I absolutely love how they made Liberty Prime. A giant metal robot that shoots lasers, shouts out anti-communist propaganda and hurls mini nukes like a Goddamn quarterback. The most American thing ever seen in fallout except for the country itself.

The logic is: the American spirit in liberty prime does half the work of repairing jt
The explanation is rather easy, even from a logical in-universe point of view:
Most of the survivors don't have a clue how to build a car and are mere farmers to survive. At best they're rudimentary mechanics who can build some pipeguns or maintain some left over old world guns.
The Brotherhood and other major factions sure could build cars, tanks and stuff if they wanted to but for one they'd have to clear all the roads first and control the region to permit safe travel with them.
And for two, vertibirds are just more practicable in this world, just clear enough space for them to land or let people rappel themselves out of them. Plus, vertibirds are faster and armed.
Imho, if the respective game worlds would progress further after finishing the main story, where one faction controls the whole area, then you maybe could see mechanics popping up working on new cars.
I mean the wreckages are everywhere, so people in this fantasy world are bound to ask "What are these things? Do they have any potential use to us?".

It's ironic that every time Liberty Prime has been activated, it was to destroy a remnant of Pre-War America.
He was originally made to help liberate Alaska, but it was too costly to maintain him compared to power armor. But all prices must be paid one way or another, and who better to than the remnants of his creators.

Well the Enclave turned into the equivalent of American Nazi's with a fascist agenda and all, then there's the Institute which well the amount of human life they expelled for the sake of technological advancement to "help" humanity really shows that the BoS agenda is the best means in the Fallout universe
Whatever your opinion of Fallout 3 vs the original Fallout games, Liberty Prime was one of the best additions to the Fallout franchise.
I like Fallout 3, especially the atmosphere and the artistic design.
In theory LB seems like a good idea, however the realization is mediocre. From one side feels like a standard ripoff from Transformers (Optimus Prime = Liberty Prime), something Fallout 3 and 4 are known for (literally ''synths'' from Blade Runner and so on), but with zero personality or interaction with the protagonist.
From another side feels like they wanted a Fallout version of "The Iron Giant" (the movie is set in 1950), filled with irony. The irony to destroy unconsciously the remains of America.
The concept is not necessarily bad, however the evidence shows that Liberty Prime is so anonymous that the humor feels forced, it's the umpteenth carousel of dopamine in Bethesda's writing (there are more gratuitous explosions in the ''Take it Back'' quest than in all other Fallouts put togeher)... And, crucial, LB is so OP that takes out ALL the fun in final battles (something that needs to be enthralling for the player). You can drop the pad and "he" can still solo the entire Enclave, without any player interaction.
In Fallout 4, it's even worst, if possible. You could probably do everything at this point (a point in time where storytelling degree are real) with that robot, and instead of giving "him" a personality or a story (or at least some important changes from F3) you choose again the same stereotype...

They appear to have little effect on target yet still generate a blinding flash and a mushroom cloud. Well, Those two effects, especially the mushroom cloud, are achievable by conventional weapons. It's unlikely that weapons that caused as little damage as shown would generate a mushroom cloud.
That said, Liberty Prime is a beacon of hope in a world of terrors

The middle and end of fallout 3's story weren't that great, but this bit saved the whole thing for me haha and it's even funnier now than the first times I played as a kid. FO3 gets so much unjustified hate (hbomberguy), the world design in this game is probably the best I've ever encountered in any game
I think a lot of obsidian fans shit on FO3/FO4 for being Bethesda rpgs but I really like the world design and how you can just wander around and find cool things with unmarked quest storytelling.
@@greenbrickbox3392 That's exactly how I feel, New Vegas is a great game (still haven't played FO4) but the locations and world itself just didn't really engage me as much. But I did really appreciate the better story writing. FO3 was always to me like a GTA game, except you could actually enter almost all the buildings
I don't think any of that hate is unjustified. It just doesn't have good writing and world building and it breaks the lore of past entries. None of that is unjustified
@@daveyishere55 the world building is excellent what're you talking about. Better than FO:NV's even if that's the better game overall. There's actually interesting terrain, and ways to travel with the metro tunnels. And also there's lots of quests all throughout the map so you can find them independently of the storyline. Where as FO:NV's story takes you to almost every location because they're all on roads (I do think the roads are a good addition bit there should be more things separate of them.) I don't have much to say about it not having lore consistent with the other games because I haven't played them yet. So I think the story is the only bad part about the game, and even that is partially alleviated with the DLC.
So I think NV and FO3 are both great games and I'll probably like 1 and 2 when I play them too, wasn't a fan of 4 from an hour or two of playing but maybe I'll grow to like it if I give it time, but I dislike how they removed some of the RPG elements. It'd be cool if Bethesda and Obsidian could work directly together because they both have their own strengths and weaknesses.
