    Everyone, I am very happy to be back! (Felt like longer than a week because before I was off the wifi and couldn’t communicate with you guys for already some weeks).
    Like many others I feel very helpless in the current situation though - but I decided to donate half of the Ad-revenues of this video to Razom for Ukraine ( razomforukraine.org/ ), that is providing critical medical supplies. Razom as well put together a list of links with organizations to donate to or if you can't donate events to attend, so everyone can find a cause they can support: linktr.ee/RazomForUkraine
    PS: all of our Russian friends are of course always welcome here too - if there is a war, there is mostly not only one nation suffering. Don’t let one man divide nations.
    PPS: I have donated to pretty much all recent crises - but only to humanitarian causes as I don’t want to support military of any kind. I will not justify any further why I donate money.
    If you feel the need to raise the voice for the circumstances that there have been many wars that didn’t get the media attention they deserve I am with you - but it is not one war against the other. They are all terrible, but blaming people for their humanitarian support at the moment doesn’t help anyone. I am with you and we will find another way to raise awerness for the regions in the world that are not very well off or suffer under their governments/wars in the future.
    NO FIGHTS UNDER THIS VIDEO - THERE IS ENOUGH FIGHTING GOING ON OUT THERE.

    When the rain stops, when the sky is no longer lit by rays of fire, when it stops snowing and the sun appears on the horizon, bathed in hope... The perfume of flowers, invading valleys and mountains, mantles embroidered with green.. .Smile!
    Narrow, winding roads... They rise in branches and their arms extend to the ridges, epic of the Alps. From the dream to the road, no matter how steep, a living picture, full of desires.... The purr of the engines, the smile of the wheels, the joyful skipping of the gravel... that smell of earth and gasoline... far away the rattling of animals, running from the springs... in each tight curve, smile! Smile because on the road, life is full of surprises. Smile, even on stormy days, the world doesn't end, it transforms.
    In this race against time, lost between landscapes... Wills and destinations, I take and leave a smile, a thank you, a good return regardless of your destination. Well done!

    I finally got to ride the Assietta in September of 2015 on my old VStrom 1000. When I woke up in Sestriere the next morning, I was 70 years old. I really shouldn't ride these roads alone. They say as you get older you get wiser. They lie. Great video and some great memories.

    NOTE: This video was edited and produced before the war in Ukraine started - that's why it is not a topic.
    I decided to donate half of the Ad-revenues of this and the upcoming vidoes of the series DESTINATION HOME (I wish I could donate all of them, but I need to cover at least a bit of the production costs...) to Razom for Ukraine ( razomforukraine.org/ ), that is providing critical medical supplies and amplifying the voices of Ukrainians. Razom as well put together a list of links with organizations to donate to or if you can't donate events to attend, so everyone can find a cause they can support: linktr.ee/RazomForUkraine
    So it is even more imoportant that you guys join my ride, give the video a thumbs up and COMMENT, so other people get to see this video too and we can raise at least a little money.
    PS: I will not involve myself in any political discussions here in the comments of this video. I have as well donated to a lot of other causes and regions in war/crisis in the past, and I will not justify any further why I now want to donate to humanitarian help for Ukraine.

    The best book for this trips;Großer Alpenstraßen-Führer from Denzel. I have ridden there with my Defender 110 and 1 time with KTM950ADVENTURE. Last time September ‘19 on other track, the colle du Parpillion was covered with snow and dangerous to drive on 2 wheels. Also the “Tende” region are nice offroad tracks!!

    Hello from flat Florida USA.
    I was fortunate to have spend a few days riding around the Italian Alps in 2019.
    In my 40+ years on motorcycles I had never seen anything like it. I was so captivated by the area that upon returning to USA I began making preparations to permanently move to southern Spain so I could be a day or two away from the Alps, unfortunately covid appeared right before my move.
    Thank you for the beautiful video, it took me back to one of my most memorable rides.

    • @Got2Go
      @Got2Go  Před 2 lety +1

      😂😂😂 but to be honest it was not the Tenere that broke down, it was a screw that vibrated off the panniers that are not from Yamaha and the break pads are my own fault. So I wouldn’t count this is a Tenere breakdown as it is nothing with the bike in general! 🤗😂 (and if I should have a real breakdown with this Tenere at one point as well don’t forget that it has been sitting and waiting in westafrica to return to Europe for nearly a year and that so many parts of it unfortunately got quite rusty on the ship Transport due to the salty air and water - so my bike is probably in a much worse shape than any normal Tenere would be after three years. I still believe though that it will last a very long time! 😍)

    I’ve ridden many many hairpins in the Alps and in Norway….in a car. I ride through these things as fast at the locals. I only did the hairpin’s on my bike in the Eifel mountains and they were no problem to me.
    It’s so beautiful where you rode here.
    I don’t think I can ride many motorcycle tours this year because of the high and still rising petrol prices and energy costs. Only heating my home costs me about €100 a month extra.

      No, to those places I very likely still will not. It’s Europe and everything is in a very short reachable distance, I have an insurance for a tow survice that works in all countries - that’s why I as well didn’t bring any to this trip and we just decided to go and look for spare parts on the way if we need some. It’s just not worth to carry 10kg of tools and spare parts if you can just buy them on the way or find someone with the right tools in the next village.
      But I thought I would still make it home with the brake pads, which I obviously didn’t. 😂

    Fenestre und Assietta waren meine ersten Schotterstrecken, die ich gefahren bin und damals stolz wie Bolle, nicht umgeworfen zu haben. Letztes Jahr bin ich beide dann zum 5. mal gefahren und sie sind immer noch schön. Nicht schwierig aber dann hat man mehr Zeit die Aussichten zu geniessen und die sind wirklich atemberaubend. Rund um Bardonecchia gibt es dutzende solcher Strassen und es zieht mich immer wieder in die Gegend. Leider sind viele mittlerweile verboten.

    Another great video! Rode Assietta and Colle dell' Finestre late August/Early September. Absolutely awesome. I share your view. Assietta is a gem. Coming down on the other side a little above Sportina, I (accidentally) discovered a much harder route. It's an enduro track that you won't find on any map. And yet, my GPS erroneously led me to the start of it. Or the end, all depending.
    Too late I realized, after some hefty down-slopes, shit ... I won't be able to ride back up. So I had to wiggle myself down, the steepest inclines I've ever done. Pretty tough, with a KTM 1290SAS packed with luggage. Eventually I had to drop it, but managed to get it up, and then bring myself and the steed down to civilization. Twas tough, but as adventures go, I'll remember it! As for Assietta, oh I'll be back. Cheers. :)

      @Got2Go  Před 2 lety +1

      Sportina is as well the direction where our hotel is - we got lost there a few years ago too and we had to ask three enduro riding kids to please ride in front of us and show us the way out. 😂
      But I think it’s getting much more orderly now, they paved many of the roads there that were still dirt when we visited the first time many years ago.

    Agree; doesn`t matter if a lot of people have been there, it is your experience which is important. Back in 2009 I did ride the Route 66, on a Harlet of course. Some asked why I did bother, so many people ride the Route...? For me it is still the famous Route 66, and when you have read the history behind and ride and find all the famous places it was for me a great experience :)
