  • The Snake Plant leaves fall over due to improper watering. The snake plant is from the succulent family and it does not appreciate overwatering. The leaves of this plant are filled with water and when you overwater the plant the root structure becomes more brittle and is more susceptible to root rot. The snake plant is from west Africa and is used to being and drought seasons. This means that it prefers a thorough watering and then dried out completely for like a month. You should roughly be watering this plant like once a month.
The snake plant is a very misunderstood plant. It is actually part of the succulent family of plants and needs less water than what you would ever think. It is considered to be one of the easiest beginner friendly house plants but you also need to properly understand how to take care of it. What’s nice about the snake plant is that the leaves are going to tell you what’s going on with the plant.

Great advice. I have one with 4' leaves and one was tipping over, so I watered more. Now I REALLY know I overwatered it. I put it near a window on a heat vent to try and dry out soil. First time in 5 years I've had a problem. Thanks!

One of my snake plants leaves are falling over and it seems like it needs more soil at the base. Would that help or should I just repot the whole plant? Connie

The leaves of my plant felt over. Most of the leavee felt normal, the lower part were it was disconnected from the roots, was moist and there most of the leave substance had disappeared. With a magnifier glas lots of mites little less than a milimeter were seen plus many tiny young ones. The mites were greenish with translucent skin and had 2-3 dark spots in the middle line of their backs. I have no idea whether these mites were the cause or the after effect of some other cause. Does someone know what could have happpened?
