- I moved once again for what feels like the umpteenth time since living in Bali. This time I've left the Canggu bubble and settled into a big, beautiful new house in a residential/expat area.
Since day one of moving in, I've been redecorating and bringing the villa up to my taste level. One of the things that I love about this villa is that it's like a blank canvas for me to design and make my own.
I signed a year lease and the yearly price (around $10K USD) was reduced as market demand for these larger houses has decreased during the pandemic and the lack of people coming into Bali.

What I admire about you is your honesty and your self awareness.
You admit to hating a number of things that most people also detest but don’t admit to.
Your puppy will eventually settle, be calm and used to routine. Twelve weeks of age is so very young. Agree about ensuring Malibu learns to swim though.
Your villa is a really lovely, peaceful space.

Pools that a dog cant get out of can be a problem. They can jump in easy ! But for a little dog its hard for them to heave themselves out. And if no one sees them to get them out , they can tire from swimming & drown.

Gorgeous home and I love that you have all this space for just you and your pets. People think you just need one little room since it’s one person. Having more space does motivate you to be creative and feel like you can breath. It gives you space to decorate too and make the house your own. I loved it all.

I just love this video tour of your home and am a huge fan. Home aesthetics/ambience hugely impact my mood and I too am a nester/homebody type. If you love where you live, the affordability, relaxed lifestyle, don’t tell the world about it. *Gentrification is a real thing.
When I first arrived in Brooklyn, It was a very affordable ‘artists haven’ before a newspaper article made it a famous / cool place to live. Pittsburgh also used to be a very affordable place to rent or buy a home until the online reviews and articles began. And everyone started rushing in. This is why the locals are angry at foreigners coming in. Everyone is looking for bargain living. Gentrification causes the prices of EVERYTHING to go up, including food, affecting locals and other expats. The locals get pushed out of their homes and crime rates go up due to bitterness and economic hardship. If you love your affordable lifestyle -- Advice: keep it to yourself. There are so many other things to vlog/blog about.

Hi Adrien. Enjoyed your presentation. Go for the flowers man I've never really understood why there haven't been more in Bali. They seem to prefer the green foliage which is cool but when you can have the scent of jasmine wafting in the evening eh !!

new to your channel so happy to have found you .My partner and I have a lovely property in Jasri in the Amlapura area but we would like to spend more time in Sanur as it has more to offer like Yoga and good restaurants and hotels like the Hyatt for happy hour so we are on the lookout for a longterm rental in Sanur... would love something like you have found .. enjoy it !we are still unable to travel internationally but hopefully after Christmas when we can spend three months in Bali

Thanks for the comment! I think everything in Bali is generally negotiable. I don’t know how much the Banjar costs are but it’s pretty minimal

I just left Bali after 10 years due to covid. I was very happy with moving to Ubud. I suggest you rent a number of times, maybe in different locations. There can be unforseen drawbacks you find after living there. Until I learned I'd pay the higher " foreigner " prices for example. Later I'd have my housekeeper negotiate, get a better price and eventually pay her or buy her kids something. No real savings. One of my better gifts was a water heater for her kitchen and bathroom. Water comes from underground and is cold.

Everyone in Bali uses a motorbike to get around. I find my location very convenient for my lifestyle and activities.

is there an understanding that the yearly price will get renewed next year if you want to stay, or can the owner just raise the price/tell you to go away?
That is generally negotiated in the lease contract

I just watched the whole video. That is a great find (pet friendly, 3 bedroom, seems like a peaceful area). I am currently looking for a new place in Bali too (pet friendly) - which platform (Facebook, etc.) worked best for you in finding the place? And which area of Kerokaban, if you don't mind sharing, - I only know of the busy streets around the prison. I have been looking more in Umalas.
