  • Before you go on your next job interview, create a plan for job. Create a plan that talks about how you will do that job. How will you succeed in that role. What will you do, specifically? Show employers that you are thinking ahead about this position and that you are ready and willing to give it your all and do your best, and here is how you are going to do it... Most job seekers don't have a plan and they get passed over. But when you can show an employer that you have ideas, everything changes for the better for you.

You should have some idea how you're going to do this job before you even show up. I mean, you've got a copy of the job description. You know what they're looking for. So, you should have some idea how you're going to do this job based on your past experience.
Most people when they go into an interview, they have very little idea how they're going to do that job. They're hoping that they can just get it and then they'll show up and then they'll figure it out afterwards. Well, employers are a little bit smarter than that and they want to know if you're going to be able to do this job before they hire you. I mean, that makes sense; right? I mean, they're going to pay a lot of money to do this job. They want to make sure that you're going to be able to do it.

I actually had a candidate create a "job plan" and present it during his interview last week and I was really impressed by his thoughtfulness and enthusiasm. It definitely made him stand out and I'm actually leaning towards offering him the job! :)

I applied to 2 postings last week and got called to both for interviews this week. I aced both. interviews but when I came upon this amazing video, I clicked on it to watch just out of curiosity and I am GLAD I did because I expect to go to more interviews. I just had an interview that was scheduled 2 hours and took 3 hours. I know that’s a good sign. But what it feels like is I studied for a week and took a 3 hour test. I didn’t realize how tiring it could be when one is intent of getting a job.

Thank you. I always think it's good to be prepared. I'm comfortable with giving recommendations and advising them. I had a second interview and reviewed all the companies reports. I may have over did it. I reviewed a document for my interview tomorrow and while it's online I'll still present what I did and see their thoughts.
Exactly. I think viewing it as a consultant helps. This mindset works best for me and my brain. I have a hard time with preparing for unknown questions.

Hey Don, I basically never comment on CZcams but I really wanted to thank you. I watched a lot of your videos, but this one in particular I think helped me land a really great opportunity. The interviewers opened my second interview with "what do you envision for this role?" and I was able to relay my plan to them with no hesitation. They were super impressed and loved my initiative. Thanks again for making these resources - they are SO good!!

The goal of thinking is thought, to produce a paradigm that solves real-life problems in the natural world. The worst problems are human-made. Understanding the human being or human nature is crucial to survival in a world where few think, most emote. To succeed in life one must know and understand games. Humans are addicted to games. Some are slaves or shills. Few can lead. When wise appear dumb.

Thank you for your wonderful videos.
I think planning for next job interview is a great advantage for an individual with work experience. On the other hand, what can an entry-level job seeker "like me" do to have a similar advantage since the company for sure has more experience than me?

Don, what if your next scheduled job interview happens to be with a manager that you have previously worked with years ago (unfortunately), I was one of his indirect report employee then but I didn’t quite established good rapport with him due to his lack of interpersonal skills in the office. Now, this position that I’m applying for will be reporting to him. Should I even bother going?
