    Using 100 Barter on Oliver with House is the best ending; you form a House-NCR alliance that is beneficial for both factions. I would not hesitate to defend the idea that that ending is honestly even better for the NCR than their own ending. The NCR is no longer overstretched and House's Securitrons are much better built to guard carvan routes in the boiling desert than flesh and bone NCR troopers. The ending also involves promising the NCR a free hand in conquering the Legion's territory. In that ending the NCR millitary and Securitrons army join forces. The NCR avoids being overstretched. Hoover Dam runs more effectively than ever with House's technical experience overseeing it during the ending slides. Lastly, it is the only ending directly taking the fight to the Legion straight away. The Legion and the NCR will never attack the Mojave again, and the combined Sercuriton army-NCR millitary would be able to handle the predicted Tunneler migration from the Divide to the Mojave that Ulysses predicts. No other ending allows for that security.

    • @generaltobias3777
      @generaltobias3777 Před rokem +476

      Truly one of my favorite things about the House ending is just how powerful the Securitrons are. One MK. II Securitron could easily best at least 5 NCR Troopers at once, assuming they're all armed with mere service rifles. Any Legionary caught without a firearm would be decimated, same goes for raiders. I'm not too sure how powerful power armor is in lore, but I'm fairly certain it couldn't withstand 4-6 direct missiles/rockets from a Securitron, even so power armor seems to be a rare sight in the Mojave, especially now that the BoS is no longer around in the House ending, the nearest chapter being far away and all other forms of PA in the area are just stripped of their servos. Planes and vertibirds would struggle against the Securitrons anti air tactics, and vehicles would suffer against Securitron missiles as well. The only thing that I see posing a threat to Securitrons are tanks, artillery, and long range snipers/rocketeers. Of course the Mojave doesn't have infinite resources, House could make hundreds of Securitrons but keeping a steady supply of rockets and ammunition for every single unit could prove a challenge in times of war.

    • @Valcerv
      @Valcerv Před rokem +604

      @@Reiman33 oh boy here the argument comes. The main criticism with the NCR is while they have the most appealing option on paper, in practice they can't even send 10 troopers to kill giant ants on the road so what makes you think they are going to be able to secure a town? They only start to become a option that can actually protect their citizens and later the Mojave when the player puts in a entire playthroughs worth of babysitting to solve all their problems. Without the courier, the monorail blows up so they can't reinforce the dam as well, they don't stop the assassination of their president, they don't get cement from quary junction to reinforce the dam, they can't adequately feed their troopers at McCarren, forelone hope goes even deeper into the gutter as troops don't get supplies, chief Hanlon commits suicide so they lose the only smart millitary strategist that knows how to fix problems besides throwing troopers at it, information keeps getting leaked to the legion so they keep losing troopers to hit squads, the fiends keep pillaging the Mojave, any ncr in fireside gets killed during hoover dam, the embassy gets blown up, trade stops moving because they can't secure roads, they don't make a deal with the boomers, the brotherhood doesn't get dealth with, the kahns are still a problem, and countless other problems. They are only a faction that can actually back up the claims of protecting everyone once the courier comes along and solves all their problems. Meanwhile the legion, house, and yes man can actually work antimony without the help of the courier. The legion destroys ncr settlements, gets help from the omertas, extends a invitation to the kahns and figures out where the brotherhood is on their own. House figured out where the brother hood is, is actively looking into the omertas, has already figured out the legion is going to assassinate the president and is making moves to try and counteract it. House is also the only faction that demonstrates any idea of what to do AFTER hoover dam gets secured. Every faction wants it for water/power but just keeps going imperial mode after while house plans to use it to remake factories and make a economy to make better bots and go to space to make colonies. House and the legion are the only factions that demonstrate any capacity to secure the mojave/the residents there in any successful capacity, meanwhile all of the ncrs territories in the Mojave are plagued with problems waiting for someone to come fix them because they literally cannot do it themselves. If you don't do a ncr playtrhough, what good is the protection/governing style they plan to offer when they can't even protect their territories in the first place? Even with the brutality of the legion and house's expansion most people will get protection meanwhile the ncr is still stuck trying to kill 10 ants on the side of the road bottling up their main trade route. With house/yes man you arguably get more autonomy over yourself than the NCR anyway. Yes the ncr seem the most appealing but most people would rather live under the legion/house if it meant they got a stable food supply, didn't have to deal with raiders, and could actually protect them instead of just annexing their town by force, making them pay taxes to protect them, then not even following through. That's why most of the Mojave doesn't wanna join the ncr

      It's a testament to the quality of the games writing that even the bad guys of the game (Legion) have enough good qualities that you can appreciate why someone might prefer them to the "Good guys" (NCR).
      For all it's cruelty and barbarism, the Legion is at least competent enough to actually take steps to solve their own problems
      The NCR is almost cartoonishly rife with nepotism, bureaucratic bloat, and general incompetence, but at least they have benevolent intentions
      I really really really wish that Obsidian had been given enough time to really finish the game like they wanted. I don't think any of the existing factions would have been quite as they are today if the Devs had the time to polish the game.

      My take on Mr House is this: to him efficiency is the most important aspect. You’re allowed to do what you want and live like you want as long as you don’t cause problems and do your job. Mr house is focused on the big picture and the future of humanity as a whole meanwhile the courier with high karma is focused on the more immediate future and keeps things as stable as they can.
      As for what happens when the courier is dead, that’s a good question. However if house has the technology to preserve himself it wouldn’t be a huge leap to assume he could preserve the courier so the courier can keep things stable while house continues working towards the big picture.

But between the likely massive damage and loss of life resulting from the temporary anarchy, and you basically forcing yourself onto the throne with raw brute force and fear, it likely isn't something that will be accepted hands down without some occasional riots, protests and such (not to mention the lasseiz-fair attitude implied by the endings, possibly meaning that either no rule of law is enforced, or just the bare minimum).
      So yeah, it is absolutely canon, actually, check the endings. Both explicitly mention anarchy and riots ensuing. Only difference being, that with the robot army you do manage to eventually suppress (for the short term at least) the anarchy and riots, and if you don't have it, then true, total, 24/7 anarchy ensues. And don't expect the Followers to help much on keeping the peace, since with the Independent ending, they are mentioned to be completely overwhelmed and barely able to keep providing their services due to how many people there are from the influx of refugees.

He seemed to have the most clear vision of what to do and how to accomplish it. Didn't trusted benny and his favorite toy to do the job (specially since also the other factions were extremelly chaotic), and NCR also didn't had it's shit together, causing as many troubles as they tried to fix, and the legion... well, they're the legion, good for target practice in hard mode once you get tired of killing fiends.

      But yeah, he is a self-admitted authocrat, only without most of the "mortal", possible ways he could end up corrupted, and when you kill him or disrupt his plans he does sound genuinely caring and convinced of his claims. And between him, lasseiz-faire anarchy, hyper-corrupt NCR and Legion, he's the best choice you can afford. Yeah, dictatorship isn't nice, nor ruling coldly with a steel fist, but it is efficient and effective, which is what the wasteland direly needs, seeing everyone else either cares for themselves only, or try to go at it either in highly inefficient or extremely misguided ways (see the Followers) or in intentionally, completely wrong and malicious ways. Plus, heck, we are talking about a post-apocalyptic wasteland world full of factions either warring for control or wanting to live in their own little static or regressive bubbles, you can't expect sunshine and rainbows, as evident from the NCR (who tried to be a democracy, and see what happened, became an hyper-corrupt oligarchy actively harming its own people and serving the rich and powerful). Democracy is unfortunately a luxury that cannot be afforded in that situation, as first it'd require the majority of the population having to be able to survive and make it through a single day first, and then for them to be focused towards goals beyond the simple day-to-day survival, with zero net gain on reconstruction and betterment.

      I have seen first hand where they have been. And anyone who looks at this and goes "Man I want to be like them, i gonna join" needs to go. And when you talk to them in red rock, they are really living this.
      You have an easier time convincing me setting off the bomb in Megaton should give good karma then letting the Khans exist

    If you think about it as well House’s ending benefits from a geo political sense as well. Seeing as how if he’s out of the picture the NCR or the legion can gain power unchecked compared to him in power acting as a third actor in the southwest keeping the legion and NCR in check
