It was around 2:20 a.m. on December 19. 2016 when a fire started in the garage of the Taylor home in suburban St. Louis. When a non-monitored smoke detector alerted and woke up the family. They could detect smoke was in the air. As they walked around Ms. Taylor’s son opened the garage door to see four-foot high flames. The Taylor family attempted to put the fire out but was unsuccessful. Ms. Taylor was without her phone and needed to call 911, Ms. Taylor ran to her fire alarm panel and frantically pressed the fire button.
The signal was received at the Rochester Care Center by Stacey Fioravanti who immediately phoned the home and spoke with one of Ms. Taylor’s daughters. Her daughter reported a fire in the garage and asked for firefighters to be sent. Stacey then contacted the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District. The family safely waited outside as first responders battled the fire.
The cause was determined to be a van in the garage. Fire damage was contained to the garage, laundry room and dining room. There was smoke and water damage on the first floor. The Taylors will be out of their home for several months.
Ms. Taylor is a single mom, with college students. She owns a cleaning service. When she moved in to the home several months, a sales rep from a local dealer was door knocking so Ms. Taylor signed up for service. She is grateful ADT was there to help in her time of need.
