Age 55 I bought a bike last year. I was never an outside sort of person but now I can't stay indoors! Going out on my bike has changed my life, the smells, the sounds, the landscapes, what an absolute joy
Great, I did the same at 48, 4 years ago
❤
British Birds are beautiful, early morning in the garden Coffee in hand and Bird Song....Heaven🐦
Yes, an ideal start to the day!
Yeah, until it starts pouring down and all the birds disappear to find cover LOL but yeah, I get your meaning. Sometimes my birdfeeder gets completely washed out in a day and the valuable nutrients go into the ground. I need to find a solution to that cause the birds refuse to eat from the one which is sheltered...😕
This is a huge part of what CZcams should be for. Perfect video.
Thank you for your kind comment, glad you you enjoyed the video.
Best thing about the UK are the garden birds. Natures absolute gift, imo. Nothing beats the sound they make and their fluffy cuteness ❤
What is more lovely than listening to songs birds early in the morning and in the evening!
Couldn't agree more!
If only the jackdaws didn't start before 4 am!

@@alanj9391 that would be the blackbird. :D Blackbirds often start their morning chatter around 3m in late spring/summer and among all sounds is the only one that wakes me up without enraging me, lol. ( bird songs in general)
One year at my Mother's old house years ago, she went to water a hanging-basket over the front door, saw a nest in there with eggs so decided to leave it. They hatched, (it was a Spotted Fly-Catcher and we could see the babies from the step) and we were fortunate enough to see one of them take it's first flight. It only went a couple of yards before landing, but we were really excited by this. Soon after, they all moved out. It was cool.
Ah Wrens! So that's the name of the tiny birds I hear all the time. Since I moved I've always heard wrens in the morning. There's 2 big trees near my house covered in a small flock of these little dude's.
Would always hear wood pigeons and collared doves in the morning at my old house. As well as the occasional jackdaw and a variety of smaller birds. (Wrens, robins, house sparrows, etc).
And would always hear a Great Tit in the morning, when staying round my Nan's. Hearing it now brings back memories, it's sort of a painful happy feeling.
House sparrows and robins (I'd hear robins especially often in small forests) I'd hear everywhere. As well as blackbirds.
As well as occasional magpie parties half way through the day, a little gang of the cheeky guys was bullying a squirrel one time, opened my door super loud and they scattered and left it alone.
I used to live in England for 15years…. This bird singing brings me back to those time :) spectacular xxx
It always surprises me just how much you can hear if you stop and listen for a moment. Even from my bedroom now, I can hear about 20 odd birds
It is amazing how loud bird song can be from something so small
Never ceases to amaze me too. Its all to do with the birds syrinx, located at the base of a bird's trachea, which is surrounded by an air sac. The two work together to produce and amplify the bird's song.
This is quite spectacular! What an incredible amount of work went into this video to capture the fabulous pictures and the superb sound. We have had most of these birds in our garden but, as we live in London, I can't usually recognise their calls. Thank you so much. One to keep and refer to. It is also lovely to see their markings at close range.
Thank you very much for your kind comment. Glad the video was helpful and thank you for watching.
@@MyBirdingYear ok, birds of a feather flock together... Following your channel.... Keep the good work!!! England has really beautiful birds...👍🇧🇷🇫🇴💯 I feed birds in my back yard too,. nice to see them near...And when they fly is really fantastic...
@@MyBirdingYear 2:20 l thought that was a wood pigeon? Do you have a wood pigeon?
The photographic quality of this video is _beyond belief_ !
Thank you for your kind comment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
Thankuforgiven us nice video ofbeautifulbirds
Such a simple and effective video...not loud and person led, just the bird speaking for themselves. Often, simple and quiet it best.
Thank you for bringing us this.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Thank you for a clear set of pictures, including the birds’ calls was really helpful!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
lol what humans mostly hear are the birds' alarm calls!
@@franl155 If its going EEEEErrrrrKKK! EEEEErrrrrKKK! Dive, Dive, Dive its either a submarine or a Gannet acting the drama queen.
Wow this brings back beautiful memories of watching the birds in my garden from the window when I was a little kid. ♥️
Nice memory,❤
Thankyou
I get a lot of these little beautys in my garden.
That's good to hear. Thank you for watching!
Probably the best video I've ever seen on our wonderful common garden birds. The clarity of the film and sound just took me to another place - many thanks!!
Wow! 😍💕💕Stunningly beautiful video, so clear! Thank you for sharing! 😊
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Ah, cool idea for a video! Showing common species in different contexts with their songs, so that novice birders can identify them. And you did male and female birds as well. This is such a good idea it deserves to be a success. We can at least say the commenters liked it. Good execution of a good idea!
Thank you! I hope people find it helpful. It was certainly enjoyable to make, going back through the footage to find the best clips.
@&d&24 [
This just randomly appeared as a suggestion to watch not something I would look for but surprisingly I found to be very interesting, informative, and very relaxing. Thank you great footage and descriptions.
That's so nice to hear. Thank you for your kind comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
@@MyBirdingYear That’s exactly what happened to me. So I subscribed. Better than all the serious stuff pushed my way. Thanks
I stumbled across this and seeing as I'm a newbie to birdwatching it was a great help, thank you.
Thanks for this just cleared up some mix up with male and female wrens
When i saw the magpie i waved ❤️
I can't think of another bird in the UK think that is more associated with superstition as the magpie is. I always greet them when I see one (seeing two is better though!)
Aahhh our feathered friends such a joy to watch this video
wish we had the warm sunny weather to have hummingbirds visit the UK
Thank you 👏👏👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🌺🌸🌼
Yes, hummingbirds would be amazing to see in the UK! Thanks for watching!
Nothing like a magpie to ruin my relaxing morning in the garden listening to sweet bird song 😅
Lovely! As a newcomer to the UK, I'm trying to learn to identity the visitors to our garden. Id like to start feeding birds too to attract more of them.
Glad the video was helpful. It does depend where you are in the UK but these are most of the more common garden visitors. Thanks for watching!
@@MyBirdingYear we're in Carlisle, Cumbria. I've started identifying several birds now and aim to get that bird feeder up soon ☺️
Welcome to the UK Anne! I hope you enjoy the birds here 😌❤️
My vision's not the best, so all I usually see are flying bullets whizzing past. This vid helps a lot, thank you
You're very welcome and thank you for watching!
Brilliant video, there’s nothing better than sitting in the garden listening to the birds singing 👍🏼
Couldn't agree more! Thank you for watching.
I love the sound of bird song , so beautiful especially male black bird ,calms me. best sound to my ears .bird spoting is addictive .🐦🐦 Thank you 😊
Yes, the blackbird's song is beautiful, especially at dusk when it's usually singing on it's own. Thanks for watching!
ever since I was a young lad I have loved watching the birds flying and their callings. now I'm in my 60s I tend to the garden feed and put water out for the birds and then watch them swoop down onto the grass and listen to them calling their friends. I find them and all Gods creatures fascinating
Same here sadly their getting scarce in my area more houses and concrete
Came here to identify a Dunnock that's been visiting my bird table great video, thanks!
Glad it was helpful and thanks for watching!
Superb quality footage of these birds!
Many thanks, glad you enjoyed the video!
definately a 'keeper', very useful and covers most of what we see frequently. Thank you
Glad it was helpful and thank you for watching.
Best looking two legged birds I've seen this year. Good job.
Glad you enjoyed it!
One of my favorite things to do when lucky enough to jump the pond is to walk in the woodlands and open lands of Ireland and the UK. I especially enjoy seeing the wee robins that seem so curious and friendly. A lovely land it is. Thank you for sharing a bit of it with us.
It is indeed! Thank you for watching and leaving such a great comment.
Thank you. Collared doves are so adorable. Love them!
Yes, I think so too. Glad you enjoyed the video.
The most clear and simple identification film of birdsong that I have seen. It's excellent. Thank you.🐦🐦🐦
Thank you for your kind comment, it's much appreciated. Glad you enjoyed the video.
The Goldfinch is so Regal, beautiful bird..!!
Wonderful! Just what I was looking for in order to learn more about our feathered friends. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video. Bird songs fill me with happiness and a sense of calmness. Thank you for making this ❤
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching!
I absolutely love this, i saw a gold finch the other day , such a pretty bird
Glad you enjoyed the video. Goldfinches are one of my favourites, a very beautiful bird.
A certain Flight Lieutenant Colin "The Forger" Blythe would certainly approve, as do I thanks to my Grandad Bill Neale RAF, an old "Birder" from Notts County. It's nice to find someone keeping the old ways going when nobody else knows or cares for them.
I love the birds...
Amazing video...
Thank you for sharing !
Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
This channel deserves more subscribers
That's very kind of you to say so and thanks for watching
I have seen about 85% of these from my bedroom window alone- thanks to my grandma I now have a keen eye for spotting and identify different birds.
my cat loved this video so I gave it a thumbs up for him. thanks
I love hearing all the birdies sing in our tree in the garden and on my walks! They're all so beautiful 🙏💕💕💕
That's very true!
I've always loved watching the birds visit the garden, but appreciate them now more than ever... thanks for this brilliant video that furthers my knowledge and enjoyment 👍👏
I know what you mean, over the last year the simple things like birds visiting the garden have been such a welcome distraction and I also appreciate them more than ever. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
The Goldfinch is gorgeous
Yes, it's always great to see one. A very pretty bird.
Wow... I was just thinking about wanting to identify bird songs last night, and then this pops up in my notifications! 😍 Lots of songs there, thanks for taking the time to do all of this! 😀👍
You're welcome, glad you found the video helpful and thanks for watching!
Fabulous video for bird lovers! Really helpful for so many people who are not very experienced at identification either by looks or sounds. Great for educating children too. Thanks for posting! Keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. Thanks for watching!
Those last two remind me of my childhood home in the countryside so much.
Glad you enjoyed the video , thank you for watching.
Love to hear the blackbirds, robins and dunnock singing at nesting time.
Three of my favourites too, beautiful songs!
Just a great video for the amateur bird spotter. Thanks.
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching.
All of these birds are beautiful, whether it be their gorgeous serenades, their round, fluffy cuteness, their incredible intelligence, or their intriguingly intricate patterns.
My personal favourites in this video include:
Robin, Blackbird, Blue Tit, Wren, Long-tailed Tit, Pied Wagtail, House Sparrow, Magpie, and Collared Dove;
But all birds shown here, there and everywhere on the internet, on photos, or spotted in real life are equally amazing in their own ways.
That very true. Their behaviour is fascinating and you're never quite sure what you'll see next. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
Terrific way to start a cold April day, just back from walk at 07:30. Lovely clear footage. Thanks!.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching!
Very helpful... Have most of these beautys visit my bird table everyday...even have 2 great spotted woodpeckers!!! As well as several parakeets... Just wonderful.
Sounds great! I'm too far west for parakeets but would love to have one visit, great spotted woodpeckers too. Thanks for watching!
I love watching the birds
What a beautifully made and presented film. Can see how much work went into it. Well done. So useful for new spotters and a real joy to watch.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
Thanks for this video, should be compulsory for it to be shown in schools as most adults I know can't identify even a sparrow.
The birdsong is very useful too, glad to have found your channel & have subscribed.
IMHO Very nice, quality pictures and sound. Painstaking work, dozens of hours work condensed into 5 minutes.
I will use it as an aid to educate my grandchildren (and their mother) about our British birds and their song. Thank you.
I am glad you enjoyed the video and hope your family enjoy it too. Thanks for visiting and leaving such a nice comment.
Enjoyed your video. I live in Canada 🇨🇦 and don't have most of these species. It was fun to see these birds in your area.
Glad you enjoyed the video. By coincidence I was watching a video about birds in Canada the other day - loved the Northern Cardinal and Downy Woodpecker in particular and didn't know you had house sparrows too!
I have been getting into birds this past year and have a few feeders in my garden. Showing the male and females has helped me immensely. A very good video, Thanks 🐦
Glad you found it helpful and thanks for watching.
Thankyou for helping me identify some of the bird calls from our garden, there really is no better music than birdsong 😊
Very true! Glad you found the video helpful and thanks for watching.
They all look well fed... thanks!
Thank you for watching !
Many thanks for creating and posting, wonderful
You're very welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic. Great collection of clips!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
What a lovely watch. This has prompted me to be more interested in the birds that visit my garden. Thanks.
That's wonderful to hear. Thanks for watching and have a great weekend!
Lovely to watch the birds and listen to them. Very relaxing -and wonderful footage; thanks for sharing.👍
Glad you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching!
Nothing more beautiful than birdsong..standing outside about 5am on a nightshift having a cigarette 3 wks ago and listening to all the different songs..just bliss and fascinating.
I love finishing a night shift just before dawn and listening to the birdsong. Simple pleasure and all that.
@@goodyeoman4534 Its lovely..I usually finish at 7 but always have a ciggie at 5am..the hospital I work is near the countryside so you hear all different kinds..gonna listen n see if I can identify after watching this vid☺
@@utopia5534 I work in an ambulance control room and also finish at 7am. The noisiest ones I hear are blackbirds. But I've identified robins and others. Chaffinches and greenfinches hang about too.

2:29 Oh my gosh! The red admiral too!! This video is excellent :)
Thank you! I was very lucky to have the Red Admiral fly into the scene :)
@@MyBirdingYear It’s the most beautiful footage!
I think it's been a couple years since we had any green finches in the garden, but thoroughly enjoy seeing all the others.
Hope they come back soon and glad you enjoyed the video
Beautifully filmed. Thanks a million for the names as well. They're the same birds seen in Ireland! Fantastic sound as well.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video.

Thanks for posting, I really enjoyed that 😊
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching!
Absolutely beautiful video.
As an Englishman in Japan, this is a refreshing breath of Blighty 💙
Many, many thanks and subscribed 🙏
I heard a song outside my window this morning, it sounded beautiful and I actually began listening to the different bird calls, it’s easy to dismiss but they are so wonderful! Il be making an effort not only to listen to them from now on but to actively distinguish each bird call, the beauty of nature is right next to us if we only look 👀 ❤
The dawn chorus is d loveliest sound in d morning 🌄
This is perfect for a complete novice. I set out to find out what the most common song I can hear is. Turns out it is wrens 😊.
We get lots of parakeets too but everyone knows what they sound like around here. Noisy buggers!
Glad you found it helpful and great that you've hear wrens frequently - such a beautiful song. Don't have many parakeets where I am but I've got a group of juvenile magpies who visit the garden regularly - I would apply your description of parakeets equally to them 😊
This is some of the best footage and sound recording of our native UK garden birds that I've seen anywhere, not just on CZcams, congratulations! A brilliant concise run through of everything I see in my own garden (except noisy parrots swapped for your greenfinches!) in West London, and all perfectly captured and edited. I had to replay it all over again with the sound turned up. A very professional job, the BBC would be proud!
Thank you for your kind comment, it's much appreciated. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching. Hope you have a great weekend!
Yes well done and very educational
2:30 This video is so good that a Red Admiral wanted some screen time too! 😃
😃 I think the Red Admiral was wise to fly off again when it did though!
Oh god I forgot about that! 😳
Beautiful bird songs which I'm lucky enough to hear every day living in the country side.😍🐦
What kind of birds do you get? I live in an urban area, so only get sparrows, starlings, doves, wood pigeons and the occasional jackdaw.
Lucky you, I would like to move to countryside
Wow, quite a variety of birds, some familiar but many new to me, since i live in Southern California, a world away. Well done video. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching.
Very rare to see a video showing both the male and the female birds. SUPERB photography too. Thank you!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching!
Collard dove, the sound of my childhood in Hove East Sussex by Hove Park at my Nonna and Nonno’s house.
So nostalgic.
If I lay in bed on a hot day and close my eyes I can be taken right back to a little bedroom there.
Some nice moments.
Hey, the actual footage/camerawork is incredible. Especially for a channel your size - this is professional level of quality.
Thanks for the video.
Thank you so much, that's such a nice comment. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching.
How lovely to be entertained by your wonderful & amazing footage of different species of birds and their beautiful songs. Thank you so much. I hasten to add I was pleasantly surprised to note there wasn't a running commentary throughout your video, which can so often be a distraction - instead you named the birds in writing at the foot of the page. I'm going to share your video with my uni grandson who is interested in our feathered friends as his main hobby and has taken many photos & videos. I have just subscribed to your channel.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video and hope your grandson does too. Thank you for subscribing, it's much appreciated.
That was great - thanks. I recognised most of them as visitors to my own garden but not all. Very helpful. all the best.
Thank you. Glad you found the video helpful and thanks for watching.
Thank you.
What a terrific job you've done with this video.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching.
Just found your CZcams! This is absolutely wonderful!! I am in the US in Tn. We have beautiful birds here but I have not seen some of these!! Thanks
Glad you enjoyed the video. One of my 'to do's is to visit the US and, in particular, to see a northern cardinal - a wonderful looking bird! Welcome to the channel and thanks for watching!
What a superb video! Clear, informative & so beautiful to watch. I've learnt so much.....
Glad it was helpful and thank you for watching.
Thank you so much, I always hear their sounds but I don't see them, they are so beautiful
Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching
God blesses us with these beautiful creatures. Thank you so much for your wonderful video. We have lots of house sparrows in our garden, and these great little characters will never be taken foregranted.
At the age of 53 I've suddenly started paying attention to birdsong when I'm out walking. Perhaps it's a sign of getting old 😂
Is it a language? An announcement of identity and intent? Who's saying what to whom? It's becoming of great interest to the nerd in me 🤓
This video is going to be an invaluable little tool for me this summer, thank you for making and sharing 🤩
Lots of interesting questions there :) I was watching a video by BioBush about his predictions for 2070 and he suggests we will understand by then what birds are saying in their songs. He also predicts that in birds like parrots and ravens we will discover language and that through computer translation we may be able to communicate in their language. All quite mind blowing! In the meantime, good luck with your own endeavours and glad you found the video helpful.
@@MyBirdingYear One of the craziest things is that birds evolved from dinosaurs. They're so "highly" evolved, yet their form of communication seems so different to ours.
Thanks again 🤩👍
Very good shots with the voices of birds!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching.
This is wonderful.. thankyou.. I'm able to now work out which birds I'm hearing in our garden.

Just lovely- great clear shots thank you for sharing- my favourite bird is the Robin
Glad you enjoyed it. Robins are definitely one of my favourites too
Common house sparrows are my absolute favourite bird in the whole entire earth. I want to hug them so tight and kiss them
Where I live the upstairs neighbour has a nest of common house sparrows they come to our garden all the time. They get very annoying.
