  • This is a video overview of the CTS Turbo Intake for the 8v (2017+) Audi RS3 and TTRS of the same generation.
    Best audio comes in at 3:00. The GoPro doesn't really pick up the actual volume, and being in the car is much better. The butt-dyno is definitely demonstrating quicker throttle response, and probably a few more ponies down low, however with over 350 HP on tap an increase of 6-11hp (reported by CTS Turbo) may not be fully felt.
    Current car specs:
    2018 Audi RS3; Dynamic, Black Optics
    Mid Pipes
    Intercooler
    Filmed with a GoPro Hero 4 w/ a RAM double suction mount on the sunroof glass

    Great vid! I was planning to install the cts intake once I bought my RS3, so now I know the what the installation process is like.

    I am receiving my CTS intake tomorrow for my TTRS, this video will certainly help me on the install. I also have the CTS intake on my Avant, like that flutter.

    just a question .i have a rs3 how do you get the change in color on the rev counter ? im pretty sure i saw it change to yellow and green ,thanks . car sounds great

    • @Mbhhalfalasi
      @Mbhhalfalasi Před 4 lety

      You get those lines only when you slide the gear into manual not when it is on D/S only Manual, so once you slide it into Manual and you have the Sport cockpit layout, that should get you the revs color when you are about to shift up

    • @fasterskunk

      I do not - You're hearing stock intake with the mid-pipes.

    Great vid mate! I've got a mk3 8s ttrs and I've just ordered this kit. Besides the turbo sound do you find it increases over engine noise than stock?

    By installing this intake did it make the sound of the exhaust louder and more pops and bangs?!

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 3 lety

      Depending on the year, some of them have an audi-factory-removed pops and bangs tune (is what it is...). The CTS Turbo (or any open intake) will accentuate the engine sounds. I'm currently running the CTS Turbo in this video, as well as the mid-pipe delete and I absolutely *love* the sound of my car. As a 2018 with a Unitronic Stage 1+, I do have pops and bangs that sound quite nice and rumbly :) Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe!

      @@fasterskunk yes! I have 2018 before the filter so it pops now and I have the miltek 2nd cat delete so by installing this you think it will make more sound and popping?

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 3 lety

      @@domturbocharged7660 The only way to *add* popping is with a Tune. an open intake will absolutely add more volume to the engine noise.

      @fasterskunk  Před 6 lety

      Boosted Veedub yeah, it’s on the list. I’ve got a few things planned and want to keep track of how much each piece changes the Cara characteristics. I really want to have better brakes before starting to add too much more power, too. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!

      @lt.martincastillo5122 Před 3 lety

      @@fasterskunk better brakes for what reason? The OEM brakes of the Facelift are already big and strong (better than 2016 model) and in your country anyway you're not allowed to go faster than 120 kmh lol... Upgrade brakes you only need on German Autobahn where you can drive 300+ kmh if you want

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 3 lety

      @@lt.martincastillo5122 The brakes size is one thing, however despite their size, they overheat extremely quickly, and the carbon ceramic option is no better at overheating the brake fluid. One of my other videos has a brake fade off-track excursion that I did at Dominion Raceway. I'm working with a company on a prototype setup that will drop the weight significantly, increase cooling, and increase the piston area on the factory caliper size by around 20%! Stay Tuned and thanks for commenting!

    Did you notice a performance difference? Or just a noise difference? ?

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 5 lety

      Fred Flinstone definitely a performance increase. Turbo seems to spoil a bit quicker, and from all the dyno results, this is worth around 20-23 hp.

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 5 lety

      @Canadian RS3 First set came from BMP Tuning out of Texas - I believe that CTS Turbo has done their own at this point, and there have been a few that popped up on the facebook group "audi 8v S3/TTS/RS3/TTRS owners group" - so I'd start with any of those resources.

  • @JustinAPTD
    @JustinAPTD Před 5 lety

    Are you worried about dirt etc getting in? That’s my only issue with this intake is that it just sits wide open

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 5 lety +1

      It's not actually open - as there is still a cone filter. That said, no, I'm not worried about dirt getting in as this is really no more open than a 'closed box' type intake... it just doesn't route the air quite as efficiently. The closed box ones that I've seen appear to make about 3 more hp, on average; however are usually starting at an extra $400USD - which I could easily use elsewhere.

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před rokem

      With most audi shops it won’t, unless they can directly trace whatever broke back to the intake itself. It’s not like a tune where it’s an automatic warranty issue. Good luck and thanks for watching!
