You can still lose for catching the snitch.
It's worth 150 points and ends the game. (Aka You can end it b4 times up, so opponent less time to make goal thus sure win with 150)
So if opposite team have 200 points vs 20+150, they still would have lost. Or if time's up and snitch not caught then will be based on goals scored.

I really like at the end of the video when you give kudos to the villain actors. Dudley and Draco in particular. It must have been hard to be so young and so HATED for decades by everyone who has ever watched these movies and all the future viewers for decades to come, especially when the others are so loved and popular.
Dudley never got to leave the family home set. He never got to enjoy Hogwarts. I love him the best in an upcoming movie when he’s a teenager. He is an excellent actor. They both are!
Fun Fact with Quidditch. Catching the Golden Snitch doesn't guarantee you'll win for your team. True, you get 150 points for your team by catching it, but the match literally doesn't end (unless the match needs to be canceled) until the Snitch is caught. So even though catching the Snitch nets you 150 points, if the other team is so far ahead that 150 points won't put you in the lead, then all you're doing is ensuring the other team wins if you catch the Snitch early before your team has had a chance to close the gap in points.

Harry Melling and Tom Felton were definitely two of the best child actors from the very start in these movies. The others take some time before catching up.
exactly. harry melling is still excelling as an actor til this day and tom felton’s excellent performance as draco is proof enough of his talent. the others are amazing as well, but like you said they took some time to get to their level

Yo when u said "WHAT $#!# is this?" When Quirrell unwrapped his head I had to pause it cuz I was dying ova here man! And when I calmed down and went to restart... It was paused on you looking confused, amused, and disgusted all at the same time! I died again 😂😂 Mostly because I had that same reaction the first time I watched it too... Thanks for that. I needed that laugh. Off to binge the rest of them! Stay safe!
Yeah, the producers didn’t think that American kids would recognize the term and if they did, they didn’t want it to bore kids thinking the movie was going to be about a Philosopher, so they changed it to a term that is universally recognized and associated with magic, Sorcerer. They filmed the scenes that mentioned it twice with both words and released the Sorcerers Stone version in America primarily.
Also, I want to add something important about the Quidditch games. Yeah, I think that story wise, since our main characters were in Gryffindor and the author, JK Rowling wanted to give him ( Harry) some interesting skills other than being skilled in magic she went with flying. The movie and the books do kind of favor Gryffindor in the beginning for this reason, the whole story is centered around this divide between the two houses because of the history and negative connotations that Slytherin acquired due to the large amount of wizards who went down a dark path ( which also isn’t to say that Slytherins are inherently bad or evil but to a child it might seem that way). The first two movies are kind of a Slytherin vs Gryffindor because the students have their own opinions and take certain sides because of the direction the general plot is going.
--back to Quidditch, sorry, I’m rambling. The point I want to make, is that yes, in a way, there is major plot armor favoring the house and the games are rigged, sort of, by the author and in this movie. But there are rules in which make it less so. Catching the snitch doesn’t automatically make that team win. It’s worth 150 points, so if Gryffindor were already winning it would boost them up 150 and they’d win because they are ahead. If they were already losing then 150 points wouldn’t help them at all, but, catching the snitch also automatically ends the game, so it wouldn’t really matter. A team could still catch the snitch but lose the game if they aren’t winning by the time the game ends. Hope this kind of puts things in perspective in terms of winning and losing games. Did you know that Harry Potter fans have actually adapted this game on the ground and play it as a real sport? It’s actually super interesting, some people call it “ Muggle Quidditch” 😂
Honestly I don’t agree with what Dumbledore did. I mean, it’s a sweet moment when they got well rewarded points but to trick Slytherin like that and make them feel they’ve won, I would be pissed about that if the headmaster did that to my house. As much as I dislike Draco, the whole of Slytherin house didn’t deserve that, but, again, the plot favors Gryffindor and Harry needed some victory’s to make his first year fun and innocent.
It wasn't the "film producers" as such, it was the book publishers who did it first. The film just copied it because it was the sensible thing to do - from a marketing viewpoint.

I'm sure other people have said this, but Slytherins are not inherently evil. They are cunning and ambitious and as such, tend to be attracted to power. It is unfortunate that Voldemort's recent reign of power has left most Slytherins in the grip of dark ambitions...

I loved your reaction! I am a fellow slytherin myself and we indeed got robbed lol! You'll see that there's really this dichotomy between slytherin and gryffindor. JK rowling wrote this for children and I think even in the books there isn't much nuance between good and bad, at least not enough to my liking. Fans nowadays have quite a more grey image of slytherins which fits more with real life so it's totally ok to be in slytherin. as I grew up and started learning that things aren't nearly as black and white as they may seem to be when we are young, I've started to love slytherin more and more and find gryffindor the boring and overhyped version of hufflepuff. I love how slytherin approaches greatness and power in general, and yeah, sometimes that may end up not working so well, but it would happen a lot if this was the real world. I would really want to be a slytherin if ravenclaw wasn't a thing 😅
[may contain SPOILERS] As a Raven, I kind of agree. Maybe Gryffindor was entitled to win that year, but it was rather cruel to decorate the hall before final points were determined. Having Headmaster and Deputy from the same house in a world that reeks of favouritism is unfortunately showing in this. There is rivalry amongst the teachers and they have no problem using their students to fight it out. The early books were indeed rather black and white, or shall I say red and green. There is much more nuance in the later works. For instance, one of my favourite characters is Horace Slughorn, who with his hearty attitude and fine tuned conscience appreciates hard work and talent above colours. He is not interested in ideologies or people who rest on the laurels of others, as can be seen in the fact that Malfoy was never invited to his club and Belby was later uninvited for seeming indifferent to success.
Slytherins are great, it's just hard to show that during the films/books as they are set in a time when the majority of Slytherin kid's parents will have been death eaters. Also all the kids parents at the time would have seen their own school mates join Voldemort's side giving credence to the whole " theres not a witch or wizard that's gone bad that wasnt in slytherin", seeing as no one knows about worm tail at that point

While most muggles don't notice magic things (because they're too caught up in their own lives) those that do have their memory erased by the ministry.
It exists in the world but it's cloaked by magic and muggle's general ignorance.
Only first years ride the boat.
The snitch actually doesn't make you win instantly. It adds 150 points and ends the game so technically you can still lose. Catching the snitch is a strategic way to win the game. I imagine they scripted Wood to say it that way because in school-level quidditch it almost always means a win.
The quidditch announcer kid is the same actor that played Magnitude in Community.
The whole "mother's love" thing is better explained in the books. I'll let someone else provide that whole connection later in the series.

You should check out the extended version of this film. Harry gives Snape attitude in class when he’s asking questions and his family gets bugged more ways with the letters. By Hermione taking the blame for taking on the troll gave Gryffindor 5 points instead of losing at least 5 points. In Quidditch just catching the snitch doesn’t guarantee your team a win. If the other team has 300 points and your team only has 50 when you catch the snitch the other team wins cause their final score will be 300 and yours would be 200.

There's actually a fan theory that Hagrid **was** in Slytherin as a student because it would make sense that he was keeping Aragog as a baby down in the Slytherin dungeons. That's what it looks like in Tom Riddle's diary flashbacks, and we know that Tom Riddle was in Slytherin, so how else would Tom Riddle have known where to find Hargid and the "monster" he could blame everything on? Knowing Hagrid, he was probably telling other Slytherins about his pet.

Great reaction, even though I don't agree with your opinion about Dumbledore and him awarding points to the trio (and Neville) in the end 😄 It's always nice to see Slytherins react to the movies. Can't watch it unfortunately, seeing the movie twice on the screen in different positions (having it both playing in the 'background' at the top of the screen and appearing and disappearing in the lower left corner all the time) somehow gives me severe motion sickness and makes me dizzy and sick. I'm still going to try to listen to the CoS reaction and your reaction to the other sequels though😃

@@AdamfromFWCI I'm sure that is helpful for a lot of people, espcially for non-native speakers! It's just too much different movements at the same time on the screen for me personally, but you can never make it perferct for everyone. Draging down the window is a great idea though, I might try that later today! But I'm fine with just listening as well, I've seen the movies way to many times anyways and know them by heart down to every little background noise both in english and my native language, listening to a movie reaction without seeing it on the other hand is a whole new experience for me 😄

A few days before I did this reaction, a person at work suggested I do the Pottermore/Wizarding World quiz to see what house I got. I got Slytherin, I didnt really know what that meant, but I immediately made a joke that the other houses were garbage and Slytherin is the best. My friend laughed and said "Thats the most Slytherin thing you could have said"...
That comment made me realize that this could be a LOT of fun to lean towards that house (even though I had no idea what it means)
You'll see in my reaction Prisoner of Azkaban or Goblet of Fire I think, I start getting VERY nervous with how uncomfortable the whole Pure Blood thing sounds lol

even tho JK was still writing the books while the movies where made. she only told Allen his character story arc, motivations and his secrets. so he could get what was up with the character of Snape. so he could act as such form the start . and nether of them let it out of the bag until the wrap up of the last movie. and because of it made the movies even more enjoyable.

Actually most of the things Slytherin did in the Quidditch game got them penalties in the book because they were illegal. Slytherin cheats.
Snape is a lot more unpleasant in the books.
There's a reason why Harry has to live with the Dursleys until he becomes an adult at 17 (wizard laws) but the movies never go into it.

i regard movie snape and book snape as different characters tbh. i don’t think jk knew what she was going to do with his character when she wrote him in the beginning, but alan rickman knew it when he started playing him, so he played snape according to how HE thought he should be bc he knew the ending when no one else (besides jk) did. book snape is a really just a bully with a hail mary redemption arc thrown in, movie snape is a multifaceted and complex character

Slytherin had been winning the house points for like 7 years in a row. Dumbledore hage them the points because they stopped Voldemort so it was well deserved

Ok, I never understood why Harry would bring his letter into the kitchen? I mean, he literally walked past his cupboard and could have tossed it in. Lol
Why did Hermione lie about the troll? Earlier on, she had tried to stop them sneaking out at night, and finding herself stuck outside as well, declared that if they get caught, she will tell the truth - she was trying to stop them - and expected them to back her up. This is why she has no friends: she's a goodie two-shoes and a snitch to boot.
Finding herself desperately lonely, and having just had her life saved, she chose to pull the Uno reverse card on herself by way of apology, getting herself into trouble to get H and R out of it. It works: she becomes their friend.
Hermione is a snitch? That's strange, considering she never snitches on anyone in the ENTIRE SERIES.
@@vinchinzo594 I know. The filmmakers changed her character quite a bit from the books. She does it again in PoA when Harry gets the Firebolt for Christmas. She suspects that Sirius sent it (which he did, of course, but this was before the big reveal) and she goes to McGonagall about it.
McGonagall confiscates it so that it can be checked for hexes, and Harry and Ron are both furious with her. As far as they are concerned, there was nothing wrong with the broom now, but what sort of state would it be in after the teachers had finished with it? :-)

Harry and Ron view Hermione's action as a betrayal, and they don't talk to her for weeks because of it. She is, in their eyes, a snitch. Deep down, they know she was doing the right thing, but that doesn't prevent them from being angry.
Their view is only compounded when she threatens to tell on Harry for sneaking into Hogsmeade. They take this threat seriously, going so far as to stage the pretense that he's not going to go in order to throw her off. None of this is in the movies.
If you think I'm "stretching to prove a point" then why don't you tell me what Hermione's motivation was for lying about the troll?

edit: about quidditch, grabbing the snitch ends the game and provides you 150 instantly, but if you're 160 points behind you would still lose. I'm pretty sure this happens in one famous in-universe game that they talk about in "quidditch throughout the ages" or whatever that spin-off book about quidditch is called, or they even mention this somewhere along the main series, can't remember 100%

You are totally getting me through some tough work days!! I LOVE your take on Snape (he was really my favorite character as well as I just loved Alan Rickman's performance at all times!) I have already seen your reaction to the last film so I am backtracking now but definitely hit the feels for me. I was always wondering why you had Snape in your intro video and now I know the whole story, it makes me tear up knowing what we all know about Snape now! What courage it took for him to kill your least favorite guy! Anyhow, thanks for the great entertainment! In hindsight I'm even more glad I reacted to this series the way I did. Alan Rickman is just amazing in everything, I was so drawn to his performance immediately, the sign of a truly great performer.

I don't know if anyone said this but if you catch the snitch it's not 100% that your team wins, basically if you catch the snitch the game ends there and you get 150 points which means you can catch the snitch but you can lose the game, imagine if you have 10 points and the other team has 170 points if you catch the snitch your team has 160 points which means the other team wins the game. The other thing is that the game is only over if the snitch is caught so the game can end up being hours, days, weeks, months...

Agreed. You can't really call Dumbledore out for being crooked and not Snape. Snape hated everyone in Gryffindor, took points away from Hermione regularly for existing, and attempted to kill Neville's toad. I assume FWCI is just playing a part. Otherwise it would just be double standard

while others do alot of buttkissing. I am just gonna be honest ok. There is a reason Dumbledore gave extra points because they each almost died tryng to exxpose of Quirrel. If you dont understand Harry Potter books or movies since your new. HEre is a early n book knowledge about your Slytherin. They cheat, basically SNape deducts points from Harry and Gryiffindors for no reason. They mostly Snape reward Slytherin points for no reason. There is a reason you and others here are in that house. Slytheriins are known to be greedy, selfish and would rather save their own necks then to help others.
They get free points so that is why they win each year. The other houses reward points fairly. Snape and many never like to lose so they randomly deduct points for no reason. 5 POints from Gryfindor for cheek. He was bullying HArry and deducts points from his house because he was bullying him. He also knocks potions over or is so harsh to him and Neville they will unlikely ever even get a Dreadful grade which would earn a little higher if not for S nape. You feel DUmbledore cheated. Actually To be honest Snape and Slytherins cheat by robbing points f rom others and or reward points to Syltherin for no reason.
Harry Ron and HErmione risked their life that sould act as a loyality to the school. But not by your guys standards no wonder your in Slytherin.

If your just gonna hate it and hate the good characters, and just support syltherin and just think everyone cheats and is bad because of some reason. That isnt true. Just love the Slytherins then i basically know your every reaction you make is just gonna love Syltherin and voldermort only. I rather watch someone that is a little more on the side of wanting good to prevail, and really understands what really s happening in the movies tho the books Tell alot more. So e vne if you see them all 80% of the movies all together is tellng you lies, and or added trash and screwing up most of the good reality that the books had. Only say around 30-40% of all movies together tells things correctly. So with a evil biased mentality i already know know what yo ur gonna say in each reaction, and exactly who you support to win.
