It's cute that the first thing Naruto asks after meeting his mother for the first time is how she and Minato fell in love. That's usually a question you'd ask as a small child, but Naruto never got to experience bonding with his parents growing up. This boy took 16 years of repressed nonfamilial contact and unleashed all of it onto his mom.

As per Kishimoto, paraphrased, Naruto is almost literally a clone of his mother but male, with his father's hair and his father's eye color. So pretty much yeah, he acts just like her and has her same general abilities.

Without A Doubt my favorite moment in ALL OF ANIME is Naruto Meeting his mother for the first time. Its been years and I still cant stop myself from chocking up over the scene its ACTUALLY The Most Heartfelt Moment in Media I've ever seen and has had so much build up and was SOO very needed for Naruto!
I cried like a baby when Naruto met his mom. Happy tears for once from thia show. Most tears are from tragedy in this show but this episode made me feel good.

Well no doubt it is better than twilight… but still, cool guy saving the damsel in stress then them falling in love is the most overused trope ever. It just shows that it doesnt take much to write a better love story than twilight. And im saying this as a naruto fan who loves kushina and minato… their love story lacks a single original touch.

I read the manga and almost cried, watched the episode years ago and almost cried and watching this reaction right now almost made me cry. Naruto came out in like 01 or 02 and I watched and read the manga until it ended in like 2011 or something I really cant remember. The manga was amazing the show was amazing and these reactions are amazing thank you.

So Tsunade was pretty right about Naruto's parent...he looks like his dad, but pretty much got the character of Kushina...So beautiful, the red thread of destiny...Also god damn, again with the cloud ninja ?!? I mean i get it, they are the second most powerful military power of the shinobi world and wants all advantage possible...but still, they should have learned !
he does not look like his dad. That is why no one recognized him, which helped protect him. As per Kishimoto, Naruto is for all practical purposes a clone of his mother except he has his dad's hair, his dad's eye color and the whisker marks. Kishimoto even used the same general template for drawing Kushina and Naruto.

@@blueblade6174 lol go look at the flashbacks to when Kushina and Minato were 10 to 12 years old. Naruto literally looks like his mother but a guy. Minato looked more girlly than her. It is also clearly stated in the manga, I want to say chapter 495 to 500 somewhere in there. HIs mother actually apologizes to Naruto for Naruto looking like her.

So to be clear, in japanese Naruto says a lot *"ttebayo"* at the end of his sentences (and not "datebbayo" like most people think for some reason, the "da" comes from a formula when you tell your name that's all, if you listen properly you'll know) and he got that from his mother who says *"ttebane"* a lot, it's not a catchphrase, it's a weird habit when they're getting excited or angry. That's why he said a lot *"believe it"* in the beginning in the dub, to have a substitute when there's no proper translation. Now they say *"Ya know!"* , they didn't know when they first translated how important it would be for Naruto's character, that why it's inconsistant ^^ after looking up several versions, several languages, I think something like "Dammit" would've been closer to the vibe in japanese, but I don't think american tv would authorize this, (I'm not a native english speaker, correct me if I'm wrong) :)
Great observation! You are perfectly correct. A sentence in Japanese ends with “da” in the assertive form (when you make a strong statement). So, the “da” part changes depending on the sentence structure! (I’m japanese)

I remember watching this episode when it first aired. I watched both versions subs and dub and it still gets me. I watched this episode just a few years after my mother passed away. It hit me so strong..... And I have had similar dreams of meeting up with my mom, and just like Naruto did, I hugged my mom and cried, cried, and cried... I feel everything what Naruto felt. Only that his feelings are stronger because he never met his mother. But I completely understood him. The music, the close up of Naruto's aching and crying, it all bring tears to my eyes. And what this series made me realize that I have a ever lasting gift from my mother, which is my name... A mother's ever lasting gift to their child, is their name... I treasure this episode so much. Its just perfectly written and animated.

Naruto had a 15 year run. So yeah, finally meeting his parents was a long time coming.
This will always be 1 of my favorite episodes, all get teary-eyed so many years later, I've been watching shippuden since 2007 in Iraq and yeah it was week to week including fillers so it did go so many years to finish
She, karin and nagato are all from the Uzumaki which are well knows for their chain seals and are have very special chakra and tend to have large amounts of chakra than normal, their the senju but less wood

This is genuinely one of my favourite backstories in all of anime. Just the few episodes made me feel so many meaningful emotions and I just want to say that the music too is just so memorable ❤️
The animation of this was special, I felt this was done with special care.
Uzumaki’s mostly all have red hair, Karin and Nagato(Pain) were Uzumaki’s too which is why he was able to weird the rinnegan without being it’s original user. The Uzumaki’s are known for their extremely high chakra reserves which is why they’re always the vessel for 9 tails.
I love this episode now Naruto finally met both of his parents her and Minato are a perfect match

The uzumaki were a clan from another village. The village fell apart do they integrated into the families in the leaf village. They're so influencal they have the crest on the leaf uniform (the red swirl) but I think Naruto is the only uzumaki line (others married into other clans)

Minato and Kushina's love story is one of my favorite.
when kushina said she has special chakra, its because she's a uzumaki. uzumaki clan is known for thier emense chakra reserves. even without kurama's chakra naruto would still have more chakra than a normal ninja because he's also a uzumaki

The special power(chakra) she was talking about is the binding chains that were powerful enough to bind a tail beast , at this juncture in the anime only two uzumaki women are said to hve that binding power , Karin is frm uzumaki too, but she hasn’t develop it yet , uzumaki clan has a special trait of red hair , Nagato is frm uzumaki too

This is my own head cannon, but i think it fits. Killer Bee and Kushina are about the same age. So they tried to kid nap her so they could put the 8 Tailes in her. This has never been mentioned, but when you put things together, it makes perfect sense.
Karin and Nagato are both Uzumaki's because their clan has really high chakra and sealing powers.

This is a super late comment but I'm 31 and I started reading naruto in middle school. By the time this episode rolled around I was a sophomore in college. Naruto has some of the best feelings of payoff when getting character closure.
uzumaki's are known for their red hair and sealing jutsu's. Plus they naturally have large amounts of chakra. So yes, they are related technically speaking.
Man I got made fun of in high school (2009) for watching this and playing Naruto Ultimate Ninja. Didn’t stop me tho. It’s crazy to see how popular it’s become since then. Nowadays, I see all kinds of ppl of all ages wearing Naruto merch (80% of the time it’s Akatsuki related) like oh NOW it’s cool…😤

maybe someone has told yall in the discord , but, now that youre here , the Uzumaki clan was disbanded. so they dont have a actual village or home. red hair was a key trait of the clan so yes , karin and naruto belong to the same clan. part of the reason why the cloud went so hard at the leaf was because they along with alot of other places saw them as being to powerful, they had the senju - 1st & 2nd hokage and tsunade, the uchiha , the hyuga and now the uzumaki. all 4 have added ''superpowers'' others will be reviled in like 60 episodes. but naruto and karin's healing is one. naruto's high amount of chakra , and karins sensory stuff.

The fanfiction community has 100% latched onto the idea of young Kushina calling him "Sissy Namikaze" XD And Minato being a Pikachu is ALSO a meme, funny enough! In all sincerity, though, Kushina and Minato's love story is so incredibly wholesome and I will never get tired of it. Minato always believed in her. He could tell from the first time he and Kushina met that she was strong, and only ever stepped in when things became a matter of village against village. He respected her that much. I think Minato's only fault was that he didn't at least become friends with her before then. But then again, if he had a childhood crush on her, I suppose he might have been embarrassed to approach Kushina. lol

I first experienced Naruto in manga form, fan-translated. I don't remember them ever trying to translate "ttebayo". I only knew about "Dattebayo!" and "Believe it!" through cultural osmosis. So when I finally got to this part, I was weirded out. It's like the translators went "Oh crap! This was going to be a plot-point?! Well...too late now." So they just had Kushina go "Kock it off, teBAnE!", and Naruto go "Mom! I always wanted to meet you! tEbAYo!" 🤣
