You read my mind. Pretty sure this is the best bass player I've ever witnessed and over 30 years of being a musician. One of his special abilities is not losing feel or the groove of the song when going crazy. Everything has its place. Perfect.

Your playing is simply amazing... I tend to listen to instrumental stuff while I'm working. Been hooked on Cello the last few years because of the satisfying tone. Now you have me completely addicted to the sounds of your bass. It's really making me wish I could learn to play one.
You should! I bought one last year at the start of the pandemic. I haven't always been consistent with school and work taking my time, but it is so fun regardless. I am a music student who has taken years of piano, violin, and other instruments, but the bass is the most fun by far.
It'll blow your mind if you give ut a chance.

You should do a reverse version where you do “the easiest song in the world” versions of traditionally hard songs.

the snow baseline is pretty easy to be honest. Guitar isn't overly hard either to play the riff once, but it takes so much stamina to play it so freaking often, it really is hard to due to that.

Hilariously familiar. My second guitar teacher was a HUUUGE RHCP fan and through him I learnt a bunch of songs by them, including this one. He was all “anti-tab, pro ear/theory” so the challenge was to learn it from what he gave me (key, tempo, scales) and use that with my ear to figure it out. I ended up accidentally learning all of Flea’s little embellishments with the guitar parts, plus I came away with a pretty swag hybrid picking technique that I had invent to play what I thought was just a guitar 🤷♂️ best mistake I ever made while learning guitar.
I also play with an unusual hybrid picking/finger style technique that was a result of teaching myself chilli peppers songs early in my guitar learning. Largely as a result of including bits of the bass lines.
Never managed to shake the habit, which results in me playing a lot of metal stuff with some odd finger picking because it feels more natural to me.
The real problem is that it also means I never learned to use a pick properly, so the moment I break my index nail I lose the ability to double pick and the like =/
@@seanocd There are special picks you can slip on your finger like a thimble. They come in the usual plastics, and steel.
My dad used super glue to strengthen/repair his fingernails, but his job was very hands-on and needed short nails, so the thimble picks were very useful.
He doesn't play as often anymore.

Fingerpicks don't really work for me.
When I'm playing a lot I get a single acrylic nail on my right index finger. It changes the way I play a little, but it is much more durable than the natural nail that I prefer.
@@seanocd Ah. I was going to suggest acrylic nails, but I have no experience of how durable they are.
(I don't like the feel of anything on my nails. Like, even nail polish feels heavy and slick; so if I want to punk up with black polish, I have to use the cheapest, thinnest kind.)
I'm not exactly an accomplished player and haven't touched a bass in years but I only ever learned stuff by ear, couldnt afford a teacher and CZcams didn't exist lol

Check out Eric Czar. I think he migrated over to being a Chapman stick player but he's very good. I picked up a fretless because of his playing on Joe Bonamassa Live At Rockpalast. Later I sold my fretless because of his playing on that album! He made it seem effortless.
