that's a whole day's worth of calories right there
No that's not how Doug is. I will guarantee Doug is Frugal af and is very careful when he buys and is very careful with what he buys
Also he would at least use a napkin
The zoom in was hilarious
@@DannerBanks I actually paused the video and looked to see if someone commented on the cookies right before the zoom-in. Nice to see that even the camera operator thought that was ... quirky.
I would have added one parameter:
You can buy ANY car at ANY price - infinite money - but once you've bought the car, you have to INSURE IT and MAINTAIN IT using your CURRENT income.
Insurance and maintenance destroys all dreams...
(Great video, Doug!)
Yes! I think this is a very important parameter for realism
Love this idea.
Would get a new boring car, like the Corolla or Civic (i am aware it is a little sporty but still), since maintenance is not too expensive.
I can't afford to have 3 cars then!
Easy answer: I get an 250 California Spider and use it as a piece of furniture, in my living room, I sell off the engine, whatever, no insurance no nothing, just to watch it every time I get home. I can probably afford a Toyota GR for a daily and a nice weekend car, probably a Porsche Cayman or something.
Unedited, spontaneous Doug is the best Doug 😂
You know Doug truly made it when he already HAS his dream three “if money were no object.” Good for him.
Material objects are not “making it.” Realizing one’s full potential in all personality aspects important to said person, eg charity, kindness, skill sharpening, utility, etc are much closer to “making it,” when “making it” is defined as distance traveled on the path to pursue happiness. Most folks agree that stuff / material objects fills no void and is of little value on the scale of what is important in your lifetime. When used as a measure of financial success resultant in applying oneself in a craft they love, as is the case of Doug, then it could be said he is on the path, however financial success is not a true measure of reaching a point on the path where one has “made it,” rather simply meaning they have walked the path of pursuing their dreams. Part of the equation at best.

Doug, Iove this infinite money three car challenge. For me this is very, very easily. As much as I love performance in cars and history, I want cars that I can use on a day to day basis, so I reduced my choices to categories.
First is my day to day car that should be comfortable enough to carry passengers with me. Second is my SHTF or my “for some reason I am going to Moab this weekend, or, it’s snowing and damn I need to go to Costco” car. My third car is my performance car, but more than being fast, I want it to be fun, I want it to make beautiful sounds, I want the steering to be communicative, it needs to be a manual, and I want the option of taking the top off so that my hair blows in the wind when I drive it on weekends. I may drive it to a cars and coffee from time to time. I don’t want the attention someone gets when driving a super car. All that said, here are my choices;
1 Brabus Restorations 1970 Mercedes 300 SEL 6.3
2 Proffit’s Resurrection Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser
3 Singer Porsche 911 Targa
All these are understated, well-built, classic and beautiful, and those in the know will know they’re special, very special, and I can use them and enjoy them daily for their designed purpose, all the while remaining unbothered with long stays in the shop, enjoying the timeless elegance, ruggedness, and fine tailoring of each to and for their purpose. Moreover, they are bespoke and fit my personal tastes to the extent that I am willing to spend money, perfect for a money is no object challenge.
Nice choice with the Singer, those are art on wheels.

2. 2021 Koenigsegg Regera in red
3. 2014 Mercedes SLS Black series in white
I wouldn’t mind a podcast where you and Kennan talk about cars and invite some car people
Whoever edited this video is a hero. Normal "Doug is his garage" videos are great, but this was peak
I love this type of videos. If the budget permitted, I would not be able to settle on just 3 cars, but here's what I thought of ().
- G55 AMG (torn between this and Q7 V12 TDI)
- BMW E38 L7
- Jaguar XKR S GT (torn between this and MC Stradale)
Though I'll probably change my mind 10 (times this week), especially since none of the above have a manual transmission.
Love your personal take on cars videos a lot
Sunday video is usually my favorite one
Thank You Doug
Awesome concept! For me it would have to be
1. New 4x4^2 G Class (daily)
2. Pagani Huayra (sports cad)
3. MB 300 SL Gullwing (classic)
Why? Firstly, I’m an engineer so the portal axels on the G^2 make me nerd-out as well as making the car vastly more capable than your standard bro dozer lifted truck. I do some light off-roading and frequently drive on rough roads so having a daily with some clearance and supreme comfort would be the dream. Secondly, the Huayra is an art piece to me and I think it’s the most beautiful car ever made. I’ve also sat on one and I found the materials to be really nice and the seats fit me well. Thirdly, I would get a classic gullwing as I’m a huge classic Mercedes fan and that’s the pinnacle of classic Benzs. Finally, I could make the Benz dealer mechanic suffer as I force them to service all three of my highly-specialized cars at the same dealership lol. Jokes aside it would make living with them less stressful.
Mine would be e63s estate for daily, pagani codalunga and dbx 707.
I find the old G way cooler. The new one they made it more "acceptable" and that's unacceptable
@@SHENRAR if you like a “worse” g wagon then get a Land Rover defender.
@@JS2000A I don't know what to say, the new 4x4^2 has IFS, which is obviously a downgrade in terms of off road performance to please those who only want it to show off and won't ever go off the pavement, the old one had both solid axles and, if we are talking off road, nothing beats solid axles.
i think the "unlimited Money" thing is needed for adding an Gullwing to the Dream garage :D
One of the best episodes ever. What You showed us here, is how good it is to have a petrolhead friend!
Good for You!
Here's my dream 3:
A needed big car - Mercedes Benz G63 AMG 6x6: This fills a lot of boxes: usability, off-roading (especially dessert, like that Top Gear episode), uniqueness and the parts which are from Mercedes. It does take a lot of eyes for some obvious reasons (like being a G-wagon on steroids) and I find it really attractive.
A needed sedan / coupe - Koenigsegg Gemera: This car does everything a car should do: it can be practical, it's Koenigsegg fast and the tech might be in insane levels. The fuel would be a problem, however money's no limit if I could ever afford a car like that. It is the ultimate 1-car garage in my opinion.
And finally, a sports car - Pagani Huayra or Bugatti Divo: This could go wherever and I still would be satisfied, both of them are throwable in track or on roads, they drive great, with what the reviews have said, and they still feel great looking them from the exterior to the interior. Pagani has the advantage of being more practical than Divo and sounding better, but the Bugatti is faster and more sleek, but they're still the best sports cars that money can buy(IMO).
We've truly done it now. More Doug, but without more Doug.

Thank you for including the 550 Maranello, my childhood dream car, one of the most beautiful car for me, V12 manual :)
Thanks to Doug, he solidified a 2019/2020 Mustang GT350 as my attainable dream car. S2000 is on that list too. Just something about those high RPM screamers that gets me going.
I gave you a thumbs up, but I need to tell you about my dream garage (which I finally finished updating a few years ago) The house was built in 1951 with a 30X30 garage which still has a buzzer connected to the kitchen where the guy's wife could push a button to buzz him as he worked on his antique cars in the 1950's and 60's. Now it contains my Tesla Model X plaid and my wife's Tesla Model Y taking up 2 of 3 stalls. There is a charger on the wall providing off peak power at 4 cents per kwh (plus tax). 18 solar panels on our roof here in MN provide enough electricity to push these cars over 1000 miles a month. At my age of 76, it's like a dream.
I like the cookies just sitting casually in his Carrera GT
Hey Doug, I have a fun exercise for the two of you to try. You get just one car for every letter of the alphabet.
For the letter A, you could have any Acura, OR any Audi, OR any Aston Martin, etc., but you only get one car starting with the letter A. For the letter B, you could have any BMW, Bugatti, Buick, etc., but only one car starting with the letter B.
Money is no object, and every letter is up for grabs, so potentially a 26 car garage if you get into things like Qoros and XPeng.
I'll do this in my head, and for some letters I find it to be surprisingly easy, while for others it can be exceptionally difficult.
My three somewhat practical “dream” choices that I’m planning to own in some capacity eventually:
Porsche 911 Turbo S for weekend getaways with the wife
Rivian R1S for daily driving around kids with the third row or picking up groceries or going on road trips
Ford F-150 Lightning for hauling around lumber and other large items and towing
I skewed towards electric because this would be in the future but still want at least one gas car to rip around in.
If you have two or less kids, use an R1T for family hauling, road trips, and lumber\etc. Then you get one more spot in the garage for another dream car. (I haul a toddler and baby in the R1T and, so far, it's perfect for it. Gear tunnel + bed with tonneau = more storage than an R1S. Nonetheless, I dig your garage. Excellent taste.)
Doug had fun with the editing. I love it, keep it up!
My 3 dream car garage would be:
1. 1968 Mustang Gt 2+2 fastback 428 Cobra Jet in Raven Black with Red interior
2. 1970 Superbird Hemi 4 speed in Blue Flame
3. 2023 Jeep Wrangler 392 Rubicon in the limited edition Reign (purple) color
that was awesome energy between you two and Kennan as the straight man to Doug's crazy is awesome!

I honestly think I'll have a very hard time coming up with a 3 car garage that I can't change, as I'll most likely get bored with at least 2 of them
The only guaranteed one that's staying is the Dodge Viper GTS '97, like the one Doug had. It's my favourite car, it's a versitile car, it does everything for me.

I've driven a few vipers. I don't know what the fascination is with them. They drive terribly, they don't handle, they're cheap and nasty inside. They're powered by a modified truck engine that produces surprisingly little power. To each his own, of course, I'm just always surprised at how popular they are
@@Bman1878 call it whatever but its a v10 and it has a manual. So for that price i think its really good. If they were available in Australia i can guarantee there would be a lot of interest

I agree with Doug. Certain cars draw attention no matter what. I have a lowly 02 Prowler and I can't go anywhere. I've had filling it up with gas take almost an hour. I take it to a specific gas station just to avoid that and still have problems getting out of there, sometimes. But sometimes is better than every time. I did not know that would happen when I bought it 15 years ago. And you have to be nice about it.
Interesting thought experiment... I'm not exactly sure which three I'd pick personally, but I know a Bentley Continental GT would make the list!

Fully optioned Chevy Suburban for groceries, road trips, and bugout. Chevy Bolt EV with a custom sound system for daily errands or getting around town fast and free. My current 3rd car is a modified Infiniti M30 convertible kind of a race car/ tuner car, mostly a car to tinker with when the urge arises. The third car is variable but it has to be convertible, fast, or unique
My "reasonable" Dream car garage is 2/3 complete! 2002 Camaro SS with T56 and 427 LS3, 2018 Fiesta ST and hopefully a supercharged Lotus Elise/Exige by the end of the year. The F body is pure Street/Strip straight line adrenaline, the Fiesta ST is a perfect daily driver that constantly begs to be driven at the limit and the Lotus will be my real hardcore sports car that is as close as I'll likely get to a exotic car experience.
