- This video presents you the black-billed magpie call. We recorded this black-billed magpie singing during an afternoon. The black-billed magpie sounds
overall resemble slightly to that of a mix of crow and a yellow-billed cuckoo but the voice of black-billed magpie is much more melodious. Yes, graned that this bird does not sound as good as some of the other birds posted in this channel, in fact, many call its chirping as black-billed magpie noise.
I personally do not this it should be considered as noise as the sound of the black-billed magpie is still strangely relaxing. I think the black-billed magpie call is a beautiful sound.

If there is one thing that I like about them, it's hearing the young ones beg for food! It's the most adorable sound that I have ever heard in my life! My magpie friends in my dreams screech nonstop when they want food, when they play together, or when they haven't seen me in a long time! They can be a little annoying about it, but I don't mind the noise at all!
The little one's indeed are adorable. Good story.
Nature Beats Thanks! I wrote a whole story about them! It's 16 pages long and it has about 7000 and something words! It's mostly about my first magpie friend that I made. Her name is Essie! She's smart, intelligent, curious, adventurous, and hilarious! She sticks by my side! She loves to dance, play games like hide-and-seek, (that's her most favorite one), and she enjoys playing with me and her three sisters and having a lot of fun! She's super cute, adorable, and sweet! I don't think that there's anybody else like her in my imagination! She screeches pretty loud, too! Out of her three sisters, she's the loudest baby! She's also a pretty fast flyer! She is skittish and feisty when she gets a surpise or when she can't wait for something awesome to happen! Little friends can be great friends! Nothing as is as cute as little Essie! I have one wish: I wish that she was real! We would have a blast!
Wow you really do love these little birds. Maybe get yourself one if you can take care of them.
Nature Beats I wish that I could! I'm pretty sure that I already know how to take care of them! According to my story, Essie's probably the easiest one to take care of! I hate babysitting her and sometimes she doesn't listen to what I say to her! If I tell her no, she stops what she isn't supposed to be doing and she has this guilty look on her face. That's how you know that she's been caught by me doing something that she wasn't supposed to be doing! She's never bitten me and she doesn't fight me! She's been a little bit aggressive and mean a few times too with the rest of her family members. Once, she went crazy and she bit her mom and she was angry because she wanted me to feed her and her mom was trying to feed her. That was a tghgh day! Another time, one of her sisters was eating and she came up to eat and she snapped her beak at her sister to try and get her turn to eat! Luckily, her sister was quick to move out of the way and she wasn't hurt! That was another tough day! It's illegal up here in Anchorage, Alaska to keep magpies anyway! But maybe my mom will make an exception with a baby one! I would definitely rescue it and feed it when there were no parents or adults around to take care of it! Essie mostly sticks by my side, perching on my shoulder or on my fingers! She even knows how to step up onto my hand! Being bottle-fed is her most favorite thing! She likes being hand-fed too, but she mostly prefers bottle-feeding! Overall, she is one of the best friends that I could ever have in my imagination! It's very vivid, and I tend to clearly hear Essie and her three sisters screeching or begging for food when I am asleep or when it is very quiet! Sadly, she is just a figment of my imagination and she's only in my imaginary dreamland! Let me know if you want to hear some more interesting facts about Essie, her three sisters, or her mom! I'd be super glad to tell you the whole story!
@@naturebeats2902 Hey, I have a great idea! What if I sent you the story in an email? That way, you could read the whole thing and you could let me know what you thought about it! I'd love to hear what you have to say! All that I would need was your email address. All that I have to do is type it in, and it should go right through to you if I type it in the right way!
I love them. Their call makes me feel very nostalgic. This sound is the backyard of my childhood, just throw in a handful of black-capped chickadees singing in the scrub oak trees nearby, and it's perfect.
Glad you like it :)
I love corvid birds; ravens, crows, magpies, all of them. I managed to get a magpie to eat an inch away from me to my right side on first try, the trick is to not look at them, or you can simply close your eyes. They're very cautious but will trust you once you let em know that you're not a threat and you'll be able to walk a feet away without spooking them(but they're still very cautious which is good). It's amazing that they can recognize you from far away; now some will fly up to me whenever I step outside to greet me, they know how to feed themselves but I still help out during fall - winter
Amazingly put together 👍
I once had a magpie try to hide under me because there was a raven after him. I thought he was hurt and he actually let me pick him up to be brought to the wildlife vet. Turned out he was totally fine and he was released back to his mate the next day and they now live behind walmart. Must've been raised in a rescue, people fed, or a really good judge of character.
@@pilsnerd420 that’s amazing! Glad he was fine!
I killed one without a second guess.
It is weird how American magpies look almost identical to European magpies but they make very different sounds.
Yes they do, the difference is even bigger in female counterparts
The American ones sound a hundred times less annoying I feel.
I read somewhere that bird songs can have like location differences (like a dialect) and that they change sometimes, where a different call or change in the call will be taken up or migrate from/to places. Sorry I don't have a link but it was neat to read! (It wasn't just magpies but birds in general.)
American magpies are so different to Aussie magpies. Do American magpies swoop on people during nesting season??
I'll have to do some research to find out.
I grew up in rural Wyoming and this sound is a staple of the prairie. Such a smart, opportunistic bird but also a total bully. It was always a battle for dominance between the magpies, doves and crows.
I get woke up every morning with there calls,I just love how they look. The striking blue threw the black and white is beautiful
I'm from Norway and they're common here. Smart creatures.
They sound a little bit different.
Magpies (at least the ones outside my window) can have some really cute sounds aside from the warning calls and/or play/fighting between themselves, almost like cooing and also some chirping.
Either they have sounds of "affection" or they make weird sounds when dreaming. Haven't tried to get close up when they make these sounds and it can be hard to see through brushes where they go to rest.
Thanks for sharing, I hope you tape some of the sounds some day from your window ☺️
@@naturebeats2902 Autralian magpie is quite different! czcams.com/video/oYEYc8Ge3nw/video.html
It's actually believed Corvids actually have their own regional "languages" which might explain why yours sound different.
@@Sergei_Ivanovich_Mosin No they do the chirping everywhere. It has something to do with socializing and mating i guess. It is very rich, talkative and sweet and chirpy. It is hard to spot them when they do this. But it is a blessing if you hear it once. Everything else is gone for that moment and you listen to this story from another world and cherish the force of life! It is even goofy in a way....
I love them ... I put food out for them..and every morning like clockwork, 630 am -730 am, they come to say "Got more food for Us "....My cat loves to hear them too...I taught Lucky, No touching
That's awesome and yes don't try to touch them lol
This reminds me of home. I love magpies so so much.
There were a bunch of them calling out in the woods near my house so I went out and played this near them and about 6-8 of them landed near the branches around me and called back
Wow did they attack or just chill around you?
@@naturebeats2902 They just chilled on the branches around me calling out to each other
this makes me miss utah alot. .. i used to live there and they had lots of magpie
Utah i heard is heaven for many of these birds.
@@naturebeats2902 @Anu Domingo my wife and I moved to the Uintah Basin and the Magpies are just starting to come around to our feeders :)
Yes! This sound is my northern Utah backyard from my childhood. I love them!
Idaho too. Lived in both, and I love watching them hop around. XD
@@warriormaiden9829 I ended a lot of them here
Sat in my garden watching 4 of them eating at my birdfeeder, decided I should try and speak to them haha
Haha I'm on my door step doing the same
I am in central MN. I just saw one for the first time and heard it squawk like in this recording. Definitely a lot louder than the surrounding wildlife.
Magpies sound like they are laughing in a cackling sort of fashion. Makes them sound eerie yet cool
This sound brought my dog instant rage. Lol
very beautiful bird, especially the voice is really suitable for masters
This is what I here out my window all day
Lucky you
me too it’s so annoying
So lucky
how do you get it to stop😭
Whenever he wants to stop 😆
They Sound exactly like the ones here in Edmonton Alberta
Same in Calgary AB. I hate these birds lol, makes my ears hurt.
Yeg gang
IN CEYLON THEY WHISTLE VERY BEAUTIFULLY. ESPECIALLY EARLY IN THE MORNING.
Thanks, helped me catch a couple.
This is not singing to me : they really can sing - they make cute noises like Dolphins !
I have way too many of these, so I blasted this on a speaker, and they actually came flying in and called back!!!
Edit: I missed them all😢
They sound nothing like the magpies in ireland. Wow
This makes my dog go crazy
😆😆😆
My cat loved it too, she's confused where her prey is at!
i think this is it, i got this bird that likes to sit in my back garden making a very similar noise (less high pitched and quicker) looks almost identical to this bird, so bloody annoying its sooo loud and it loves to sit right outside my window and make that noise lol
I have a no danger relationship with a few pairs and few gangs of juveniles (no warning call just a short one shot cackle at most)....but i only get the squeaky sweet sound from a old male who feeds from my window.
I grew up hunting corvidea before I started advocated for them, I would mirror call crows to get their attention, then I would call as soon as they called, then just go silent so they would come to investigate, bringing them close enough to "hunt".....I will never for get the different bird calls I have learnt and now I just use my experience as party tricks or examples of explanation.
Corvidea are amazing and I hope we continue to build a working and cohabitatable relationship 🙏 😃
Corvidea are already being trained to pick up rubbish in exchange for food, they can be very help in how we resolve alot of our environment issues.
I love the black magpie, it 's very rugged in the winters and very sweet to other's magpie. i live in an city in Canada , the winter is very stronger and, they're support in the lonely winter
Can't agree more
This actually kinda works!!!
All praises to God, who created such wonderful birds
Beshak

My favorite feather baby.
Great video! Nice picture and sound 👍
I'm glad you like it :)
Good
Arround April feed them these birds hatch
it sounds like the danish one😁
What about hissing but not in a "get away from me" way I have a magpie I consider him a friend he knows I have bread so he finds me and makes this hissing sound to sigal to me that he wants bread I give it to him. Sometimes i can stand close but sometimes hes suspicious then I walk away like 30 meters or so. I just wanna know what this his sound means i only ever hear it from him. He never makes another sound I dont think. But other magpies just sounds like well ordinary nagpies and they shy away as soon as they see me. But hes usually more close by hes also curious and kind of special he behaves in a way that i havent seen other magpies do.
Beautifully written
Black-billed again
I tried playing this to a magpie who often hangs around my work waiting for food, he had absolutely zero reaction to it, I think he kinda knew it was an "artificial" call and there was no magpie magically trapped in my phone.
I played this in my backyard saying birds come get your friend and magpies attacked me
Lmao you knew the consequences 😆
I'm doing the same.
I ran inside till they could get me
Can anyone confirm this sound is the same of the kid's one in vivarium?
That's cause the director took Magpie calls for the sounds the kid in Vivarium does.
blackpilled magpie call
blackpilled magpie call
Yes and?😆
Beatiful birds but watching them attack and kill small birds at my feeders gets old.
I swear. That's the bad part.
Woah. Your magpies are a bit more aggressive than usual
@Dave Osmond Wow! Well, that's something else!
Why do they fly away when they hear another one? Is it because they're afraid of getting attacked?
There's one that likes to sit outside my window and make strange frog noises sometimes.
😂

Do we see this type of bird in Malaysia?
Not sure but they're found in many countries.
No, they don't occur natively in Malaysia or Singapore. Pica magpies (black and white magpies) are birds of temperate climates, and don't thrive in the tropics. They are also birds of open habitats with a few scattered trees for roosting and nesting, and as a result, have benefited greatly from forest reduction or destruction and other habitat alteration by Humans. Outside of urban and some agricultural areas, most of Malaysia is still densely forested, and Pica magpies don't thrive in dense forests.
Malaysia's Magpie Robin (Copsychus saularis) is similar in color, pattern, and shape, but it is much smaller than the Pica magpies, and habitually raises its' tail when perched. Unlike Pica Magpies, which are generalist omnivores that are both scavengers on carrion, and very active predators for their size, Magpie Robins feed on insects, spiders, and small fruits and berries. They are considerably better singers (to Human ears) than Pica Magpies, to which they are not closely related. The Magpie Robin is the National Bird of Bangladesh.
The magpie that occurs in Malaysia is the Green Magpie (Cissa chinensis) a very predatory and very beautiful forest bird that is trained by different aboriginal peoples to catch and bring back other birds, small mammals, lizards, frogs, and large insects such as cicadas for Human consumption. Green and Pica Magpies are members of the Crow family (Corvidae), while Magpie Robins are Old World Flycatchers (Musicapidae), and are cousins of the Shamas of South and SE Asia.
Kind of reminds me of the Minecraft shulkers.
😆😆
@@naturebeats2902 Do you hear it too?
Does anyone know what this sound means?
That's not singing. That's an alert/warning call, such as they might make when seeing a prowling cat or a snake. The fascinating thing about those calls is that they are very similar across a wide variety of songbird species. For a better idea of what a black-billed magpie sounds like when it's not panicked, watch czcams.com/video/hxovFbvolkI/video.html
Thank you for the insight. I'll fix the title then.
Y'all crazy.... These birds have the most heinous, screeching, annoying asf call ever. Don't know why they are protected. They're basically an invasive species.
I grew up in Alberta, Canada in the 90s. Heard this reep reep crap almost every day, they were the most annoying birds to my parents cause they would always pick around in the garbage cans during garbage day lol.
My family is having a war with them lmao
Planes takeing of ????
Very appreciated this matting call has allowed me to achieve 5 kills in one day
Not sure how to feel about it
Glad to know it works, happy hunting
The wind up bird?
I hate this sound! I hear them out of my window everyday and it drives me nuts
I play this in the UK, it brings the magpies right in. It's the last thing they hear before getting a pellet in the head.
Not the intent of the video.
@@naturebeats2902 well, it's what I use to bring them in.
bruh

This is not beauty for a magpie I did it with a baby magpie and it was terrified like legit shaking
I love to hunt them
This helped a lot i got 10 of em with my bb gun
Why?
Plus it's shaved you money on a Maggie whistle
Guys guys, that's not the purpose of this video. It saddens me that my video is helping people kill this beautiful bird.
These birds murder hatchling of other song birds. They eat the eggs and will eat young freshly hatched birds. They will eat over 50 duck eggs in the spring. Per magpie; think about that, they are decimating bird populations because they are very smart , cunning and adaptable birds. But they are not good when their numbers are high and go unchecked. Save dozens of other birds by killing each magpie that you can!
But isn't that the cycle of life? Predators get the preys. I don't think we should still interven to the point where each guy is killing 10 of them at a time as the fellow above claimed.
I use this to draw them in then I shoot them
😔😔
I wouldn't mind if they made this noise. All I hear is that disgusting clacking noise from 4:30am - 9ish. They've bullied all the rest of the birds out of my area, so that is literally all I hear now. Annoying evil creatures.
iv just got a magpie start visiting my garden. They raid my dogs feeding bowl after hes finished Any tips on how to encourage them.?. Iv only a small garden about 10 feet by 10 feet surrounded by a wall,,, no its not a prison exercise yard before you ask lol
