- The runecrafting minigame Guardians of the rift just recently came out and has completely shifted the entire runecrafting skill. The rewards from the minigame have dramatically buffed any essence using runecrafting method (ZMI, lavas/muds, regular runes), making those methods now solid gp and xp. This minigame is decently intensive but provides a very solid 60-75k xp/hr and around 1m gp/hr, which isn’t shabby at all either.

Very solid method which I did not include in video is doing pure elemental in solos, and pure catalytic in masses. This seems to be the fastest rewards/hr I've found when you have full outfit (roughly 25-30 rewards/hr)
EDIT: You can no longer get the extra pouches after colossal
solo method got ruined with the update. combo runes no longer give the extra guardian energy even if they give more points.
I had 61 rc (now 64) so I’ve only been doing pure elemental for runes and make my golems catalytic so it balances out (when fire isn’t available I will do law or nature rarely) I am not really a fan of soloing, but duoing is way better. You still only have to worry about the 1 gate and you get 4 golems to handle it

We need to be able buy the Abyssal Lantern for pearls because going dry on it is really frustrating. They confirmed they will add the ability to trade in extra ones for pearls.
Eternal binding necklace & abyssal bracelet have been suggested as new rewards which I think would be great.
Not sure why the lantern is even rarer than the needle? It's far less useful and only has use in minigame
The amulet you get should be a binding necklace, either eternal or you can charge it. It should have a use!

@@GnomonkeyRS i think not having to repair your pouches through that lantern is a extreme;y big QoL upgrade.. people had to grind 99 rc in the first place to get such a upgrade. i would say its the best upgrade inside the minigame you can ask for

Great guide! One thing to keep in mind:
The Colossal Pouch requires 85 Runecrafting in order to create. This is a steep requirement for a vast majority of OSRS players, and you mention its use quite a lot in this guide.
Just wanted to mention this, as this minigame attracts quite a lot of mid-tier players, and 85 RC is a fairly high requirement.
85 rc should only take couple days being tick perfect for only 16-18 hrs a day

"We'd also like to mention a bug we've discovered on the Raiments of the Eye - its bonus is intended to increase the number of Runes crafted, but it's also giving additional Guardian Stones when crafting combination Runes, allowing for higher XP rates and reward points during Guardians of the Rift. We kind of like the concept, because it means that greater effort equals greater reward - but we feel like such mechanics should be tied to the minigame itself rather than the outfit you're wearing while playing it.
We're leaving the bug alone for now, but we are working on a better implementation already. Our proposal is to make crafting combination Runes more rewarding for a little bit more effort - perhaps they could provide different Guardian Stones which offer more Elemental Points, without making the minigame faster. More on this soon!"

This was helpful, and I appreciate the heads up about crashers but you came across as really pretentious, but given it's probably because you were frustrated with new players crashing your solos instead of them learning in a mass. I tried some solos and failed, tried some masses, but I'm gonna watch this again and try more solos today, thanks!
edit: also cannot agree that max cape is the BEST cosmetic cape slot, there are some fun ones haha

The drop rate for the lantern is absurd…
The gameplay in the background made it a bit confusing to follow along. Sometimes what was on the screen was related to what you were saying verbally but most times it wasn't. Overall really good and it had all the information I needed, just had to jump around a bit.

FYI you can now get pouches from the rewards guardian. And you can repair pouches with 1 pearl, after unlocking it for 25 pearls

Quick Question: Can you explain the differences/requirements ( if any) in crafting Lava runes in the Guardians of the rift mini game versus outside of it? Does this increase Elemental Point rewards versus crafting regular runes in the mini-game?

Which combo runes are best to craft at each elemental altar? Is the multiplier based on the better rune, the altar's rune type, the rune you use on it, or something else?
I mean for the most runes crafted
Rune doesn't matter, I always make most profitable (steam at fire altar, muds at water and earth, mist at air)

Can confirm a charged celestial ring does proc giving additional shards which I consider one of the best uses for stardust to boost rc xp love the guide only one that helped me get the small aspects I hadn't understood just running in and winging it 🤣🤣
how come it doesnt deposit your earth and water runes every time you deposit all runes into the well
Very delayed answer but it’s because his bank does not have a placeholder for these runes. He would also have bank fillers to max out capacity so the specific runes can never be banked.
They just hotfixed obtaining the small and medium pouch when you already have the colossal pouch unfortunately.
Do I have to cross the portal and leave after each game to claim the rewards? If I don’t do I lose the points I already earned?

@@virulentskills225 if his alt leaves then theyre playing a solo scale game. He leaves his alt there for multiple games until they give up, he makes the world impossible to solo on because they crashed him.
People would just crash, get you to hop, and then reset the game and solo, winning the crash.
That said this is obviously just MAD if the crasher knows what they're doing. They'll just leave their alt in the world too.

Is the solo method still viable/doable after the updates? I tried it out and I was immediately having monsters attack the main guardian, not sure if I was doing something wrong or if the numbers just don't work anymore. Also is doing this minigame with 2-3 friends who are newish to the game likely to be better than masses?
I've been doing solos for a while now and it actually works pretty well. You have to adapt sometimes to make sure the gate doesn't go down, cause that's hard saving from that point.
I've been getting 52-60k/h depending on if I fail, because yes you still fail sometimes - inevitable. But it's like in masses when people only build Guardians and skip gates, so I find relying on myself rather than other careless people is nicer.
What I do is:
Build Barrier -> Mine until 40s left (you should get around 100-120 shards with v-armor4) -> build a Guardian -> build two Barriers. If you left at 40s you should have about 2s left before the first two altars appear. What you absolutely need here is a overcharged altar as one of the first two altars, otherwise you're going to have to skip the first Portal to make sure everything stays alive. This is not as bad as it sounds, you just skip the first cycle, make a strong Barrier and make sure you get an overcharged Guardian.
Craft 2 cells (If you get an overcharged this goes straight to a Guardian, other one is a Barrier. If no overcharged see above) -> Go to portal -> Craft runes -> Power big dude -> Save cell if it is overcharged, otherwise Barrier.
From here, you want to start making essence when the timer is on 60 (with the Runelite plugin), this should give you enough time to be able to craft your essence before the Portal goes up. If you have an overcharged cell at this time, you want to wait until your weak Guardian goes down to be able to summon another one.
At this point you should have two overcharged Guardians. It is very, very important that you don't go over 50% (sometimes it actually counts from 60%) before you have two overcharged Guardians. This is when the abyss becomes enraged.
From here essentially you wan't to keep the Barriers up with all the cells you get. If you have two inventories left to craft I wouldn't really care about one or even both Guardians going down as long as the Barrier is healthy. Sometimes you can get the last Portal, sometimes you don't actually need it.
Also this method really requires you to focus on the best altars, so I wouldn't suggest doing this before you can craft all runes. I wouldn't bother going into weak altars (if it's not one of the first two, this is dead time anyways). If so I'd wait another cycle and make essence during that time and hide my essence in my pouch to not ruin the rythm when going into the next altar. This method does work with 4 pouches, it's just a bit slower exp/h.

2 questions why do you make combo runes and why do you keep runes in your inventory inside the rune pouch why not just deposit them into the bank

Let's put this into perspective. If you could get 70k/hr starting at level 1 RC, and could do this for 4 hours a day, it would still take you over 46 days of doing it.
The reality though is that these rates don't actually start until after 85 RC. And no one can do this perfectly for 4 hours a day, so you're really looking at spending half a year to a year of your life doing just RC. How are people okay with this?

The complaints about crashers honestly sounds really selfish to me. The extra time to join is so nice because it can be hard to bank and get back in in time, I've certainly been locked out of games for that before. Now I feel like I have time to try my luck with some rewards, mess around in my bank a bit, and then get back in without missing a whole round. Getting rid of that just so you can gatekeep people (no pun intended) just sounds really lame.
It's fine in masses but in a solo to trio it is a guaranteed loss with a late joiner, I've seen people suggest it only not allow joins in small scale which would work great
Personally they could just leave this late-joining on themed worlds (for masses) because they're un-loseable if 5 people know what they're doing. Still losses happen though.
Is it not worth bringing small and med pouch once u have colossal, also once u have the full set do you not bring varrok armour?
I've been skipping the small in most places and bringing just medium colossal, you can sweat and bring varrock armor initially and then drop it but that's not really worth it

Instances aren't possible with a minigame like this. The game would close if you were solo'ing, it'd break constantly.
I think the easy fix for crashers is make the changes they've made only happen in themed worlds, and add a themed world for each major area like Wintertodt and Tempoross have.
Then it lets any small scalers just go to any other world thats free and start a game and once its started no one can crash.

You still get the same benefit as everyone else, it's just a bit less impactful with less essence

Idk about the cosmics, but he's using tome of fire which is infinite fire runes
I bought your recommendeds why would you recommend tome of fire at all. There are many holes too saying graceful doesnt matter here yes it does of you are playing solo and need weak cells.
