PYRENEES & TET SPAIN: Offroad on SMUGGLER ROUTES of the TRANS EURO TRAIL

- Come with me to Northern Spain, find the scenic routes off the beaten track in the Spanish parts of the pyrenees, ride part of the Spanish Trans Euro Trail with me - and travel on old, illegal smuggler roads to the micronation Andorra.
There are roads, that have a history. Roads, that are gems, just waiting to be found and to be explored - and we will explore these roads in the spanish Pyrenees from Val D'Aran, the skiing area Baqueira-Beret all the way to the mountain town Tor and on old offroad smuggler trails on the Trans Euro Trail Spain to the border of Andorra.

ALERT! Inspired by your great video, today I did the loop through the Marimanha nature reserve starting from the Baqueira ski resort. Beautiful route, BUT, some 8kms before the end of the track at Refugio el Fornet, I was stopped by two park rangers who informed that now the route is prohibited for motorcycles! Although cars are allowed to pass, motorcycles violate the 'acoustic' regulations. At the risk of a hefty fine they told me to return all the way back. I did not mind cause I had twice the fun😂 but beware that motorcycles are not allowed all year round. Tomorrow I do the 'legal illegal' smugglers route from Alins to Andorra😊

Another great video with two of my favourite routes. In 2005 there was still a sign at the border (Andorra) but it's been gone for a long time now and they haven't replaced it.

Thank you, it makes me very happy that you are enjoying the read too! Yes, the book is very different than the videos, it’s much more personal because it’s not easy to record moments like those on video if you don’t want to fake them or stage them and stay authentic. I as well don’t always have a camera running when meeting people, I feel that is just not nice, so many of the things that happen during my journeys are as well not on camera and therefore better written down!

That brought back some lovely memories for me. I also rode the TET from Bilbao to Tremp in June 2019 and absolutely loved it, that section through bear country ( the National Park don't want vehicles passing through there too early as they can disturb the hibernating bears ! ) to Baqueira is simply beautiful ( I travelled West / East )...and I travelled solo on my 690 Enduro.
I really do have to make the effort to get back there sometime, the Pyrenees are amazing and also much quieter than the Alps, and the Spanish are so chilled.

You should for sure ride down here at one point - it’s very worth it. As well without a supersport - or if he takes it and you drive roads like this with it, it would be an extra adventure! 😂😂😂
