i feel like its very confusing in the sense that, for example the level line for frequency balance. How are you supposed to know if its showing you you mix in relation to the reference or the other way around

It depends which one you have selected. The selection is highlighted once you click on it

Right in the middle it says original and reference, whichever one you have selected is lit up blue

@@LiamBradburyMusic so are you saying that if you have original selected and the line in the high frequencies is above this means that your mix has more highs than the reference and if you have reference selected and the line in the highs is above this means that the reference has more highs than the original. I thought regardless of what you have selected the line is still telling you the same thing

The line is showing the discrepancy between the two. E.g., if the line is below zero in the bass range , than your mix (original) lacks a bit of bass frequencies compared with the bass in the reference song.
