Three of Swords Cards That Don't Disappoint

- There are two cards in the tarot deck I tend to be dissatisfied with and they are the three of swords and the eight of wands. Well, these three of swords had me smiling from the inside out.
To riff on your thoughts... sometimes I think of the 3 of Swords is overkill. Are 3 swords necessary to kill the heart? Wouldn't just one do? Then where are the other two coming from? Not the outside, but from within; we can overthink our own emotional hurt. This is in keeping with the obsession you speak of. Nice call out on the Somnia Tarot's conception of the card. I enjoyed your thoughts on all of these.

Really enjoyed this one. The 3 of swords is a wonderfully complex card and too few decks take up the challenge to articulate that in the art work. It’s one of my go to cards in deciding if I want the deck, that and the 8 of wands. Your explanation on how you think about it resonates with me a lot. I often think of it in terms of cognitive dissonance or betrayal trauma. Something long held suddenly realised as not true. Looking forward to watching your 8 of wands video. ❤

I really admire how you see and explain the 3 of Swords on the cards you showed. Your thoughts on the grief that will occur when you must make a decision that causes sadness, really made sense to me as a new way of looking at the 3 of Swords. Very thought provoking.
One of my favorites is the 3 of Wind, with the keyword recognition on it. It is from the Tarot of the Spirit. For me it speaks of recognizing what the outcome of your decision has been. It speaks of a way of learning. Seeing a new way of thinking to get yourself moving again.

You are proving my point that the reader absolutely must meditate and consider the decks that they are using before they use them . This is why I think that the traditional RWS Deck is best for large crowds, where there are people you really don’t know and cannot meditate beforehand to be able to responsibly pick out a deck that will convey the messages. These special decks to me are for those clients or that Friend or that family member for yourself when you need the truth when you need to go deeper way way deeper with all of the meetings, not just the three of swords. Thank you Benny for this amazing videos you have made me want to journal on this.

The classic RWS three of swords is the card that made me absolutely fallen in love with the tarot the imagery it will always be the card that calls to me.
For me decks do make a differenced based on energy of the person and the type of readying being requested. I follow my intuition with which deck to use. Thanks for watching. 😉

Very insightful and nuanced distinctions on these various facets of grief/heartbreak. I also look for decks that show fresh interpretations of the card meanings, especially this card and 8 of wands, since most newer ones don't make the effort on either. Really nice video, Benny.

I just found your channel and am loving these deep dives into the same card but different depictions. The 3 of Swords is one I feel can sometimes be either too simple that I feel pigeonholed into the typical “heartbreak” card or so open ended I get lost in it. Seeing all these different depictions and also your personal perspective was really interesting and gave me some new insights!
I tend to see the 3 of Swords as a card of many faces… heartache, mental anguish, pure confusion between the head and the heart, grief that feels different than say the 5 of Cups, shame felt after a decision, mental pain causing emotional distress, punishing yourself mentally because of how you are feeling, guilt, self punishment, and many more. It’s a complex card for sure! 🗡️❣️⚔️

Very thought-provoking video!! What I’ve come to realize from watching this is that the deck I choose for a specific reading will offer the meaning that is meant to be heard at that moment. My most favorite 3oS is the Anna K Tarot because of my personal experience of having to break off an engagement because I knew it wasn’t right for both of us. But, when I look back on that experience, it was a life-changing moment that led to feeling empowered. By the end of this video and seeing the Spolia card and thinking about the classic RWS is that maybe, these cards are more about the mental aspect, the memory of the sad event. Is your heart still bleeding, your heart has been scarred but you’ve survived and are healing each day, what have you learned from this, how has it made you stronger???? And what I’m also finally internalizing, is that the cards around it will help with the interpretation. Thanks Benny, your individual and group study videos are really making me think long and hard. Best wishes and see ya next time❤️🤟☀️. Edited: I pulled 3 cards from Bohemian Tarot and asked What do you see the 3oS meaning in a daily spread? And then I looked at Journaling The Tarot: Evolutions by Andy Matzner. So interesting that it has tons of views from others. There is soooo much more to this card!

I really love your videos and your openness and honesty - so refreshing the way you talk and the personal things you share. If you do have Tarot of the Abyss there are 2 cards for the 3 Swords - you might find the alternative card really interesting and what Ana Tourian says about it in her guide book. What I love about the traditional RWS 3 Swords is its simplicity that then can speak to all the interpretations you discussed. Such an interesting series idea, I am going to seek out your 8 Wands video.
