- Part of Supergreen Series: A Diesel powered electric car.
This was part of an exhibition at Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam.
The Supergreen Series is a series by Bart Eysink Smeets, Meeus van Dis and Steven de Peven. For the whole series: www.barteysinksmeets.com
He certainly either went to a lot of trouble to hack the car so it would run when it is plugged in or the generator is just turning fuel into noise to attract attention. My guess is the generator does not drive the car.
Yeah, this is fake. Set up just to discredit EV's.
.
INDEED ... ENFANT TERRIBLE 🤦♂️
I always thought the frunk under the hood of a Tesla....would be a great place for an emergency generator if no superchargers could be accessed.
They did but with the name Fisker Karma, and later Karma Revero.
This is just a series hybrid, and it's still more efficient than a conventional gasoline car. I plan on incorporating something along these lines into my electric truck at some point.
A vehicle beyond Metal Gear
Sorry to tell you that it's a gasoline generator and not a diesel.
I like that why don't hybrids work just like that
Chevrolet volt and opel ampera. Both have little battery and a small engine to charge the battery.
They do.
Hybrid!!!
Smart car with a Smart driver
Nissan e-power cars are basically all electric but it uses a gasoline generator instead of a battery 🔋
A noisy generator on top of an electric Smart Car! Now I have seen everything! I'm glad you don't live near me!
Too bad it's not using a diesel generator.
This is an art piece for those who don't know how to read the description.
description doesnt say much beyond "Diesel powered electric car"
so could be real or fake
@@blackfalkon4189 "This was part of an exhibition at Showroom MAMA, Rotterdam." It's literally the second sentence.
@@skiz8848 but that doesnt say if it's legit or fake
could be a fully functioning EV powered by a real gas generator or could be a regular battery-powered EV where the 'generator' only generates noise
@@blackfalkon4189 Oh I see, I couldn't find any more info on their website so who knows. I know many trains make use of a diesel generator to provide power to an electric motor. It's obviously less fuel efficient but the extra torque alone is worth it.
@@skiz8848 assuming this one's legit what's the efficiency of the conversion from fuel/chemical to electric energy for those generators?
Series hybrid?
Супертроллинг.
Как тебе такое, Илон Маск?
Hahaha very hilarious
A guy connected a generator to his Tesla x and drove from Chicago to California 😎
Extremely Eco-friendly 👁️👃👁️🙏
Is this California in 2022?
That's great
He is missing a battery-operated diesel gas maker.
Witte de With straat, oh yes
genius :-)
Brilliant!!
Hybrid nice idea ^^
Simply brilliant xD
Can anyone name the 3 dominant insulting objects in this video? E car+gas generator strapped to roof, le car
please buy some generators that are more portable and can be hidden in your storage trunk :-)
muito legal kkkkkkkk
Only in Hollandia
FMR
😂😂
Supar 😭👍❤️
California circa 2025
LOL that's not even plausible.
@@Neojhun i mean if u have a generator with the same output power rating as your ev's motors behind you on a trailer it will work
The comment section is full of people who believe in lies and lemons. All money no brains
Why dont car companies just make this ?? With an integrated power generator in front or boot???
You mean hybrid ?
@@walterschnipsel6334 not hybrid. Hybrids are very complicated and unnecessary.in hybrid car the petrol engine does driving but it does not charge the battery meant for running the electric motor.
I meant a REEV ...range extended electric vehicle in which the petrol engine never drives the car it only generates electricity to charge the battery.
@@sanakiddy2883 REEV is exactly hybrid.Like BMW or Opel cars or E-lokomotives or big ships.
@@sanakiddy2883 Even in hybrid cars the petrol engine charges the battery.
Very large dump trucks that haul iron ore, and some amphibious combat troop carriers have this system. A gas powered generator powers electric motors connected to the wheels.
Instead of batteries they just get direct power from generator... Yhars awesome... We can build smallest generator which can produce 500v and we can run a big car from it...... Fuel efficient... 49cc gasoline engine can work 4-5 hours in one liter.... Which means in one liter you can run a car for 4-5 hours... Super mileage
Or you can use the generator engine to just turn the wheels of the car through a multi speed transmission. That way you don't get the losses of converting to electricity and back.
@@TimpBizkit well actually the losses are minimal compared to the losses of having an engine running at an rpm range. The generator would always be running at perfekt rpm and that way it is way way more efficient
That would be 4-5 miles at 3 MPH.
The car has a HV (High Voltage) battery as well, and it uses it to get the juice for the electric motor.
The generator charges this HV battery.
@@TimpBizkit so basically a regular gas powered car?
Thats stupid 😂
More clean than a Tesla
Save the planet go electric
HOAX 🤦♂️
Cockamamie and highly inefficient waste of resources in converting petro-chemical energy into heat, then into mechanical energy in the gas motor, which is then converted into electrical energy, which the electric motor converts into mechanical energy once again in driving the wheels on the road. There is a loss of energy at every conversion from one form to another.
But Chemical Energy is not the only option when it comes to BEVs. Soo you have a logical fallacy.
Complete Hoax!
But such a head turner!!!
Firstly, NO EV can drive while plugged in.
Secondly. NO EV has an onboard charger with enough output to run the car at road speeds.
An EV uses 25Kw to 50Kw to cruise at highway speed, a generator with that output is a diesel trailered generator.
If you could wire a generator to produce 390 to 410 VAC and an inverter to convert to DC, then you could run it to the Drive inverter inputs for extended range.
Funny but totally fake. For safety reasons an EV can't drive with an active charging cable.
You never know, this car might have been tampered with, and able to bypass this safety feature.
@@Marginal391 | Not impossible but much more likely it’s just a couple of idiots making some construction for EV bashing.
A second reason why it’s much more likely fake: Even if tapered with, you wouldn’t be able to drive with it when the battery is dead because such a generator simply can’t provide enough peak power.
