    Funny. Just about the same as my Bronco. A 73, no transmission, dana 20 was taken apart in the bed, and red. Just put n a new AX 15 and rebuilt the transfer case. New carburetor got the OG 302 running. New gas tank, twin sticks, and wiring harness about to go in. Crazy thig is my wife named it Bobcat Betty. I brought it home the same day Betty White died and we saw a big bobcat on the property. Ha.

    Loooong time subscriber and diehard fan that's hearing words my Jeep loving heart has been waiting for: suspension, big tires, twin stick....oooh la la! Bring it on! Let the games begin!
    Betty Boop Bronco is beautiful and is one of the only off-road vehicles I'd ever consider over another Wrangler.
    Oh my! I'm so excited🤘🤘🤘

    I spent 3 years with my employers 66 bronco, and loved every minute that I drove it. It was a true off roader that would barely go 50 mph! I daily drove it for my job and it was a beast.

    I love early Brocos. We used to drive my buddy's Bronco in the snow and go around pulling people out of the deep snow just for fun. I'll be watching this one!

    @pkuudsk9927 Před 5 lety

    Thank you for not putting an LS in it . I learned how to drive in a 1967 3 on the tree Bronco . It was our shop plow truck . They have a soft spot in my heart . You will never loose money on that truck they just keep going up in price, so buying it was a smart move. I am still sore at my Dad for selling it when I was away at school for 500.00 bucks. It was 100% original drive train even the clutch ,rode like a barn wagon but I loved it . Keep posting the build and I will be here to watch.

    A refresh for Betty Boop Bronco,sounds like an awesome project.You guys are an inspiration and great motivators.I have a 2004 GMC Canyon with a 5 cylinder that the head went bad on so 2 summers ago I installed the new head but during the reassemble I got the timing off,so after 4 months of doing all this work it didn't run,I felt defeated and gave up.After watching your videos and social media for a while now I have decided to try again except this time I'm going to yank the motor and tranny out so I can actually get to everything and make sure it's right.Emily and Aaron you are one of my favorite channels on CZcams and do so many great things for the car community,2019 will be a great year and can't wait to see what adventures unfold.

    Love to see the AOD - my 76 is running 4.11 on TruTrac front and a locker rear. Cruise is 57 mph @2,700 rpm on BGF 33s = 8.5 mpg. B&M C4 with a BTI deep girdle pan. Great rock crawler but mileage is a killer. 302 Edelbrock with Holley Truck Avenger but even with a big main & aux it takes a lot of fuel.

    Really looking forward to this. My '76 Bronco has similar oil issues. I bought a salvage Explorer meaning to do the "Explorer swap" on mine, but have never gotten around to it because my Bronco's 302 just won't quit (and I have too much fun driving it). Hopefully, your videos on this will inspire me to finally start tackling the project.

      Spyder Garage Yes!! We’re so far behind on editing, like you are! I think folks want more frequent content as opposed to wonderfully edited less frequent ones! It’s hard for us though, because we like long episodes that tell a story from beginning to end!!

    Over a year ago, I saw a picture of a V-8 engine in Betty Boop's cargo area. I speculated that an engine change was in the offing. I was right, but the recipient was a red Ford pickup truck, not Betty, herself. It's good to see the old girl getting a make-over. It should be an interesting project. Adelante! as the local Tejanos would say.

  • @mebordernoneya8484
    @mebordernoneya8484 Před 5 lety +1

    Possibly an opportunity missed with the carbureted explorer engine and AOD. A much more reliable combination would be to keep the fuel injection, and keep the PCM and swap in the 4r70w from the explorer. The 4r70w would easily handle all the power that 5.0 can offer, even with a cam, intake, and headers. The AOD my not be happy behind that much power over stock.
    The AOD swap is very do-able, but will require tearing it down to change the output shaft and tail shaft housing unless it is sourced from a 4x4. 4r70w would have be same problem, unless the explorer was 4x4 (which up here would be almost a given)
    If I were to do this swap, I would be looking at upgrading to the A+ OD servo, lentech constant pressure valve body, and upgrading to the one piece input shaft and wide ratio gear set from a 4r70w. Doing this eliminates the weak inner input shaft of the AOD which is probably the most likely part to break behind upgraded horsepower/torque, unless the OD band wears out first.
    With the upgrades above the AOD can survive 400+ horsepower, but without them longevity beyond 250hp can be a crapshoot. The 4r70 is good to 400hp out of the gate without any mods. I love the AOD, but the 4r70w is a better option all day long if you can handle the electronics.
    Looking forward to the build!
