  • In this review I'll go over setup, breakdown, functional usage, as well as a bit of my experience in using the EZ Up Camping Cube 6.4 in a non-EZ Up branded 10x10 sun-shade (pros, and cons!) I'm using this as a Race/Track weekend shelter so that I can avoid any extra need or expense to drive away from the track for a hotel. I'll be using the products linked below in this particular review.
    Also, sorry for the bad audio - Not a whole lot I could do given the tools I had! My newer videos are much much better! Please like and subscribe so that I can create more content!
    I'm using the following products for this review:
    EZ Up Camping Cube:
    www.amazon.com...
    Coleman Sunshade:
    www.target.com...
    LG Portable Air Conditioner:
    www.homedepot....
    I'm also filming this using a GoPro Hero 7 Black and GoPro Session 5 with a JOBY tripod mount.

    I have had an EZUP tent cube for about 10 years. I love it! My hubby and I can get the whole tent up in the pitch black in less than ten minutes. Mine recently succumbed to age so I have been shopping around thinking of something else...not gonna do it. I'm buying another of these they're just incomparable..

    One time years ago I went camping during a very hot week. I had planned the trip a year in advance. I put a window unit on a milk crate inside and rested the back end on another milk crate outside. Milk crates have holes so no worries about venting hot air or water dripping. I did have to cut a hole in the tent which I duct taped.
    But it worked. Very well in fact. We were quite cool inside during 100 degree temps all week.

      I also used a special extension cord to make sure I didn't catch the tent on fire. I researched it. Look online.

      I don't see why they can't make a single hose AC work the same was as a window unit like you did. If the single hose unit keeps drawing warm air into the tent/room, then we're just rowing a boat against the current without any oars. Very, very poor design.

    I have a similar tent for a 10*10 that was purchased about 10 yrs ago. We call it the Taj Mahal because it's enormous! We use a queen airbed in the center with a cot size airbed on either side for the kids. Leaves plenty of room for backpacks and a cooler at the entrance side.

      When at the race-track, overnight (or bad weather), one side straps to the race trailer (4900 without the car), and the other goes to either the truck (5200), or race car (3500)... it'll rip before it blows away!

    Costs more, but is completely waterproof.
    It is also a bit heavier, so makes it better in windy conditions.

    I have a popup called the Clam that we put next to our Sprinter Revel when we are out seems easier than this, but nice that EZ up came up with this. I had one of the first EZ ups that weighed a ton. Good video.

    • @harrymills2770
      @harrymills2770 Před 2 lety

      Clam's a little easier. Thing about EZ-Up weighing a ton is you're setting it up right next to what carries it. EZ-Up is a lot more substantial, and you could equip yourself so that it's not much work getting it to its spot. Clam's a little sketchy when the weather's REALLY bad. No accessory shelter's going to be proof against hurricane, so you just have to decide how weather resistant it's practical to make it. With the extra cargo room you get from adding a trailer, you could add a monster outfitter's tent to your gear.

    This was a nice video you did of the tent. Love the fact that it has a doggy door on it you can use the air condition through that. I need to pick me up one of these tents. Having 5 boys and a granddaughter this would be a nice size tent for the family. I like how you demonstrate of you putting it up and down. I really really like how you demonstrate of putting it up and down in Flip flops its shows exactly how easy it is to be done in flip flop. Flip flops is the only footwear that will fit me because i have big very very wide feet sz15 6 EEEEEE wide with very fat wide toe that are equally straight across making my foot 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my little toe. My foot outgrew shoes , socks , and boots 33 years ago so I cannot find anything that is wide enough to fit my foot and people say there is not a lot of things you can do in flip-flops like you can do in shoes. I am a living proof and this video shows that you can do it in flip flops too. I really really appreciate you doing some of the video in your flip-flops. Being born with a very very extremely wide foot & knowing as a little kid that my foot was very very extremely wide I did not care at the time. But I never thought that my foot would get this extremely wide to the point to where I would had to live my life barefooted 👣Style because of having a very very extremely wide feet. Trying to find Footwear for a foot that is 6 1/2 inches wide is very very difficult 2 fine. My flip flops barely and I mean barely fit my foot because of my toes being wider than the flip flop straps. I know this sounds crazy but Again I really really appreciate you doing this video in your flip-flops. It really really helps me deal with the fact of have a very very extremely wide foot problem & seeing videos like this help me deal with this problem people since people keep telling me I should not do things in flip-flops but this is the only Footwear that will barely fit my foot. Apologize for this being so long sir thank you.

    I'm sure it was said already assuming that is one of those portable one vent AC units, they create negative pressure when installed normally very inefficient if you're running on inverter system not to mention what all is coming in from outside I prefer cheap window unit for this purpose but those one tube units are very practical when spot cooling if you work in attics.

Our tent stayed dry and the AC worked beautifully. Sorry for the delayed response - Just realized that I was missing all of my notifications for the comments!
      The top canopy stays taught enough that it won't pool, however the seams are *not* waterproof. I would take a 15x15 tarp (like a thin, waterproof, camping tarp from REI) to drape over the entire thing and secure to prevent *any* water from leaking in. I have studied those portable AC units and have determined that few of them are properly designed. As he points out, you really need two hoses, one being air intake. They also need a condensation drip bucket as you don’t want it simply dispersing the water on the fan and raising the humidity. Finally, there will be no insulation so don’t expect great cooling. I expect you could make a simple wall-unit work, for much less money and greater simplicity - it becomes a question of getting it through the tent wall and finding a suitable platform to set it on.
    Good luck but I can see you left it up in the air.
    Finally, note that the EZ Up Cube is not available from Amazon at this time, just the one for angled-leg canopy. They are expensive at about $272.

I even set it outside, and cardboard boxed the unit to the outside of tent, at best, if you layed in front of it, you might feel a little cool. but having a unit with exhaust tube outside, is the KEY! get the waterless drip kind, and no drips in tent! 82 outside, in direct sunlight, it would cool to 74. best feeling ever to have working ac with remote, in a tent! • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey! Thanks for watching! As long as there is a support beam across the center of the 10x20, I think you'll be good to go. As far as the portable AC, a dual hose AC system is the *ideal* way to accommodate this problem, however if that's not available, simply leaving the flap un-done is acceptable and keeps you cool (especially if the cool are is blowing in your general direction). Let me know if you're going to be in the Carolina's region for a track day anytime soon! (Oh - and would appreciate a subscribe if you don't mind!)

I got worried about the vertical walls of the cabin cube acting like a sail and getting blown away, so I went with the Coleman because it is has a tube shape and still has plenty of height in the middle. Won't need AC this weekend, but for summer camping I will keep an eye out for a dual hose unit. Subscribed!

      I used this setup in August in North Carolina, in the middle of a paddock at a race track (no real shade). I woke up twice, because I was cold! During the day it certainly helped knock the heat down, but I wouldn't have said it got all the way down to 70, probably closer to 74-75 just due to the efficiency loss of a single hose unit. I would recommend that anybody trying this in the future go with a dual hose. Thanks for watching!

    • @fasterskunk
      @fasterskunk  Před 2 lety

      If you're using a dual-hose style setup, then it should absolutely keep up (especially since that means that you can seal up the top center!), The single hose setup will eventually pull in more warm, un-conditioned "outside air". I'm actually selling both of my portable AC units (single hose models) to get a single dual hose just because it's that much more efficient. Thanks for watching, Hope this helps!
