I've coached youth sports for the last 8ish years. I rarely have issues with opposing coaches. I rarely have issues with referees. I rarely have issues with kids. I have constant issues with parents.
People are soft.. this was nothing.....
@justin2997
People are soft? This is nothing? You’re not too bright, and with that attitude you’re definitely the problem. You are exactly what we don’t want anywhere around the kids or the game. Maybe that was you assaulting the umps? Get lost.

If parents paid as much attention to academics as sports....
Preach!
That's just crazy talk!
Yes I don't see the high schoolers in Japan running around bashing their brains chasing a pig skin
Parents dream of that big sports scholarship for the kid, knowing the academic one is unlikely.

Parents are by far the worst part of youth sports.
20+ years ago I worked @ a High School in Northern NJ. Grounds Dept. We prepped the Sports Fields etc. I can't tell you how many times these Parents wanted their kid to play 3rd base, or this position or that position. "Coaches, what do they know" was the general attitude when it came to their kid. They knew best, lol
@@Sideler74 🎯
The parents who cause the worst problems with coaches are the same parents who cause the worst problems with teachers and administrators.
Parents are the worst part of schools and the education system. Period.
Blue made the right call. Left hand got in prior to making the tag. Close but safe.
Parents have ruined everything. It's a shame.
Blue is a color.
@rayray... you obviously never played baseball.

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT..!! He got in UNDER-THE-TAG...!!! I saw it on the VERY FIRST SHOWING..!!!!
I would be ashamed if my parents acted like this, especially over a baseball game. This world is becoming a scary place.
Yeah, the world's somehow getting worse even though this happened in the 1990s all the time, too.
This is not new. Unfortunately.
I believe these parents were the first generation that "could not" be spanked when doing something wrong. It all went down hill from there. And I said spanked not "beat" for you liberal nutjobs.
I mean the team is getting punished because of the parents of the other team. Makes zero sense.
In Hawai'i a high-school football game was canceled for just this reason❗️ parents 🤦😡
As an official of sports for 22 years, this is exactly why there are no officials for any sports.
100%... to many sideline/bleacher coaches!!!
That’s why I quit coaching, umpiring and reffing. Sad because I enjoyed working for the kids. Parents ruined it
But that's not really relevant to the story here. The gist of this story is that the WRONG parents got punished. The claim is that the people who attacked the umpire were from the losing team. I'm all for penalizing teams because of bad behavior from their parents and fans. But penalizing BOTH teams for the misbehavior of only one team? I get that life ain't fair but come on man, we've gotta be better than this.
correct, i coached but parents are jerks and i quit.
@@viking956 that is totally incorrect.
The home team game management is responsible for the safety of ALL game participants. Del Campo HS should've made sure the umps had a safe facilty or secure area exclusive to the game officials. This is completely on the home team for this. These umps are contractors. The scholl must provide them with a safe place to work. The people whoattacked those ups should've been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. The problem took place on the Del Campo HS campus. They are liable for this incident.
The fact that the kids are laughing at the violence just goes to show the times we are in very very sad
I also heard the kids Laughing!! You're So Right!! It's Very Sad!! They don't get scared or cry!! This World is Totally messed Up!! I Feel Bad for the Children!! 🤦🤷☹️

Am I crazy or is this a completely misleading report? It's presented as the game was forfeited because of the fight. But 1:16-1:26 clearly says that CIF made the forfeit because they took batting practice when they weren't supposed to take batting practice. They forfeited because they broke competition rules. NO ONE was punished for the fight.
Sure, it seems like CIF is dropping the ball in terms of responsibility for the fight. But they did NOT punish Del Campo as a result of the fight as the reporting implies (and everyone in the comments seems to have taken away from it). They punished them for breaking rules.
EXACTLY. Way to go, "news source". Make it clear as mud as to what actually happened.
Scratching my head wondering how the news station can run such a blatantly misleading story like this.

I get so tired seeing those doing nothing wrong being punished for those who are breaking rules or laws. Those parents attacking the umpires need to be punished either by law enforcement or banned from watching the games, but they should be the only ones to suffer.
Better yet, suspend their children from playing for the rest of the season.
@@Yooper2024 sounds like a true troll comment.
@@jasonj1376 Nope. Bad parents won't learn anything except when their children are affected.
@DC9417 a bad parent can't do anything if they have a restraining order against them or are locked up. Then, the innocent child can continue to benefit from playing their sport. It boggles the mind you actually want to punish the innocent for the sins of another.
@@jasonj1376 So, am I to take it you are a bad parent?
Parents are the problem. I’m not sure if the laughing is related, but hearing kid’s laughter while the assault was taking place is really disturbing
The parent (and sometimes coaches) situation in youth baseball is the worst it has ever been. There are two solutions: 1) ban all parents from attending games. 2) have police officers be at every game and stay until the umpires leave. It has come to this because adult children have decided to go crazy over a game.
Our state has police officers at every game especially playoff games.
How about jail time for these altercations? There sure seems to be enough "video evidence" of such cases.
They never grew up beyond grade school! They have no business raising kids. I'll bet they are more serious about a baseball game than self-improvement or voting for someone who will make their communities safer and more prosperous.
I've know of one HS football, had to go through a metal detector. Parents are vicious, shame their children learn the behavior too.
It's the "adults" fragile egos, Nothing else. These Pathetic, Moronic Adult Children are never, ever gonna grow the F Up.
Years ago my daughter played softball. I was at the game with both sides screaming at the umpire, which I thought he was doing a good job. About midway through the game, parents from both sides got into a brawl. After awhile, the umpire called the game. I could not believe that these parents acted like 5 years olds with temper tantrums. My daughter quit playing the sport after the season was over. Problem was I saw a lot more of this behavior from parents.
Umpire association should refuse to work those schools.
The one school did nothing wrong. Why should the umpire association punish the innocent party
@@TheChapelx Ok. You go and work their games.😛
@@TheChapelxthe home school is responsible for the safety of officials. They need to do more than just call the the police after the fact.
Also don't forget the home team broke league rules with the same day batting practice.
What the heck!!! And we wonder why kids are out of control. Kick parents out of games. Hope those parents are jailed.
Del Campo (Home team) broke the rules of taking batting practice during class time which the traveling visitors weren't allowed to do.
Then why not make that perfectly clear. This is the level of ineptitude in our "News" sources today. It's why I don't watch much anymore.
That is the whole reason they had to forfeit. The fight just helped make the CIF aware of the extra batting practice. The team is trying to say it was unfair because of the fight, they are just finding someone to blame since they broke the rules.
I mean… if taking batting practice during the school day on a game day is against the rules, then it is what it is. If they forfeit their win because obvious fans of the losing team attacked the umps, that’s absolutely ridiculous.
As host team the safety of all attendees (including umps) should be their priority and responsibility
They said in the video... they were made to forfeit because of the batting practice they took. Banning parents, games at neutral site... that was because of the fight.
The headline was clickbait.
Was not controversial, he was safe. Parents and coaches are destroying sports.
The forfeit was NOT because of the fight. The forfeit was because De Campo took batting practice during the school day
Exactly Right it’s called breaking the rules
So they knew this before the game.
@@rayg3354yup. They can legally permanently ban you from the playoffs.
Wow, let’s just forget about those pesky things called rules.
They really didn't make that clear. They first talked about the fight then brought up the batting practice. They then stated "as a result" the school was punished. "As a result" of which? Way to make it clear.
The real reasons for the forfeiture of the game was because of batting practice not the fight?
like how they glanced over that, but that seems the be the issue, not the fight.
That's what he said. Apparently, it had nothing to do with the fight!
Total lack of journalistic ethics in this reporting.
The home team used this to their advantage to skip class time and take batting practice. While the visitors were on a bus to the game and not allowed to take extra batting practice.
Blanket punishments are ridiculous. The INDIVIDUALS that created the disturbance need to be held accountable, not everybody. The individuals should have been arrested and IF their kids were on one of the teams then only those kids need to go
didnt the video say they were punished because of the early extra batting practice they took? Nothing to do with the fight
No one dares actually discipline wrong-doers any longer.
@@mptr1783 Doesn't it seem a little unintuitive that a team would be told to forfeit a win because of extra batting practice? Does that seem like the kind of punishment you'd have on the books for that crime?
@@Murchad99 So please show me where I said I agree the home team who took batting practice during school hours should forfeit? I simply pointed out the reason for the forfeit was NOT because of the fight. But, since you brought it up, the home team (Del Campo) did something that wasnt allowed and was forced to forfeit. The Visiting team who had a parent attack the umpires should also have been disciplined(not sure if they were or not?).
Bro it's just a game. It means nothing.
So they cheated and the coach is mad that they got caught. He's using the fight as a smoke screen for taking batting practice during the school day. Are we not going to talk about that? This journalist needs to do better
This is the best explanation to date. I'm scratching my head that the game was even played, though. Did the information of the illegal practice come out later/after the game?
Maybe I'm wrong but it sounds like they weren't punished for the fight but for having their team take batting practice DURING the school day, which violates a lot of the rules. What else am I missing?
Nothing
Nice going parents, I'm sure you are raising another generation that will act just like you!!!!
Grandma Here, I remember parents respected the coach's & the call that was made! Parents & kids knew some games were won & some were lost! Why is it so hard to understand that!!!!
I refereed both basketball and little games … before every game, esp baseball, I would introduce myself to the stands, to remind everyone that this is a GAME, not a MAJOR sport competition. Never had an issue from players, coaches or parents.
I umpired Little League for several years. Never had another umpire with me however. Had to handle everything myself and over time you get tired of all the people in the stands coming up to you after the game, coaches refusing to shake hands because they didnt like a call, parents heckling from behind home plate. You could try to throw them off the field but there usually wasnt enough security or manpower around to do it.
Mr Miyagi: No such thing as bad players, only bad coaches and/or parents! Coach say, player do. Parent say, player do.
@mzbn5251 But they weren't born bad kids...they had to be TAUGHT those things you see.
I had the same experience years ago, when it went too far I called the game!
Same here. Parents can be brutal over a stupid little game.
@mzbn5251You ain't lying.
So they were banned from their next game for doing extra practice, sounds alright to me.
The reason for disallowing batting practice before the game is because the visiting team has no opportunity to take batting practice. The reality of the situation is that visiting teams arrive at the game anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour before game time. There is no way both teams can take infield and batting practice in that time frame. These are high school teams whose players actually have to attend classes on game day. Playoff dates and times are set by the CIF Section, not the schools. Invariably, the dates are during the week when school is in session. A school will let the players out early to travel to the game site, but they are NOT going to let them out early enough to take batting practice for an hour. That is just the way it is. The coaches know this and for the home team to have taken batting practice and received a forfeit is no one's fault except the coach.
Imagine that...parents that can't except a call on the field. No wonder more n more kids don't want anything to do w/ sports these days. When their own parents are the embarrassment....
This is what happens in a country when there is no consequences for bad behavior. It’s a free for all! Everybody knows that united we stand, and divided we fall.
If the game was played accordingly then what happened afterward is no fault of the players. Parents should be criminally charged, the kids should not be punished.
Yes and no. The parents represent the school as much as the kids and coaching staff do. This is a common punishment for poor behavior from spectators. Nothing new.
@@baseballumpires6901 I know it is old news, however I still believe the punishment is on the wrong ones. :)
@@alexasaltz4229 I get what you are saying but as I stated this type of punishment has been in place for decades. Quite frankly, was it enough? We have a major problem with keeping officials due to things like this. It won’t stop until consequences are at a point of being unbearable for the offenders.
@@alexasaltz4229 with that said. The consequences could be extreme. These parents would have been met with a 9mm pointed in their direction had it been me or many of the guys I work with. All I have to do is get to my car. Self defense is a God given right in this country.
@@baseballumpires6901 when my son was young, I wanted him to experience many things, so I enrolled him in different activities. He was exceptional at soccer and baseball. Angry adults hurling insults, parents belittling their children for an off game, etc. was not something my son wanted to be part of. Needless to say, sports in general were no longer of interest to him. After all these years, it still bothers me. I enjoyed sports as a kid, and in high school I was highly competitive. It was fun! I was never bothered by whatever happened with spectators, they were not competition. Not everyone can tune things like that out, ruining it for many others. Who knows? A left handed switch hitter who can sprint? Too bad I will never know if my boy could have played in the majors. Right...?
The decision for the Del Campo High School baseball team to forfeit that game was overturned the following day.
both my sons played baseball for most of their childhood years , all the way through high school. I regret subjecting them to it. I would never do it again. youth sports are a degusting and shameful, why anyone would want to ump a youth sports game is beyond me.
Ah, yes, pulling kids out of regular classes to have a good old batting practice five or six hours before the game. Exactly what you would expect. We can always count on the public schools to have their priorities straight.
You never had an Athletics Period during the school day? No need to take kids out of an academic class if you have an athletics period.
@@christopheralegria71 Every school does, but that doesn't matter when games are scheduled to take place during the day, or they have to travel. Kids miss more school and classes for sports than anything else under the sun. Probably more than all other reasons combined.
@accent77 That's true about games during the school day. The kids do miss a lot of classes during the course of the season. I responded because you mentioned pulling kids out of regular classes for batting practice. They didn't do that. They had their batting practice during the athletics period.
As an umpire, it is wrong for the players to be punished.
I didn't think it was the del campo families 😂😂😂
Imagine the conversation around these dinner tables..
As soon as the call was made the coach comes flying in waving arms and yelling, inflaming the parents.
The home school has the responsibility of protecting the officials.

It wasn't a "fight". It was an assault!!!
Sad when parents display this kind of behavior. We are supposed to set a positive example and the kids get punished for their bad parents it’s not right someone made the wrong decision
so....the cause of stripping them from the win WASN'T the fight, it was because they had batting practice during the school day to get a competetive edge. the headline's misleading.
It’s always the parents of kids who aren’t in combat sports who act the worst. You never see parents of karate and jiujitsu and kickboxing kids act like this lol
I mean , the report skipped over it super fast, but it seems that the school is being punished for allowing their players to participate in batting practice during the school day; thus gaining a competitive advantage that warrants a punishment. That THIS trash is what counts for journalism today is horrifying.
When the kids behave better than the so called adults.
Parents can be such a detriment
Outstanding!
“ Ok but in all SERIOUSNESS what’s up with the reporters hairline “
Umpire called him safe and out at the same time😂
The hardest part was determining where the high schoolers ended and the adults began in the video.
The fans that assaulted the umpires need to be charged with assault by the police. Let them handle it. Don’t penalize the kids for something that the visiting parents did.
The description states that Del Campo played Del Campo in the game. WHAT??
Replay confirmed the call on the field! Ump should’ve sued those parents and than that school.
Reminds me of the events here in Edinburg, Texas, wherein a deeply entitled player decided to assault a ref and had the league ban them from post-season play. The player was banned from sports for life.
I wish I could get a closer look at the call of the plate
I saw Del Campo with Johnny Burnette and the Big Bopper, way back in '58. Them cats was on it.
It amazes me how parents act when concerning something as stupid as sports! My son played baseball, basketball, football. I helped with baseball when he was young but when he got older I would always stand off to the side because parents ruined the experience just wanting to watch him play. Football was the worst! I would never sit in the bleachers. Everyone thinks their kid is gonna be the next big thing and get so worked up over it. I'm glad my son graduated. Parents need to just chill out!
And some people don't believe humans are primates. 😂

The people making these decisions must have been "blind" umpires in the past.
They should’ve done something to protect the umpires in the parking lot. It’s very common for angry players, parents, and coaches to wait for, or follow referees in the parking to harass or attack them

They won their appeal and the forfeit was overturned. You’re welcome.
This kind of behaviour is why I pulled my son from T-ball, many years ago. The parents are the absolute WORST. The lack of respect and the number of people who think their child is the next million dollar player is too much. One parent showed up at a game with a gun to threaten an ump. He was arrested, but that was the last straw…… a Tball game. Really? They are teaching their children well…………. It’s a shame that the students pay the price for this bad behaviour

Why can’t people remember it’s just a game? These so called adults should be ashamed of themselves. They’re supposed to set a good example.
