content, I appreciate your perspectives and love sharing my excitement with the community :)
I have a bit of an off the wall theory/prediction that given that this is a cycle. Something that repeats, that at the end, in the final video, it all culminates in Tyler right back in the car from heavydirtysoul....
But maybe this time, he's driving, because he's finally in control.
More lore! Very heavy dirty soul the car passing him repeatedly and the Sparks falling from the amp.
And fake you out...' headlights call my name"
Three jumps to the left for each of the first three albums(vessel, blurry face, trench), one jump to the right for scaled and icy when Josh and Tyler flip-floped sides, and the last one jumped to the left with the Clancy mask for the new album.
"If it wasn't for this music I don't know how I would have fought this"
Actually makes sense the music keeps him alive each album helped him to jump out of the way of the car(stay alive)
To me this is a memory of s attempt when he was younger, the music Even sounds like the late 90s/early 2000s
He wants the lights to take him home, literally... he wants to end it cuz "he doesn't want to be here" Lore... he wants to go back home to dema where inevitably, he would end it... This album is going to be amazing!
Cars and headlights have been a theme in tøp since the very very beginning. Finally having that come to fruition is such a twist. Tyler is truly opening up and that is definitely going to continue to be intense emotionally for all of us. Especially those of us with experience with trauma and suicide.
It's so authentic. He's laying his soul out for us for the purpose of art and connection, I respect that so much.
Lots of references to both Fake You Out and Not Today!
As someone who had to face depression and anxiety in a severe way again as Covid started at uni I can very much relate to this song and therefore I did like it more than Overcompensate
THEY POSTED THE BACKSLIDE MV REAL!!!1!
I absolutely did NOT like the song initially. After the first few listens, I was confident that this is my least favorite TØP song. But now after listening to it a few dozen times, I think it's incredible and probably the absolute best sing-along song in their discography.
Obviously, it's fun singing along with all their songs in concert, but this is going to be on another level live.
I had a very similar reaction, I was really trying to be positive about it in the video. But as I listened to it more and more, I really grew to love it! I mean, I literally teared up in that clip I threw in towards the end! Talk about a turnaround!
Second songs on their album have always felt meaningful because Stressed Out blew up.
This song showed me that musically we can expect clean production while they also won’t hold back on darker theme’s lyrically. Feels less experimental then Trench or earlier albums where they were still figuring out sound.
I‘m looking forward to a wide mix of genres but maybe less switches within songs.
But at this point we really just don’t know yet.
This song gives me Ramones and early Green Day vibes. I wasn’t sure the first time I listened, but like everyone else it just gets better and better!
I've been waiting for this!
LOVE NEXT SEMESTER! Its such a vibe
I relate a lot to the subject matter as far as struggles in college.. so this song was very appealing for me
is it just me or the first oooooh sounds like the one from never take it, idk why
love this
Amazing song, glad they are back
🔥🔥🔥
You took the words right out of my mouth! "Whiplash" is a great way to put it. Love the song as a single, super confused as to how it will fit into the new album.
The feeling of anxiety and how it's possibly like facing a car that could hit you but instead trying to live ... then how once you've gained some self-aware strength.. the anxiety has to make its way around you. Perfect song of despair and hope having to make a truce and continue to let Tyler thrive and create these beautiful songs to bless our lives. ❤😢🔥
Don’t forget the piano in the middle of the road on Truce
I think the judge comes right before next semester
next semester describes the attempt and the judge is what leads up to it
In the pre chorus "I found my way, right time wrong place" he might have decided that now is the time for an attempt, but not the right place, so in the 2nd Verse he "" heads down a route" where next semester starts
I got teary eyed on my second listen as well. The lyrics start to sink in. This track got me even more excited for the entire album than Overcompensate did. Or my excitement came from concert dates being announced the same day 🤷♀️
i genuinely started screaming when he brought out the uke
Yo let’s go
im obsessed with this song
SAME! It’s grown on me SO MUCH
First like and view and comment!
couldn't tell you why, but Next Semester definitely made me tear up as soon as I heard it as I was listening to the lyrics.
Liked it from the jump but wasn’t sure if I would like it more than Overcompensate. Well, fast forward a few days I’m obsessed. The other night I played it 20+ times in a row. It’s very raw and has me remembering the places I was 10+ years ago before Jesus, when I was in this same exact headspace. “I remember certain things….” I definitely do. Love this song. It will definitely become a top contender in their discography for me.
I do agree SP - it also gave me whip lash from Overcompensate 😂
The slower parts give "Truce" vibes at times to me -- another video that starts in the street, too.
I can’t decide how I feel about Next Semester. I loved the Intro to Overcompensate (heavy synth build up, Welcome Back to Trench, Sahlo Folina). It really got me hyped up for the new era. LOVE the post-punk vibes in Next Semester but then the content & ending got me sooo bummed 🥺
It’s so raw & vulnerable of Tyler to share this with us & I respect that. I find it hard to listen to/watch. Just being honest 🫤
I think about song we dont believe what's on TV and song lane boy
In first song there line
"We don't believe what's on TV
Because it's what we want to see
And what we want, we know we can't believe…"
And what we want we know we cant believe
In lane boy there line and we go where we want to
And in next semester tyler goes line like Lane boy
What i want to say is tyler saying he cant believe what he want, but in song lane boy he say he goes where he want to
But if u can belive what you want, so how Tyler goes where he want to? What if he need stop beliving where he want go? Because if he go where he want to that mean that he belive what he wants but he say he cant belive what he want
I don't know if you understand me but i write it
Hey Stolen Potential
Hi
To me this album (so far) feels more like SAI's darker brother rather than trench
As I'm watching this I really want you to start a react channel or just start reacting to things please 🥺🙏
I come a decade-long outside observer of the lore.
This video is showing us that Tyler/Clancy still feels as if he is metaphorically on that street. Allow me to explain.
Twenty One Pilots is Christian propaganda. Because overt Christian messaging is not usually seen in pop culture, the duo is attempting to evangelize with Christian symbolism.
Vialism=Zoroastrianism (a major belief system predating Christianity). Tyler says that 'ending your life and impacting as many people as you can with that act' is the main idea of this religion. And the audience is supposed to figure out why this religion is bad. Obviously, he is covertly referring to Jesus, who would embody the antithesis of this idea. The entire lore is a means of evangelizing secular people who get invested in it.
And Tyler has likely been in great distress over the situation he's found himself in being an evangelist/celebrity. In Goner, he wants to be "known by you." That's it. Blurryface is the performer. The person the people see as a public figure. He wants that. But he wants to be known by God, as Tyler. In trying to have it both ways, it's obvious that he's found himself in the trenches with heathens.
He is now overcompensating for all the blasphemy by embodying the Clancy figure he's built up.
"If you can’t see, I am Clancy."
Yet he's clearly narrorating just as Tyler. He's saying HE is Clancy.
And who is Clancy?
Blurryface.
In Goner, he says:
"Blurry's the one I'm not
I need your help to take him out"
Ive always interpreted the entire album as being directed at two subjects: YOU, the listener, and God. He speaks as Blurryface, hoping you'll hear his cries to God instead of his plea for attention. You heard his plea for attention. The songs he wrote were never heard. Clancy is the extension of what he feels he's become: an idol. And what is this character?
A heroic figure who returns from the dead to save the people of a world in which he also created.
And I'll just leave it at that.
*before music starts*
“Yeah this is totally punk rock. Totally 2000s”. Someone’s been reading too much.
Im just here to say - that did NOT feel like a track 2 imo. Its so tonally different than Levitate or Stressed Out, Holding On To You..
I have no idea what to expect from the rest of this album!!
Tyler Joseph is a Demi-god
Dema-god
Fantano is a crook
Early 2000s? More like Romones late 70s- early 80s
Definitely reminds me of Blitzkrieg Bop
