    The blonde lady reminded me of my early sobriety. Someone told me it was "one day at a time", there’s 24 hours in a day and that was impossible for me as I couldn’t do all those hours, However, I could manage to last until my next cup of coffee, until lunch, until after the news. I could break my day down and last those 24 hours and now all my one days have added up to 25 years.

    Thank you to these women for sharing their experiences. I grew up with the crack epidemic in a major city and I watched family members struggle with addiction. Now as an adult I have a few friends who fell into the drug hole. I've watched so many people lose this game of roulette. No one ever wins. Ever.

    Addiction is also a habit and people forget this or more often, don't even think about this aspect. It's hard to break habits, even people who aren't addicted to substances can relate to the difficulty of breaking bad habits.

      I was the child of an addict as well and I always thought she chose drugs over me, now I am struggling with heroin addiction. Trust me it's not that she's choosing voluntarily, eventually you feel that you have no choice. Your brain tells you that your stuff comes first. Stay strong!

      Jude, No baby, your mom is caught up in the obsession of addiction. Imagine if you will all you can think about is something you want, something that turns off the screaming in you head! See that voice constantly telling her that she's a fake and a failure- worthless!! That's just a little part of what's going on. That voice in her head is trying to kill her. That's addiction goal!! Hang in there please go to alanon , that's for you..

      Is not about u been second place is about something people hand really hold then selfs up mentally get consumed by it dugs is what makes them cope with that, well what they so "bealive" understand drugs takes over that person like its not whom they use to be because there mind set is far to gone, like this people they came back from it as that's the goal, u should never as a person think any less of ur self on other people's actions, and this can eather brake u or make u, so hopefully this makes u a stronger person and it's something u can learn on life choices 🙏❤️💯

    so basically what you're saying is you feel opressed because women are less likey to get addicted. everyone feels shame for any reason regardless of gender. this video is pretty pointless as 95% of things that women go through addiction seem to be the same for men

      Do you really believe there is something inherently evil about having a physical or psychological dependency? There have been so many people throughout who have struggled with addiction that have made enormous contributions to society. Besides, I'm sure you have an addiction of your own whether you admit it or not.

    • @90MysteriumFascinans
      @90MysteriumFascinans Před 5 lety +11

      You may want to learn more about what addiction really is and what causes it. Gabor Maté has written interesting books about it, but his speeches are abundantly available on CZcams, too.
      Basically, humans aren’t fully cognitively developed until like 8 years old. (Evolutionarily speaking, this is because we have narrow hips to walk upright but also very large brains and skulls; we are born underdeveloped compared to any other species because that’s the largest head that will go through the birth canal...)
      This means that from 0-7, we’re absorbing our environment and experiences without any kind of protective mental filter. If we have traumatic experiences, or if we lack vital love, our brains actually develop differently.
      We become wired to use disassociative coping mechanisms and maybe seek highs. We function differently, take different risks. Because chances are, we may have ADD, anxiety, Bipolar disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, depression, ocd, etc.
      It’s possible to re-learn and re-program... but addiction is the ‘dark night of the soul.’ It’s extremely trying, and can be next to impossible to escape.
      That’s because it’s a complex, layered problem. The roots of addiction can go all the way back to infancy (pre-conscious trauma).
      Without the proper resources, how is someone so sick supposed to fix their life?
      Addicts need empathy, and healing resources. Sure, inappropriate behavior must be curbed and not written-off.
      But it can happen to anyone. No one is responsible for their childhood trauma. Humanity would be far better-off if we addressed and resolved the chronic illness that plagues society, rather than remain deaf and blind to the real cause and allow it to continue unchecked, claiming more and more lives indefinitely.

    • @Flashbang83
      @Flashbang83 Před 5 lety +5

      @@90MysteriumFascinans that is one of the best definition of childhood trauma in regards to development and crisis. Layered- so true!! Its so not 30 day detoxification and all is well. You must be willing to change. Most of all you must be willing to let go of him or her...books can be written on addicts refusals to let go of unhealthy spouses
