Cutting Up A 1932 Ford Firewall For Jay's Channeled 1932 Pickup

- In the last update on Jason's 1932 Ford Pickup, he built custom cab mounts to bolt his cab into place. Now that the cab is attached, Jason is going to work on fitting the stock 1932 Ford firewall back into the cowl. The firewall is going to need some work as the cab is now channeled over the frame rails. Jason works on removing the stock feet, notching the firewall, and building replacement feet to get the firewall bolted back into place. Once bolted in the firewall needs to be cut for the transmission bell housing. After some cutting, the engine goes back in to make sure it fits!!

Jason, if you need to cut it up....do it!!! We need one for our 30 Coupe... really like the Tri-power Pontiac motor, we are doing something similar, we are using a 58 371 Oldsmobile with factory Tri-power for our 30 Ford Coupe.... Be safe!!
God Bless!!
I enjoy riding along to see all the victories, fails and adjustments that you have to make as you progress through the build. Thanks for sharing all that with us.
Your comment about having to cut the firewall reminded me of a bumper sticker I saw at a car show decades ago."Anybody can restore a car.It takes a real man to cut one up".Great work you're doing. Looking forward to seeing more.
Nice job Jay
Cool 😎 nice job your getting there get on more......can't wait to see her on the road great video ty Steve
Awesome job Jason. I can't wait to see this truck rolling down the road. Keep at it!!!!!!!!
Good to see progress on the truck Jason. I like what you did with the firewall. Looking forward to seeing the next video.
Good to see you making progress, Jay. Truck is going to be excellent!
Coming along nicely Jay can’t wait to see you driving it around!!!!
Thank you for sharing
Looks good like the pickup body style
Nice job on the firewall jay. Keep plugging away and conquering those “small victories “ as I heard someone once say . Looking forward to your next video.
nice to see an update on the project and it looks good. have been wondering lately and hope to see another vdo soon.
Nice work
You’re first cut is always the most difficult….. then your confidence builds. 👍👍😎👍👍
Great job Jay, looks like your making good progress 👍👍. Hope we keep getting updated on your truck.
Thanks Jason great video. Would loved to see from the inside as well, although i appreciate this will probably be a separate video. Many thanks
Like what you're doing, I like seeing engines other than the flathead and small block Chevy. Two things: better eye protection, and hearing protection. Used to do this full time, several trips to Emergency to get metal chunks pulled out, and now occasional tinnitus. Don't use yourself up!
Pardon?
Awesome videos - I am building a '32 truck as a rookie hot rodder - these videos give me some ideas. Keep em coming !
Nice job. Beautiful truck
Look on the fire wal on the truck looking good see you on the next one from steve c from state Oregon
Very nice fab work. So simple and so strong. Keep up the great build!
Excellent fab job, Jay! It's great to see you are using Milwaukee tools too-I do too!
It's amazing this kind of work can be done without using all Eastwood tools.
looking good
Very cool vid!!! 👍👍👍👍
Nice Jay!
Nice job 👍
Looks great Good luck
Looking good. This inspires me to work on my 32 pickup. But I've got a GOW job T bucket project I'm working on first!
I love watching the progress of this truck!
Making great progress on the 32 it takes a real man to cut one up is what they say firewall is really hard to get right especially with Pontiac motor and cab slightly channeled the new feet&bracket is critical for door adjustment also I used original ring and flat piece of steel on my pick-up running s/b Chevy though at least you can blame Pete for any backlash keep trudging through the many steps to get it running only took me app. 30 yrs.to get mine on the road but first drive to York was worth it 2'45" trip
This truck gets better looking with every episode.I like the try-power,but a351 Ford would look nice too.
Nice Video.

Nice video! Very informative, what's the bike against the wall by the press?
Dang, Jason, nice ride. You forgot to mention that motor is a Pontiac, I would guess a 389. The unusually tall valve covers make is difficult to recognize.
It’s a 389. I have the stock valve covers but I have to get spacers to clear the rollers. So for the time those morosos are on there.
@@theabyssgarage They look nearly identical to the factory '64 to '66 chrome GTO valve covers, except taller. I'd keep the Morosos rather than have spacers which could leak and look funny. Just my two cents. Cool look !
If the bead did give you a clearance problem you might have been able to cut it out and reverse it and weld it back in? Behind the engine it wouldn't be noticeable but a OCD gearhead would but think it cool lol.AL B.
Cool truck. What’s the story on the ‘70-‘71 Tempest/LeMans?
I have seen folks flip the firewall backwards
Nice job on firewall. Is that a Pontiac engine?
Pretty cool, but couldn't you have just reversed the firewall and gotten more clearance without so much cutting? Just a thought.
What I like about the way he did it was just modifying it only where needed. Look how far back the sides of the firewall stick into the body. I think that would look terrible as well as rob unnecessary space from inside. Even the ribs would be inside and look bad on the outside to my eye. The way he did it, the modifications just look right. Great job Jay! Are you going with a mild chop? Good look either way I think. That's one of the few chop jobs that I would be comfortable doing.: )
Where does Matt buy his scrap metal? I live local near Quakertown, thanks
First and nice video
Not first but sure nice! Glad to see you and your truck again Jay!
So, evidently... who's Jay? And, nice metal working. I liked your little press brake. I gotta do one up like that. 😎🤘
He is part of the ITG family.
@@g.o.b.2558 Thx 👍
So there is two iron trap garages
As far as I know there is only one Irontrap garage, Jason helps Matt quite a lot and gets idea’s and help from Matt when needed, this is to show other projects by the people of Irontrap
Once you start cutting, there’s no turning back.
Looks like somebody needs a haircut, give Kate a call.
Whos jason this is not iron trap garages shop.
Jason works with Matt at Irontrap, instead of waiting for space in the workshop, and at the same time not waiting in a line for a chance to work on his own car he does it at home, with help/inspiration from Matt as and when needed
Who is this I don't remember ever seeing him on our truck garage what is it a scammer?
He is part of the ITG family.
Not iron trap garage ..
He is part of the ITG family.
Scamming?????
