Your lonely solitary bee on a white flower at 4:05 is a fly. It only has two wings. Doesn't mean it's not a valuable pollinator or that we shouldn't try to preserve its habitat, of course.
I thought flies were very valuable as pollinators though?

Normal people's baby videos usually just include a baby being a really messy eater but hey, I'm not gonna complain ...
As a beekeeper I have to say this is probobably one of the most well informed videos about why bees are dying. I just want to add that if you really want to help your local bee population, plant some pollinator friendly fowers. If you look up what kind of species you have in your area you can even specialize what flowers you plant, as some species of solitary bees only fly to a few kinds of flowers. I litteraly found your channel today and its amazing keep up the good work!!!
Remember to plant native species!
This channel is criminally undersubbed.

Fun fact: bees don’t actually build their hives in hexagons, they build them in circles. The pressure eventually turns them into hexagons because it’s the strongest shape in nature. The same thing happens if you blow a lot of bubbles on a small surface :)

The bit about the laws of aviation is pertaining to fixed-wing aircraft. Bees do not have fixed wings. Additionally, western honeybees are not the only pollinators, and they suppress the populations of naturally occurring pollinators.
Honeybees can actually starve out local pollinators.
Any recommended alternatives in that case?
Ehhhhh no, the math was done but it wasn't done properly. The reason bees fly, or many insects, is they get lift on both the up and down stroke. They thought the wings couldn't change angles, that's what the fixed wing was about. However the wings rotate and go up and down, somewhat. It's easier to see in slow-motion and point it out.
But the bee hotel is for solitary bees however :)
@@superjudgebunny yeah so exactly what she said. Why are you just repeating the original comment with different words?

We(me and my dad) just drilled holes in some blocks of wood, and now have a thriving colony of mason bees(pretty blue bees that are really effective pollinators)
I just love how you can turn a serious situation into enjoyable content so more people will watch and understand the impact we have. If we are aware of a situation we can do somthing to change it.
Great video! As a heads up for anyone else who wants to do this, you do have to do a little bit of maintenance each season:
-when the temperature is below 60 degrees F consistently, the bees will go dormant. You’ll have to take the tubes out and place them in a shed or garage to protect them from parasites. You can use a rubber band to hold them together and a mesh/caps if you’re worried about early risers. If bees in your garage makes you nervous, you can instead support bachelor bees by planting native flowers (and it’ll be just as pretty!)
-In the spring, place the tubes back and allow all the baby bees to fly off. After giving yourself a pat on the back, clean the tubes out or replace them. Bamboo will usually last you 2 years.
It also helps to check every now and then for mold or predatory birds!
great video, your little baby bee is adorable.... But mainly get an upvote for walking out of the house i the green suit, and then coming back for your hat.... and then continuing the video in your green suit. That got me. Well played sir!

Is it bad that I’m scared to death of caterpillars, but I have let a bee land on my hand and actually had a chat with it. I love bees
Just a heads up, but the solitary "bee" right around 4mins in is 100% not a bee, but a fly from the family Syrphidae. This is kind of OK, since syrphid flies can be important pollinators, especially early in the season before bees really get going and in more extreme environments (e.g., alpine areas).
"It's open for bees-nes" 😂😂😂
Been feeding the bees outside my house varies candies and sugar and noticed they would fight each other it and figured out they are solitary bees. Might build them a house. They are so cute and smart. Didn't want them in the house so I herd them outside and they dont fly all crazy and actually follow my hands as I herd them outside. So cool.
