You can dodge the Spine mushroom damage by waiting until it stops moving then running past. The mushroom covers 4 squares and is fairly predictable. Good guide!

BTW it is worth it to put your ax on crush (assuming you have it equipped) and stun a snake or two. Sometimes the tar monsters get stuck in such a way that they can attack you while you're trying to cut a tree. In this case just use your snake on the tar monster and you will automatically hit the monster. It helps to stand closer to the tar monster when doing this as I noticed when you are far away it takes forever and sometimes doesn't hit. GL 99 wc.

It isn't often useful to stay for more than a couple of laps if you like to use the fairly frequent clue nest drops.

I know this is old but you should have mentioned that the damage when you jump on the mushroom is a fixed 48+ damage, not 50% like you implied. Don't jump on the tree if you're making a lamp build and have less than 48 hp.
Thanks for the guide! I have the cut a redwood log sherlock master clue scroll. Thought it would be fun to grind woodcutting instead of dropping it (for some reason). I've been cautious of this method because it seems complicated like you said, but I feel pretty good about it now!

I've tried mushrooms a few times, but those tar monsters are fucking awful so I don't do it anymore. I know there's a mushroom chopping world, but there's not nearly enough people to make it worth it. All it does is make the tar monsters come pre-aggroed so it just notices you sooner.
@@GnomonkeyRS You're constantly baby sitting your monitor moving from shroom to shroom, I would consider anything afk as any method you can train while watching a movie with less than 10 seconds of time spent not looking at the film. Otherwise you're actively training rather than afk.
That's fair, sounds like yews are more up your alley. From my experience you spend a bit more time running around but also have more downtime at each mushroom than you would with yews

Poor XP title, at 98 wc get 75-80k xp per hour

at 90 you get 90k at 99 you get 100k+
And lvl 70 you get 55k-60k XP/h
