Pioneer MVH-Z5050BT Mazda 6 MPS (MazdaSpeed 6) install

- Part 2 of the Pioneer MVH-Z5050BT install. In this video we will be installing the unit into a Mazda 6 MPS (non Bose) while retaining full functionality of steering wheel controls and air conditioning controls.
This does require some extra parts to retain full functionality, namely a new dash piece. This is due to Mazda using the CAN bus to communicate between the air con, stereo and upper display. But you will reuse the original aircon controls and middle vents.
You will also require a 3.5mm audio jack with lead, you could cut one off an old pair of headphones but make sure to keep the length fairly short as these usually have the thinnest of wires so they may not work over a longer length. Otherwise hit up your local electronics store.
Wires from the CARAV-11-106 dash piece
White/black stripe = FL Neg
White = FL Pos
Grey/black stripe= FR Neg
Grey = FR Pos
Purple = RR Neg
Purple/black stripe = RR Pos
Green/black stripe = RL Neg
Green = RL Pos
Blue/white stripe = Ext amp (not used)
Yellow = 12V Constant (Battery)
Red = Accessories (Ignition)
Orange/white stripe = ???
Black = Ground
Orange = Illumination
Wires to splice onto the car side harness when viewed front on
Top right under the center tab = 3.5mm SWC black
Next wire directly to the left of above = 3.5mm SWC red
Note the White wire from the steering wheel control is unused
Coming up in part 3 we will do a review of this Android Auto and Apple Carplay unit.

You just saved me a fortune & a lot of time & effort with this video - thanks! I bought what it turns out was the same kit as you to fit a far less impressive bluetooth capable head unit than yours, mainly because the hazard warning button on my stock audio panel had failed & if I had to strip it down to try to replace the microswitch I might as well fit a more modern sound system. All good, except I had no instructions & also have climate control. I'd worked almost everything out for myself & had resigned myself to throwing the little daughter board for the aircon away & trying to get 'the right one for the climate control version', & it was while I was looking for a part number for this non-existent board that I found your video & you gave me the hint that the back comes of the climate module to give enough clearance for the daughter board. In the nick of time I retrieved it from the gash bin & I've just put it all back in to the car, fully working.

Hey guys, IT WORKS!!!! I followed the link and ordered a fascia kit. The seller said it wont work, but I took a punt anyway and it works perfectly. Btw, fyi, I have the 2006 series 2, Mazda 6 sports luxury model. 👌👌👌👌👌
How did you get the display of the car working with fascia? It works few minutes and stops showing some functions of the display. Some kind of bad connection maybe.

question. the carav 11-106 states its for manual ac only but u use it with automatic? so i does work with automatic airco?

What component/coupling controls the on-board computer? Because mine doesn't work at all after I installed that same kit as yours..
How did you get the steering wheel controls? Did you figure out how to change the display
Hey bud great video, have you had any issues without the Bose translator?. I installed one into my GG and have found the drivers side door speaker is not pushing sound out yet still is getting power. Thinking about removing it to see how it go's
Haven't had any issues with mine, I would pull it out and double check everything

Sup ik its not actual, but i have bought other brand headunit but i have mazda 6 2004 2.3 (not mps) and it got separate connector for the top display, the headunit doesnt have the plug for it, what do i do?

Just curious on couple things 1 did the unit come with stereo brackets and 2 does it fit slandered double din stereo I bought a different facia and didn't have brackets and was made for 9 inch decks
I *think* it came with brackets but it was a long time ago. And yes it fits a standard double din

From memory it came with the fascia.
Ok thanks would you have a link to your purchase? Finding it very hard to find one .. nearly all of the facia kits come with the manual ac canbus .. the plug is way too big 😢

Nice video. I followed the links to go buy the fascia but the bloke at the other end says its only suitable for MANUAL AC controls. I showed him a photo of my fascia which is identical to yours and he basically said its not compatible. Any ideas? Seems nearly all of them wont work unless you have a MANUAL AC control. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
I faced the same issue, but I figured it was worth a shot and it works. It was a bit tricky to install - hence the video, but once it was in the only issue is the display above the fascia does some weird shit when you turn the ignition from on back to accessories. But everything still works as it should to this day. Obviously I can't guarantee you will have the same success but there's only one way to find out

Heya, I know this is an old video but I have a 2006 GG, and I’ve installed my new head unit but the speakers won’t go…I’ve got everything wired up correctly. Would you know what could be causing the speakers not to go?
Do you have the Bose stereo model? There was someone else recently who was having the same issue with theirs. I dont know the answer for the Bose models sorry

I just put my new android stereo in and everything works but the audio. I have zero audio on anything. What am I missing? It had the bose stereo stock
No idea on the Bose model sorry. I think they also use a separate amp for the speakers but I could be completely wrong

What surround is that and where did you get it from?

remove the original radio for a conventional one and the horns cannot be heard from the original harness, do you know why?. do you need canbus for the speakers to be heard?
Not sure about the Bose equipped Mazda's but on mine the tweeters work just fine. I assume they have a passive crossover either in the doors or behind the tweeters somewhere. But the Bose ones may be different

Possibly, I believe the layout is similar if not the same. Only I cannot be sure if the connections for the AC are the same

That is odd, I can see them. Out of curiosity, is it only this video that you can't see the description?
Anyway, I guess this is the info you are after:
Wiring from the control box:
Red = 12v accessories
Black = ground
Key1 = red on 3.5mm plug
Key2 = black/white on 3.5mm plug
You may need to swap key1 and key2 wires if it doesn't work.

Hi, I just installed a different unit into my 2005 GG. I can get the steering wheel controls to work when the key is turned on one click but when I turn the key to the 2nd click and start it, it’s like the skip button engages and causes the music to auto skip and the radio to change channels by itself. It’s weird.
My unit doesn’t have a 3.5mm jack for controls like urs but it does have a 2 wire into a plug.
Any ideas ?

Other than that it’s not a bad unit actually. I picked mine up for $180aud so can’t complain.
