This movie seriously could've been the perfect send-off for the X-Men franchise. Puts almost everything back "into place", works as a sequel to "First Class", and we get to see all the OG movie X-Men ride off into the sunset, so to speak. As nice as it is to see Jean again, there's something incredibly endearing about Logan even being happy to see Scott.

Well tbh, ALL the xmen movies aged rather well all things considered. I enjoy them all FAR more than ANY of marvel studios phase 4 projects, i mean all of them... I even find enjoyment and fun in x3 where as phase 4 had me miserable.

I think most fans consider this to be the best X-men movie and honestly i agree! Seeing both versions of the same characters was really cool to see!

When it comes to the Professor, you may have forgotten but at the end of X3, the after credit scene showed his conscious being put into another persons body. Believed to be his twin (at least in the comics). So his former body was gone, but he transferred over to another in time.
Yep and the second Wolverine movie (The Wolverine) actually leads into this movie, so had they watched that first, they would have understood seeing Charles alive).

Those last two sequences of mystique’s decision with the piano playing and Logan seeing everyone are two of the more emotional scenes marvel has made.

I'm so glad you watched the Rogue Cut. This is definitely my favorite version of the movie.
Correction JV, Havocs abilities emanate in all directions from his body unless directly controlled. In the comics he does his best to focus them out down his arms out his hands but often comes from his core or chest
That reaction at 8:20 was priceless…🤣. “Hold on, collect your thoughts”. That’s exactly what happened when I watched this movie in the theatres. Like, didn’t Xavier die. Fantastic reaction as always, keep up the great work.
Somebody didn't stay for the after credits in that film to see that he wasn't exactly dead. Plus he hinted at how he'd beat it earlier in The Last Stand when he was lecturing that class in the beginning of the film.

I was legit so baffled at that time by how many people were confused by Charles Xavier being alive. They hinted/showed it multiple times in 2 different movies.

Fun fact: the scene where magneto stabs Wolverine with all those metal barbs is a visual homage to the comics where magneto takes out the adamantium out of his body

The final Mystique scene (as Stryker when retrieving Wolverine) was so unnecessary. It would have been a perfect point for the actual Stryker to get him.

He was still Quicksilver in WandaVision. But instead of the Aaron Taylor-Johnson version of him from the MCU/Age of Ultron, they brought him in as the same character but from Fox to shake things up.
He was pretending to be the actual Quicksilver. They show that somewhere that it's another guy.

Professor X did disintegrate in The Last Stand and then there was a post credit scene where he transferred his consciousness to his brain-dead twin brother. Earlier in the movie, he was giving a lecture to his students about transferring minds which led to that post credit scene.
Then he appeared in The Wolverine Mid Credit Scene where he and magneto approached Logan at an airport to recruit for the coming conflict which was this movie.
For an X-Men film it's quite full on at the end,the perfume gag at the beginning broke me😂
The Sentinels in this movie are much better than the ones in the comics. In the comics, they were mostly incompetent cannon fodder, but here they are nightmare fuel.
This movie is a 8.9 out of 10. I was tearing up just like the dude. The scenes were so powerful and deep and every little Easter egg from the previous movies, made this one the best X-Men movie for me. I will miss all these actors when they’re gone 😞.
9.5 for me. Days of Future Past is the greatest superhero movie ever made IMO
To me, X-Men Days of Future Past (theatrical) is the greatest superhero movie ever created. Thats saying a lot. Ive seen so many. I love so many. But this movie is full of so many timeless and effective moments, i couldnt in good conscience say any different. Somehow in two hours, this one movie highlights and celebrates the powers of every superhero on screen better than any movie before or since. And there are so many characters. So many super powers on display.
That by itself is not easy. But the movie also succeeds gloriously in juggling personal stakes and emotional stakes while telling a very complex story. Not only is DOFP one of the best superhero stories put to screen, it's one of the best sci-fi films about time travel. And how can you not love the way old Xavier opens the movie with the line "Is the future truly set" while his younger self closes the movie with "The future is never truly set"?? Its so beautifully poetic.
Then you have that amazing scene where old Xavier teaches young Xavier what hope is all about. That scene has been an inspiration for many viewers.
How can you not love ANY scene involving Evan Peters as Quicksilver? Which is funny since everyone hated the way he looked in the marketing for the film. He is one of the greatest superheroes ever introduced in any franchise ever.
In terms of pace and editing, i am so glad they cut out everything they did in the Rogue Cut. As John Campea perfect said in his review, there is not an ounce of fat in this movie. I wouldnt change any scene. I wouldnt change any line of dialogue. Nothing feels pointless or out of place. I dont want to add anything either. I dont want to ruin the breakneck speed of this movie.
We dont need the subplot about Beast and Mystique. It serves nothing within the context of this movie. We dont need the scene where Mystique destroys Cerebro. It was already destroyed. They had already figured out where Mystique was going.
We dont need the insinuation that Rogues power helped to create the Sentinels of the future. Its pretty clear that these Sentinels are using powers left and right. What matters most according to the screenplay is Mystiques power of transformation. The most important aspect of the Sentinels ability is in the DNA sequencing and re-sequencing which is on display throughput the whole movie, including the opening credit scene. Besides, the Sentinels of the future are nothing more than a framing device. They serve as a cataylst. We dont need to know anymore about them.
I personally hate that they took two great scenes and basically smashed them together. The scenes of young Magneto when he goes to collect his helmet and Bobby when he goes to save Rogue with the old Magneto have absolutely no business being laced together.
Also, I think Bobbys death in the theatrical cut adds more weight and power to the final standoff.
Finally, how can you not love the Sentinel X?? They are the most menacing and terrifying villains I've ever seen in a superhero movie. They are among the greatest robots ever put on film. As Roger Ebert once said, the greatness of a movie is a reflection of its villain. And this villain, these killer robots are phenomenal.
In the cartoon the Sentinels were cannon fodder, here they’re an unstoppable force. It’s terrifying.

The first 3 X-Men movies are connected, after that, they did a partial reboot - that's why the timeline is all screwed up and characters are younger or older (and recast) in these newer movies.
When Disney pulls the mutants into the MCU, I suspect the X-Men will have another reboot/recast.
So, from Logan's POV, Kitty puts him to sleep and he goes into the past. Once everything is done, he wakes up in this new reality. So his memories are from that past reality, and he wouldn't have memories from this new reality because his mind didn't experience it.
the mental time travel pretty much creates a backup of all the memories of the "traveler" so Logan replaced past Logan with future Logan's memories while the travel is happening, but once the process is done Logan overwrote his current memory with the memories of the erased timeline, so he is an stranger in the new present/future... that technically means he replaced himself with a different version of.... well, himself .
Between First Class and Future Past is a 10 year gap so Havoc learned how to control his power.
This is as close to source material as any Marvel film gets. It is nearly a direct translation of the comic of the same name.
One of the main differences is, Kitty Pryde is the one who travels back.
The Cuba Missile Crisis was in the 60's. When Wolverine traveled back to the past = 70's. No confusion necessary.

Eh, I don't think "The Wolverine" is *that* necessary, in the context of the X-Men movies as a whole. "The Wolverine" is largely standalone. Whatever setup there is to DOFP, is really just in the post-credit scene, which, in of itself, is largely isolated from the rest of "The Wolverine"'s story. And they don't even explain anything! Charles is just alive, and Erik has his powers. The beginning of DOFP pretty much tells you everything you need know before proceeding.

So it wasn’t PTSD that was happening to Logan when he saw striker. The taser being left on his body was slowly killing him which would have majorly disrupted the time line, especially wolverines. So he was quite literally experiencing history altering in his mind
Well JV, for your "how could they make such tech in the 70's" thing, remember that we had all the tech we have now, it just wasn't for public use yet, so if they get a military contract, that pretty much all the tech you'd need plus a dissection
Actually even in the comics havoc shot from his chest, but the system allowed him to channel it, and when he puts both hands forward it focuses it from his chest, through his arms.

This quicksilver was the best speedster we have seen. Speed is a hard superpower to make look as awesome as it is powerful
Actually, Charles Xavier transferred his consciousness into the other man's body(astro-projection), which was taken care of by Moira McTaggert back in X-Men: The Last Stand. It was probably a deleted scene that led to him calling out her name in the end of the movie, not to mention HIS cameo appearance in The Wolverine(much to Logan's shock and confusion).

Just so you know Justin, Havok shoots from his body in the comics too, he just can channel it to his arms, because he has better aim that way. But it will exit any part of his body if he doesn't channel it, but he can channel it however he wants.
The 'Magneto in the past and Magneto in the future' is one of the coolest parts in the movie.

That severed sentinel arm that got left in the jet wing is trackable, thats why in the main fight scene the sentinels were able to locate the xmen.

A lot of actors like Hugh Jackman, Henry Cavill & Chris Hemsworth pump their muscle before a shirtless shoot with exercise but also dehydrate themselves. That's how they look so jacked but veiny. And believe it or not some have CGI muscle. Ben Affleck's in BvS and Chris Pratt in the first Guardians both has CGI abs
They were watching the Rogue Cut. The original theatrical version edited Rogue out of the film. I've heard that including Rogue in the film explains how the Sentinels were able to mimic mutant powers, as she can absorb and then mimic the powers of any mutant she touches. But Mystique's ability to shapeshift and mimic others fills that plot point adequately and kinda renders Rogue's involvement redundant. So I can understand why she was cut from the film.

About Xavier, I remember that he put his concious to his brother's body who were in long coma or something. At least that is why I remember it but they should make it easier to catch

I have a genuin issue with my girl about the movie "Not going they way she wants" and then blaming me!
I got "put in the dog-house" for about two days before she told me. Apparently, I was "too satisfied" with the conclusion and slept well when we went to bed. Upon finding out days later, I became violently overcome with laughter.. she knew from that day I would never take her seriously again lol dw, just when it comes to movies and shows.

In the comics, Havok can shoot from his entire body. Not just his hands. He uses his hands for smaller more direct blasts.

Nimrod is a Sentinel. It is an evolution of Master Mold and like Terminator is sent back in time, to destroy the X-Men before they defeat the Sentinels in the future.

New technology is often created out of necessity. In a world where mutants are known by some of the top minds, whether they be good or evil. It is kind of believable that they would have far more advanced weaponry during that time than what we had during the same time.

The flash can carry people when running. I’m not sure which flash you are talking about but if he couldn’t it would be because of how fast he is actually moving, because he has to wear a friction proof suit just so he doesn’t combust, quicksilver doesn’t seem to worry about this, which makes me think that he isn’t as fast which means running for him doesn’t have the same repercussions
The ending scene where it's revealed to be Mystique from what people have said the scene was meant to be different. Scene played out the same as it did here but they don't show Mystiques eyes so for the audience it is Striker obtaining Wolverine for the Adimantium project.

LOL, I do agree that young Stryker does remind me of Stifler. I still remember seeing a scene from X-Men: Days of Future Past at the very end of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the theaters and how that started so many rumors and fan excitement at a new possible cooperation between Fox and Marvel Studios. 1 of the best scenes of this movie & the next 2 X-Men films are the Quicksilver scenes. I still hope the MCU can somehow use this movie as part of their plan to bring the X-Men into the MCU. I know Kevin Fegie wants a reboot, but I'm sure he also knows how popular and well-loved this movie is and he also knows what fans like and want, including bringing back Charlie Cox as Daredevil, bringing Patrick Stewart back for a film and using this Quicksilver in WandaVision (I still think there are future plans for him still). I think they could still somehow use this movie or the ending to do some finagling of the timeline and multiverse.
