  • Cycling the world - Europe: 154 episode
    In the fourth episode of my journey across Algeria, I leave Algiers after a short break and start crossing the Tell Atlas mountain range on my way to the desert. After a quick stop at a pastry shop for some delicious treats, I tackle steep climbs and navigate dirt roads with stunning views and little traffic. Camping in a field, I endure a cold, humid night with temperatures dropping to 3 degrees. The next day, I cross the Tell Atlas again, climbing steep passes before reaching rolling hills. A warm bean soup at a local restaurant provides a welcome break from the cold wind. As I head towards Bou Saada, the door to the desert, I experience a near collision with a van that ignored a stop sign, highlighting the challenges of cycling in Algeria. Join me for this thrilling episode filled with breathtaking landscapes, unexpected encounters, and the road to the desert.

    I’m Algerian the problem of trash is both the people and government responsibility because
    Some People are not educated and just don’t respect the environment
    And the government doesn’t put trash cans everywhere in the country which is a BIG problem people simply don’t find where to throw their trash
    Also the country is just gigantic and huge the 10 th biggest in the world and the biggest in Africa so we need more organizations to educate people and to protect the environment

    The houses still under construction are those built in private property by the house owners themselves. Since it's very expensive to build a house from the ground up that is anti-earthquake, and most people have to work and save up first and then build, it takes a long time for a lot people who don't have a high income. Bank loans require a lot of papers that majority of people don't have so you find a lot of houses like this scattered around the country.. you'll find them mostly in areas where the lands are private property to the people.. they're a problem to be honest, there should be solutions made to have them finished in a reasonable time frame...

    • @DavideTravelli
      @DavideTravelli  Před měsícem +7

      I understand this. Unfortunately I wasnt able to finish my thought because of the bees but what I wanted to say it's that since there are so many houses being build around the country I think the economy of Algeria is doing well. Usually in a country the better the economy the more properties being constructed.

    • @hadia254
      @hadia254 Před měsícem +1

      @@DavideTravelli yes, I think the economy is getting much better now than before 2019. A lot more opportunities are available for people, but building a house is like a lifetime investment for most of the people, the owner would have to work a minimum of 10 years before they can start the building process, and a lot of these houses take around 2 to 3 years for well off people and over a decade to finish for medium income people and more for lesser income people. They take too long and need a better strategy to have them finished at a more reasonable time, I guess the benefit here is that the house is yours and you'll be free of any kind of debt, and the taxes on houses are relatively microscopic lol .. i won't deny that it is getting better on the ground for our country little by little, a bit slower than it should sometimes 😅 but we're getting there..

      I dont think there is a "final" solution per se, each and every one of us has to try to do best. For example the habit of when you buy anything it's put in a plastic bag, even a when you buy something very small or a can of coke that you consume immediately. So many times I was like..why would I need a bag for a can of coke I'm gonna drink right now. The waste management is a problem in each and every country.

      It's a global problem not just Algerian but people could start not to take trash in prestine nature. Also shops should stop putting everything into little plastic black bags that the wind takes everywhere. But easy for me to say!

    When they asked about your route, it was just to check on you and help you direct
    Here in Algeria, they are competing for help and goodness. This is the nature of Algeria. They love to help, that is why they stop you everywhere, and do not forget that you have an Algerian appearance... until you speak.
