- Eurasian Magpie calls and sounds in a British woodland. Eurasian magpies make a few different sounds, their most commonly heard call is a loud, harsh chattering “chak-chak-chak-chak....”. They also give shorter “ch-tak” calls and higher-pitched descending squealing sounds. Soft, warbling mechanical songs are also occasionally given by this species which can include mimicry.
The Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica) [also known as the Common Magpie or simply 'Magpie] is a member of the crow family and is a common bird throughout the United Kingdom, much of Europe and across the northern part of the Asian continent.
The Eurasian Magpie calls in this video spectrogram were recorded in Nunty's Wood, UK. More examples of wildlife sounds and bird calls can be found on my website wildambience.com/wildlife-sou...

Exactly the sound that I was hearing this morning right outside our bedroom window - the little bast**d woke us up 😆!

I hate their voices 😖
Same ahahahha and That’s the only reason why I’m here ahahah your comment killed me 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Me too, why I’m here….what a racket.
Same lol
Got a few of these little rascals living behind my house
Two of them were having an intense conversation about something or other 😅
Played this while a magpie was in my warehouse, the magpie then went mental
Blasting this through my car speakers always guaranteed to make their heads turn.
I heard someone say they sound like shaking a matchbox and now I think of that every time I hear them
Hunters used to lure them closer that way:)
Lol 😂 I think it sounds like a machine gun, but maybe that’s only the ones who’ve visited America 🤔
@@BrentWalker999used too? its still a well used method
@@whitetroutchannel I should have said, I used to:)
@@BrentWalker999 cant beat the matches 👍👍
Hear this sound every morning at 5am
They sound like they're cackling I love them
The sound of the Magpies always evokes memories of the English countryside. I love it!
so thats whos in my garden, I cannot see it because we planted so many trees. I was just laying in the bath watching Judge Judy and this sound got louder and louder to the point I switch off my computer. S/hes been around for a few weeks now.
The magpies I feed on the windowsill love this.
I’ve finally found what bird makes this noise outside my bedroom ❤
This is very friendly sound at the town in which I'm living😃 [From ROK🇰🇷]
😒
Just wish Australian magpies was as nice and friendly as the magpies in Europe "Sobs" :(
Holy shit the scientific name is Pica Pica.. that’s beautiful
I love this one very satisfying for some reason.
😒
Indeed, it's delightful, almost like ASMR. Though I suspect if the volume were too high, it'd be rather less delightful lol.

So i have observed both magpies and crows outside my balcony so i didnt know the difference and i came here to distinct them by sound. Amazing birds
wakes me up exactly 6:00am every day. I've had it, imma kill this bust**d 😂
THERES MAGPIES IN A TREE WHERE I LIVE AND THEY ARE FREAKING OUT RN
Ever since I put spare bird seeds out for special birds I never seen in my garden. This magpie is now my natural alarm clock at 5am all the way down to 10am
as close as you can come to a velociraptor. Super duper smart.
You should hear the Australian magpie calls. Like something out of Starwars
My cat really liked this audio 😅
There are two fledgling magpies and one keeps trying to get into the window bird feeder for the finches. Twice they’ve pecked at my window but still haven’t figured out how to get into the feeder. Hoping that I can build enough trust so they can.
Nice magpie sounds
Good grief it sounds like a machine gun 😳 Nothing like the liquid warble of an Australian magpie
this is awesome.
I hear them every day in front of my house
They’re annoying little rascals and make the one of the most ugliest sounds
In Bulgaria they are always singing songs
Magpie is always doing it
If i can't find my cat, I use this lol
Sounds like a rattle and a car that won't start had a baby.
There are a lot of magpies here in Amsterdam, they are very smart looking birds (like they are wearing a tuxedo with shimmering paint) and I respect them for their high intelligence...
But when they make this sound outside my window when I'm having a late sleep I feel like strangling them. They keep it up for hours on end. 😔
I love magpies
까치!
So lucky we have this bird in Sweden, too 🥹
LOVE this MOFO! ❤️
Bournemouth fans singing this 😂😂😂😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
Clever girl
I’m here trying to figure out why Beatrix Potter has Dr. Maggotty say “Gammon? Ha, ha!” in a favorite story of my son’s…it’s so funny but I don’t get the joke!!
feather family
Welcome to Yonder..
This is great and everything but the vid just doesn't do the magpie's vocal range justice. They make loads of other clicks and pops and whistles also
Animali preziosi
❤️
This is one angry magpie, the one I feed uses this call to say the cat to GTFO

(It's an inside joke)
lol bet you wish you had australian magpies. they sound so much better than this
No. Because Australian magpies are vicious. And will physically attack you by divebombing you. I still to ours thanks
Last thing the local magpies hear as this lures them in for a pellet to the head.
Deserving fate for all of these obnoxiously loud creatures
yep, annoying as hell to wake up to at 5am
❤
