- In Part 2 of the series on Retiring in BALI we look at some of the options available for retirees for accomodation and lifestyle.
I found a newly completed complex specially designed to attract Australians looking to retire in Bali and offering much more than you would expect for the rent they are asking for.

Muz, stop promoting Sanur, its our hidden gem and we wanna keep the crowds away!!!!!
Jokes, but its such a fabulous chilled vibe there, we love it we have a young family and for us its just the best part of bali!!
Might run into u when we are there next!!
I'm 57, and hence marching towards retirement. That video has got me thinking.
For this actual accommodation you need to be 67-70 and on an Australian pension. Check the actual website for eligibility. ( correction, have been advised by CHL that it should read age 55-70)
@@gregrichardson2070 thanks for the clarification. I'm okay with the idea of a minimum age requirement of 67 - not sure why they are excluding self-funded retirees though. Anyway, I'm sure there are abundant alternatives in Sanur.
@@jamesplunkett9567 Yes, I just wrote to CLH as I'm a self funded retiree but may be eligible for a small part Gov pension when I turn 67.
James, I have been in contact with CHL and the website on AMANDESA is incorrect with the applicant ages listed. They confirmed its age 55-70 ( not 67-70 as shown on website - they will update the website at some stage). The only reason they put limit to age 70 is because health insurance becomes more expensive in Bali after age 70, however, they also advised that if tenants can afford the insurance they are welcome to continue living there or apply for accommodation. In addition, they also advised that even though Australians were preferred tenants, they do accept overseas applicants. I received some great information from CHL, but I did ask a LOT of questions - lol
So Murray, that helps solves a few loose ends
@@gregrichardson2070 Did CHL confirm that a potential tenant has to be receiving an Australian pension? And I'd imagine a retirement visa would need to be obtained.
My first ever trip to Bali last year we stayed at Sanur and Uluwatu. Sanur turned out to be a fantastic location, less crowded and less touristy and it's quiet and peaceful. We had friends staying at Kuta and they told us they were constantly being haggled at Kuta beach and it wasn't a pleasant experience at Kuta.
Kuta beach was terrible. It would have been lovely to be able just have a drink and watch the sunset without being constantly hassled
I totally love this concept, may be an option for me when I retire as I know full well I am going to find it majorly difficult to afford retirement here in Australia. It's a beautiful relaxing setup that's for sure
True Muzza, I've stayed in Sanur many many times. Quiet, peaceful and the locals are so easy to REALLY get to know. My btother, a world traveller, wants to come with me this year as the gardens are so beautiful everywhere.
Good work Muz , your advocacy for Bali certainly provides food for thought on retirement. Arguably, due to the lower cost of living over there , it opens the door to earlier retirement than in Australia. That and it’s only a few hours to nip back if you need to, it’s certainly an attractive option. Thanks for another great vid 😊
Thanks for the effort you put into this, Muzza. Food for thought.
Bali paradise for retirees ❤
Thanks for this looking for something like this in 4 years. Will keep I touch with company.
Thank you for this video, I have emailed amandesa as I watch this. Arrive next month so forward to seeing this place.
Thank you so much for this video. Amandesa makes it look much easier for me to retire to Bali. The stress has been taken off me.
Fantastic VLOG Muzza .... I am seriously looking at my options for retirement in Bali and this has definitely given me another option to consider. On a seperate note .... will definitely be looking you up on our next trip to Bali .... I will bring the drinks mate! 🤣 .... Cheers 😎
Thanks mate great info
I’m in Kuta at the moment and will head over that way to have a look
Cheers
OMG....this is where i am going. Have a few years left but also may even retire early. Thanks, Muzza really enjoyed this one and can't wait to hear more about how to retire in Bali.
Fantastic idea Murray
Bloody amazing, Almost hoping to be retiring alone... Looks like you're living the dream Muzza
Great video as never knew this was available in Bali. Thanks Murray.
Fabulous - house looks great - brilliant vision on that. Retirement in Paradise for sure. Adore seeing your family with you
Thanks so much!
Love this ❤ thanks Muzza I’ve passed this onto my mum
Great video really interesting. Thanks Muzza. Back to Sanur in 4 weeks yippee 😊
I would love to retire in Sanur! Thank you for the great video!
Great video Muzz lots of food for thought
What a lovely place and a great idea. 😎
Fantastic videos, great information too. Look forward to your videos to come on retirement in Bali. We have stayed in Sanur often, also met Bloody Ron, is this the same Ron at Hidden Gardens?? Will be in Sanur in April, might checkout the place you showed. Thanks for the info Muz, much appreciated 👍
Great vlog Muzza (from someone who retired to Sanur in July 2021 😉) Never heard of that place called Amandesa. Interesting concept ☺️
That looks great Muzza, food for thought for an old digger like me. Almost 63 and not going to work again.
Thanks for the info Muzza, a really lovely concept for retirees. Amandesa have a very informative website too with details on pension, living costs and unit costs. Can you give some information on long term rentals or alternative ways of finding rentals or long term home stays please, that would be really beneficial. Thanks Michie😎
That's coming
Great information Muzza.
Fantastic blog, really interesting, I'm in Greece
That was quyite good Murray,thanks
Looks great Muzza wish I was 3 year's older 👍
It's very tempting. Our Balinese "family" would love us to build a villa in their village and look after us in our old age but this is a better option. However my husband gets his diabetic medication for free in Australia. Looking forward to meeting you Aug/September this year. 😅
Mate, Deb and I enjoyed our beer with you, thank you.
Great information Murray
Nice work Mate, cheers 🍻
Good advice. Fits my plans for 2025 so may need to bend your ear over a beer if you free when i visit to see my daughter in Oct 😅🍻
I'm almost 55 Muzza, own my house in QLD and of late i've been thinking about whats going to happen in 10 years and a bit when I can finally take the boots off. My wife and I are considering Bali as i'm beginning to think that our super just won't cut it here as prices are becomming unimaginable for retirees.
Option for us would be to sell our acreage property, buy a small townhouse to move into then look at the options of getting into a leasehold villa in Bali somewhere. We can leave Australia and continue to rent out the townhouse to help supplement our Bali retirement. Anyway, we are back in Bali in July to take a look around, catch up with my Baliness friends and ponder some more thoughts!
Looks beautiful just what I am looking for
$1000 sounds great by Australian prices, but it is wildly expensive by Asian standards. Until recently I lived in Thailand where there are many lovely condos under $10 per day. But the big problem is health insurance. Once you get over 75, health insurance becomes completely unaffordable. Sadly a number of my mates have come to a very sad end when they got sick. Unfortunately nobody talks about this.
Great information mate! Thankyou
No problem 👍
Thanks great information
it looks amazing
They're beautiful! That's what retirement should look like..... If only I didn't have 20 years until I can tap out lol. Sydney housing in general is ridiculous. Thanks for the vid
Hello Mr. Wilkinson, I learned a lot from you, thank you. I have several questions regarding the qualification of visa, but I will ask about 2 requirements only for now, please: Why a single person must hire 2 Indonesian to work for him/her, and, why must I be younger than 70 years old? Thank you.
Gread video Muzza welldone where is the link please mate
where did you get your shirt i want one i wil get my wife to bring me back when she comes home to perth keep the vids comming mate and thanks you for all the work you do for us we need a house update please.
I’m not very savvy with computers and technology, but can you send me the link because I can’t find it
Thanks Ian
P.S you are doing a great job
Thanks for another great vid 👍. I'm planning to retire to Bali, having lots of 'recon' trips over there in the meantime! Is there a minimum age for that place?
Hi Murray. I am a frequent Bali traveller and had a ID GF for 7 years but no longer. I am planning on retiring and have got stumped on visas. I have done my research and there seems to be confusion with the 'Retirement - Visa Kitap' and the Second Home Visa. There is confliction info on both and which one is current. I am more interested in whether the Second Home visa requires 2B IDR in an indo bank or an Aussie bank. How do the retirees planned for Amandesa get around this visa requirement. Talk soon and hope you can refer me to a contact of yours who would know this answer. Cheers mate Andrew
Hi, would love to know if retiring in bali what kinda visa to you need to have?
That look insane
What beach is that your standing on Murray what part of Bali do you live
Amandesa surely looked amazing. For me, i feel its a bit sad, as im not Australian.
They have non Aussie residents in there now also
Very helpful thanks. Great option that I'd never heard of. I wonder if they have minimum age expectations I'm 50 and my husband is 52. Only thing I'd want to know is the noise hearing plenty of tools on the go.
They we putting finishing touches when I filmed so there was some noises in the bqckfround

Are there Americans living over there?
What is the procedure for them, retiring in Bali?
Is it the same for Aussies (save for the nationality that is).
I am asking about the general steps and procedures, Muzza, not what would hinder Americans. I know you are not a Yank, but, surely someone there must know.
Mate I’m semi retired in Sanur and the place is amazing.
drop around for a bear any time
We met on aussie day I think
So Murray, I hear the Retirement Visa is very expensive. I am on a two month visa and have for 8 months. What does the retirement visa cost. I am a yank
Can we meet up when I come over. Applying for retirement Kita. And need advice. Already fallen into one trap but determined to retire there anyhow. Not interested in retirement village but somewhere in Sanur
Would love to retire thier
I have 2 dogs and 3 cats is it easy to bring them with you ?
How much to buy a mobility scooter in Bali
Does it have to be Australian? Otherwise how can I retire there? May I sign my name there?😊
I’m wondering if you would be allowed to have guests stay and whether there would be exit fees like a lot of retirement villages in Australia. This place looks absolutely gorgeous, pretty much my dream, but I’d need to no the fine details before going in. Hmm wonder if they plan to build more and need more carers, I’d be up for that. 😊 Would retirees still need to have $200,000 in an Indonesian bank account for five years as per the new 2nd home visa?
Watch for updates
Will do 😊
Bca and bni safe banks
No that visa has been scrapped
Hi…
how much super do we need to live comfortably in sanur? thanks🙏🙏🙏
That's a huge question.. depends on what you expect..
Muzza, can you look at renting property over there?
In our next video
I would require a screen over the open non-roof space in the bathroom because I don’t like spiders or snakes that could possibly get into the house.
Can I have contact to look at those retirement home
Indonesia need to legalize Marijuana, in bali. That would be just bliss...
Muzza from HOUSOS
That looks beautifull. Do they house australians only, or is it also possible for Europeans to rent an apartment there?
Yes, of course. Another good CZcams channel is The Bergs in Bali (also Australians). They go into great detail in one of their videos on how much it has cost them for a year in Bali. I love Bali however I don't like the wet season as it's too humid for me.😊
I may have given you the wrong info. I think from what Muzza said these rooms are for Australians only.
would they take in American retirees ? Appreciate your response. Thanks.
I'm sure they would ,why not, the man on chair in video sounds American
For this actual accommodation you need to be 67-70 and on an Australian pension. Check the actual website for eligibility.
Hi Murray, do they offer two bedroom.untis ?
No.. just double rooms
@@MurrayWilkinson1
Hi Muzza, thanks for prompt reply, wjen I come over later in the year, I shall let you know amd love to catch up for a cold one, my treat. ANDY
Can younger people live ther or only older for??
There are many visas for investors or non retirement but it is expensive generally
How about the medical facility in Bali
Some of the best medical in south east Asia
Just looking at this for the first time - I thought you can only stay for 3 months ?
watch my video on New Visa Regulations there are plenty of ways of staying here longer term
@@MurrayWilkinson1 I will thanks very much
I'm an Indonesian living in Java Island! Can I join the club? I also want to retire in Bali... But what should I do for the recent times?? I am 25 years old
What club? If you are Indonesian then get on a bus and move here.. no restrictions.. just remember not many jobs and not good pay
@@MurrayWilkinson1Ah I see! Thank you Sir! But, yeah.. maybe I'll figure out how to make the best of what I have now. Until then, I hope Bali is still good as it is in 50 years from now for the retirees
I am unable to find the link , is it me ?
It's in the video
Amandesa_enquiry@chl.org.au
U say Aussie.can.retire in Bali on.a pension
But to my knowledge centreline.wont pay.full.pension if u live overseas?
Interested to know what the rule is ? I think it has something to do with agreements between countries and Indonesia would have to be a participant ? Not sure.... keen to know.
Stay tuned
You loose a few minor benefits after 6 months, but you do keep most of your pension.
Wheres max and Bonnie
What about medicals ??....medicines ??? hospitals ...costs ???..after all we are talking about retirees ages ...no???
Thanks for info ...cheeerrsss..!!
This video is lovely.
Are there Americans there? I am one.
Harvey, the guy who lives there, sounds American however sometimes I mix up an American accent with a Canadian accent. New Zealanders don't
e to be mistaken
Sorry, New Zealanders don't like to be mistaken for Australians either. Similar but different.
@@heatherfruin5050 Even this American can tell an Oz accent from a NZ one!
@@heatherfruin5050 This American is understanding of accent misidentifies. Americans and Canadians can sound similar, except if we're from down South, back East, Los Angeles, or New Orleans, and etc. There are a lot of American accents, actually. New York City has SIX very distinct accents. I oughta know!
Hi Murray,I meant to ask you about private health cover.I suppose for retirees its critical.I mean we cant rely on a Go fund me page,in the case of accidents, and Balinese hospitals are not cheap.Let everyone know, thanks Murray.
One of the conditions for the bali retirement visa is, "compulsary" Indonesian heath insurance, amongst a heap of other conditions.
$1,000 AU is expensive for a month ... more like $500 AU is more like it
those villas are missing a bath. Couldnt live without a soak in the bath tub.
I was of the belief that you had to live in Australia for 6 months of the year on government pension
I think that has changed.. ill find out
No, definitely not. You do loose a few subsidies, but you keep most of your pension.
Your commentary on Bali is so condescending. Especially for a newcomer to Bali!
Your comments were even more offending.. piss off
Things have changed in Bali- the rent & food prices are outrageous and have tripled with WAY too many people/crime there now! Do NOT go there especially if you are Russian- STAY (TF) AWAY! Go to the Philippines - so CHEAP and beautiful!!!!
This guy say is cheap 😂😅 you have lucky you born in australia if you born in south america i laught kkkk when someone say is cheaper for locals pay the some than europa and dont have potavel water basic saneament kkkk
Its not paradise mate. Australia is paradise. How much rubish is on that beach your walking on? People only travel and retire in bali because its cheap. No other reason.
Bet thet are all gone march 2024 now
2many ukraine russia its done there ....get out while you can
How much commish you get tin bro???
Not a cent mate
