ok thanks
Awesome and Honest review... just what I was looking for. Thank you! :)
I've generally found Hori to be a solid brand who makes good officially licensed accessories. Thanks for the review. Fair and balanced.
Glad to see yours work, mine was busted right out of the box, was really disappointed because Hori usually makes great stuff.
Thats unfortunate! Hope you get that resolved, im very happy with this controller more so that ive been using it a lot!
I bought 2 of them and also bought 2 13ft extension cables. Thay way, I'll just use the extensions for SFII and use the wireless controllers for everything else. I will say, I've seen reviews on other sites (reddit, etc.) where people said they had issues too. I get mine in next week, so I guess I'll see.
Thanks for the input, I'm check out the 8bit controller tho
Just found today 6-11-21 for 7.99 at Ross. Can’t lose! Happy camper here.
Same, just found two of em today for 6.99. Packaging was a little ripped up but I checked to see if everything was there. Good deal!
I couldn't decide between this controller and the Nyko Mini Boss, so I went with Hori due to the "official" sticker that Nintendo slaps on their stuff. And so far it's been great, the DPad feels great as well as the buttons, haven't had any lag issues either.
The b-y-a-x buttons on the Hori are not exactly the same way aligned as the original SNES controller. That's my main concern with the Hori at the moment.
I bought the mini boss. It doesn’t even sync.
thos used to exist for the original SNES/SFC (wired), but there's one difference, I'm really surprised the new wireless ones feature L&R trigger button ! those don't exist in the original version of the snes/sfc hori fighting commander! cool vid
I completely adopted this controler for my super nes mini and like I doesn't like the design of the console with the two dongles on the front I mod my console my two dongles are now on the machine, thanks to thie verry smart conception of the Hori dongles (I think they think about that whan they design the dongles (only people who have already open them can undestand what I would like to say ^^.)
At the origine I hesitate between 8bitdo and Hori controler but I defintively happy to have make the good choice.
1st the 6 action boutons on the front are so cool for fighting games.
2nd the AA battery cause if I hate something with wireless things it's when you whant play you have dead battery here no problem just to keep 2 AA rechargeable battery ready to go. And more battery life semms to be verry good after one week of daily gaming I haven't recharge them.
3th the historycal look cause back in the days the Hori fighting commander was THE snes controler and now with this reisue it's possible to revive this absolute amazing gaming experience ^^.
I make this mod one week ago and for now absolutely no problem and I realy thinking about bought me one third for mod it on an arcade stick but I need found all material for make this little experience ^^.
I can’t wait to get that Bad Boy!
If you plug the dongle into a Wii mote, will the controller then work for the Wii?
The turbo buttons are great for Mortal Kombat when playing the TEST YOUR MIGHT challenges. Too bad Mortal Kombat it ain't on these classic consoles.
Just found two of these at Ross Dress for Less for 6.99 USD. Thanks for selling me on em!
Awesome! Thank you sir, does anyone by chance know if these are Bluetooth or 2.4GHZ. I was really hoping 2.4 GHz so I was waiting for the 8bitdo but I would love a 6 button layout
sounds cool. I guess the d-pad can get worked in over time. I am wondering anyone who has one with a pi or computer. Can you set each button as there own button or is the extra buttons on the side same as l and r? is there a off and on button on the controller?
looks just like the Hori 6 button controller for the TurboGrafx 16. Cool video.
Yep, theys been making these since the early 90'2. In the US I dont think we got the SNES version back then though
Is it Hori-ble?
What happens if you drop the dongle on a ceramic floor will it get damage
Is this able to sync to the 8bitdo retro receiver? Was thinking about buying one to use with the super gameboy as it's a similar layout to the controller.
Does anyone know if this works with a wii/wii u?
Solid review stand by your thoughts Your Thoughts, l give you Respect!
I bought one brand new past month for just 10 bucks, and every problem that others have found I experienced whit mine, the d-pad was mediocre and it looses inputs frequently. Very sad, I wanted it for my Wii, but had to return it, luckily enough a week later I scored an SNES Classic in nice condition in box for 50 dollars, so now I have the controllers that I wanted
hello good evening, I have a question how to connect or do I connect the receiver with the controller? that does not stop flashing I can not play with it please ask for help
Dr. Poi Try dipping your controller in Refried Beans.
might try an 8bit just for comparison but for 24.99 this has been great so far.
Straight up, this is the ASCIIware controller from back in the day, same adjustable turbo buttons and everything. For a 3rd party controller, that one was the most legit, though it didnt have that Genesis layout, at least mine didnt. It also had funky start/selet and a different D-pad, but otherwise was solid..Great for games like Phalanx.
Also, when I first threw SF2 Turbo back up I couldn't throw any moves down at all...and then I realized my tv was set to optimal mode, and not game mode. Set the tv to game mode, and I was back to shoryukens and tiger knees.
Yeah thats rite, forgot about the ASCIIware, was a pretty cool controller back in the day! Hori has been making these commander controllers since before the Ascii pad. The Super Hori Commander and the Mega Commander were released before the ASCII Pad was released. But Japan only I believe, where as the ASCII was in the US.
I think Hori also made the six button controller for SF2: CE on the pc engine..
I'm flip flopping, about getting this, looks cool! But I half of me thinks, "why would you want this when you have the 8bitdo ones" eh... I might cause I want to give my honest opinion about it. Like my own final verdict.
Does it work with emulators on an android box?
@madlittlepixel I am sorry but do you have a video where you hacked your NES classic mini like that, I mean super nes covers and games on the menu? If you have that video can you paste the link ?
Thanks !
IMO, they choose using double A battery is a good idea. Built in rechargeable tend to die in a couple years.
I rather use rechargeable double A instead.
I prefer wired and would love this controller if it was wired.
It would also remove that bulge for the batteries.
How do i connect it?
I got it but haven't tried it yet, got it for $25 but i see the price is going up to 58+
If you test another controller on this game play in 2 player mode then you can more easily test it
The D-pad is terrible.. Your review gave me hope for it. But I have been playing with it for an hour and now I am super frustrated with it. Where as the 8bitdo fc30 kicks arse for me. I nail all my moves with ease with the 8bitdo. I think you might have got lucky with yours, and there is probably some quality control issues with these controllers.. my dpad clicks ffs.
Same here, I think you are right; it is a QA issue.
Hori controllers are fantastic
Do u need a Nintendo console? Or does this come with games?
What's the Wireless connection, Infrared or Bluetooth? I'm wondering if this will work with my Raspberry Pie
I saw this controller at GameStop 24.99
louis caez I just got it
I can get by with an extension cord until 8bitdo gets production models on amazon.
8bitdo is better
I can't get mine to pair, the LED on the receiver just blinks and so does my controller. I've tried removing the batteries and disconnecting the receiver a couple of times -- anyone else run into this issue? Help!!
same here. i put battery in. then receiver in. nothing.
The way I got mine to work was by pressing Select and the Start buttons at the same time. Hope this helps you out.
CrewMugiwara -- a ding-dang-doo, I just returned it. Would you say it's worth buying again?
Does it work on switch
It works on Wii?
I want a wireless for my classics.
is this thing blue tooth. WIll it work with the 8-bitdo receiver?
Deltax5 Not bluetooth will only work with its own receiver.
is there a receiver that I can use this controller with the real snes?
can't you stick it in a wii controller then use the receaver. I think the 8-bitdo supports the wii controller. but wouldn't 2 wireless frequency make it lag a bit?
Yo, I left one of the reviews on Amazon. I’m really surprised you didn’t seem to have an issue. I love Hori stuff but was so disappointed. Only difference I can think of between us is you’re using a hacked nes classic whereas I was using the snes classic. If and when you get the snes classic can you do another review?
I have had the SNES Classic since Wednesday. Ive used it on the SNES classic rite after filming. Had exact same performance. No issues on my end. I honestly was ready to tell people screw this controller. But I had a good experience with it.
czcams.com/video/mAwBDS-Hww0/video.html
That’s crazy then. I tried it again just now to ensure I wasn’t losing my marbles and averaged 15% fireballs but wired was 90% at least. I wonder if there are different versions from different factories in China. I almost want to take out the screws and look at it’s guts.
Im curious as well. Maybe some are fitted with a different pad under the directional pad? I was very honest with my review of this and feel its a good but not perfect controller. My performance is definitely better with the original controller, the dpad is for sure slightly more stiff on the Hori for me but not so much so as to not being usable. Im just unsure with the diagonal input issues people have reported as im not having those problems.
I took it apart and took some snaps. If you want them tell me where to send them.
does this work on the nes mini too?
Can it use on PC?
Seems like a sneaky sega thing. Lol
Virgil Kellogg
What do you mean? This controller originally released for the original snes, same name, same company, same design. It was made for the street fighter mortal kombat craze.
Any lag?
miklo247 nothing noticeable for me.
7.5 on the d
Lol
Where did you get that from
Local Gamestop, well two city's away. Wasnt available close to me and my amazon order was delayed.
Ok thank you what they cost at the store
Brandon Cross 25$
It needs a home button. I'll keep using the Wii classic pad till they figure this out.
So this is the closest thing to a Sega Saturn pad? Lol
Hey Madlittle I like your content, but this controller D-pad is garbage. You said you aren't having an issue but you can barely perform the moves. LOL
Test her out? you are strange
Polka Naut Thank you!
I really don't understand where all these astoundingly negative reviews are coming from on Amazon and honestly........why? All of these unverified reviews. What is people's problem.
One of the commenters on this video was one of the negative reviews on Amazon. We discussed it and he wound up trouble shooting in a sense and opened his up, after putting it back together he states it works great. So it may be possible there were some units shipped that the contact pad under the dpad may have misaligned?
Mine come next week, but I'd assume they are to get people to cancel or return?
Johnny Brasco If you got from Amazon and it doesnt meet your expectations return it as defective so you dont pay return shipping. I love mine, no issues.
Blocked
I had high expectations for this controller, but after reading all the bad reviews I've canceled my order.
I bought this controller a month ago for 17 bucks and I see what they mean. The range of this controller isn't that good, it cause the controllers to fill laggy due to drop signals. Fighting moves needs to be finessed a little bit more to be pulled off. Besides that it's not a terrible controller. It is really good for Contra 3 for double crush guns when you set the X button to Turbo hold.
This controller is too lagy
This is the WORST controller I have ever used in 30+ years of gaming! Avoid it at all costs. It makes the 3DO pad a joy to use, I mean atleast that registers a diagonal input and doesent cut out every 5 seconds. Stick with the originals. Hori stuff is usually so good, What the hell went wrong?
This controller does have a bit of input lag and its anoying :(
Please stop saying "badboy" so much...
Papa Vader that is like his Trademark! 😂
Jason Johnston i cant even find where i said it in this video though lol! Maybe im deaf to it?
sorry but its 50 $ for a controller, lol
C_cat Videogames they are $25 each
oh, i found it on a website for 50$
nice video though
C_cat Videogames thats ridiculous, lol double the price no thanks
lol
This controller is so stupidly made it makes me sick
1st of all why are the l and r buttons the same on the shoulders?
u cant map them for something else.
2nd why is there no bluetooth but a shitty dongle when its sold as "multiplatform"?
this piece of junk goes right into the garbage elektronicks box.
Hori is not a good company in my opinion
Nintendo sucks
You don’t seem to know why the controller buttons are colors as they are.
Christopher what do you mean? They are based off the Super Famicon/European SNES color scheme. Hori is Japan based so most the time they stick to Japanese styles.
