We loved every second of this. All we wanted to do is have fun and put on a show. A massive thank you for featuring our Little Brown Cortina on Hoonigan.
If u actually went into the rules and regulations in drag racing a por street car is way different than a promods last time I checked that's an actual body on that car
The Capri runs in a class called street eliminator. Where they have to run any form of fuel we get at a uk fuel station, run a regulated tyre, no wheelie bars, and have to be fully street legal. Part of qualifying for the class is a street drive each event. Before the new regulation tyre came in we had 2 cars in the 6s range and multiple capable of it. However they now run a smaller tyre
@@jdgarrison9913 He's running a very low gear in the rear end, This is why the car wheelies so hard and has such a good rollout and first half, perhaps a 4th gear and some NOS would help ;).
@@naufalkusumah2192 Oh, I get it. I'm just pointing out the absurdity. That the Cortina is ridiculously fast, and yet the Capri is just THAT much more absurd.
The Cortina is a weapon.. My very first car in 1989 was a 1980 Cortina 2L… I bloody loved that car, 2L pinto, janspeed 4 branch exhaust, cheap pancake air filter, XR4i alloys, and all sprayed in grey primer with blacked out lights.. I even remember the reg plate, NLF 713V You just have to imagine it, honestly…in 1990 it looked the nuts 😂😂
Both cars are beyond amazing in their own right, that wheelie is disgusting and the fact that the capri goes around it like it was barely on throttle is wild to see. Props to both drivers!
Love it, my first car was an Americanized (1976 Mercury) of this generation of Capri. With the 2.3 Pinto 4-cylinder, in my dreams it was a fast as the one you have here! :D
I think he actually just barely tapped the drone on that last shot with the wheelie! That's fucking nuts man, what a driver and what a car. As someone else mentioned already in this comment section, it'd be dope to see Mat Watson make a cameo appearance since he is so well known for his cray drag races, even though his are on a no-prep runway.
Still remember the Capri when Antony had it ( the stereo was immense 🤣 ) in the early nineties. It had a different colour every few months too. That car has a lot of memories and love from all who have known it for many years 👍😍
Hoonigan's had a drag racing show for a bajillion seasons and the hosts still don't know what a "big tire" is. I also find it funny the hosts always ask about the wheels/tires on the front of RWD drag cars. The drivers are always like...uh... it's got wheels and tires on the front.
Been into Drag Racing over 30 years and this is up my steet, big V8s and RWD. To me this is Drag Racing. Both cars are awesome but that Cortina with a wheelie is sick, I have Capri do a tripple wheelie in the past.
You guys should host a season here in South Africa at tarlton Raceway. Hopefully to feature the world's fastest BMW and some other world records that we have
Big Block V8 vs a 350 V8. Wicked. Awesome. But with the Ford Capri instead of turbos, I would of put a Super Charger instead. Get the Power Straight of the Line.🔥😎👍💯
@@RianfitnessI have but this much of a difference in weight won’t matter when you’re making over 1200hp more than them. Could’ve had a more balanced race
@@dog210christian look at the finish. It was still a close race. When your front end is lifting off the start and your front tires don’t come close to the ground I don’t think your issue is you need more power. Weight distribution is much more of an issue. If the car was more dialed in it would’ve been a much closer race.
Two good cars. I'm glad his car didn't slam the ground. He got it set up good. The white one has torque for days. Damn. We did get any time you guys were running. Till next time guys. Peace!
Considering some of the monsters they have down in Australia I’d never would’ve thought the British were better at drag racing. Then again prepped track vs airplane strip does make a difference.
Curious, but would you have to disassemble the rear links to drop the rear end enough to change the rear tires on cars that have giant slicks tucked into the body?
If the rear shocks don't have enough travel in them, then yes. Otherwise, you unbolt the shocks. Went through this myself back in the early 00's, 74' Vega that hade 33x15 slicks on it. There might be more sophisticated solutions now, but that's how I delt with it.

The cortina gives me steve green cortina vibes (might need to look him up) at the pod in the 80's Wheels up (not as high as this one ) and gone on a wild ride.
I've got a lot to say about the style of this channel now, the hosts...the cars... Just can't be arsed typing it because I'm high, but I fucking love it 👌👌

yea that thing is sick
Love the Cortina....best run I have seen in a while now . Epic
Great Car. 🤗
You should be very proud of the show you put on. It was epic!
A 1300 hp difference… this one was a stretch boys. That capri is a whole Pro Mod car 🤣
Yeah the turbos were as big as the other guys rims
Up next a Lamborghini vs a prius 😂😂

I'm hope that 614 HP was a typeo, because that Cortina was moving....😅
The Capri doesn't even hook until it's halfway down the strip and still wins. lol
It's insane. I mean, the Cortina is running a 9.2, at 156mph. It's fast as fuck. And it's still not even close.

that wheelie INSANE af
That side view, with the drone inches away, should be a poster! Thats gangster!
Miss the old hoonigan days and content , but the wheelies put a smile on my face!
Yeah this channel is a shell of it's old self so sad.
When you wheelie like that, you gotta keep your eyes on the north star and stay in it.
Thats when your thinking im ither gunna meet jesus or a checked flag
As Jay said, lost the race but won the internet 💯, wheelies were absolutely insane! ♥
Capri is a monster but the Cortina is absolutelly wild! Congrats for keeping the wheel under control, Michael!! 😅
Thank you ! We had such a fun day with Hoonigan. A Wheelie good day 😅
That cortina driver, proper mad lad.😂 sick car.
Thank you. I'll take that as a compliment 😅
I think you forgot a 1 before that "614hp" lol

You better have Matt Watson on or this isn’t a proper trip to the UK. I NEED TO HEAR I’M MATT WATSON AND THIS IS HOONIGAN
I second this

Old Ginger has balls of steel for staying in it while flying high. I'm loving this this UK series as I grew up with these cars in New Zealand
7:52 smoothest segue ever. Good going, Gary!!! 😎
He doesn't need a wheelie bar he has a back bumper it works just fine 😂😂😂😂
These are some properly sorted cars and very talented drivers. One of the best episodes in awhile.
Yessss so good to see the Spottedmotors boys get the limelight they deserve

Appreciate the comments. Thank you 😊
Had 3 lots of really bad news! This is perfect timing! Thank y'all!
Me when I poop pee and fart at once
I love how you can see the exact moment the Capri comes into boost because that thing is just GONEEEE
Listening to Gary is like watching that rally race where the car dissappears into the bush but somehow ends up back on track.
What a killer drone shot of that wheelie, so cool! Also really cool to see these UK builds. Love seeing these lesser-seen (in the U.S.) cars
Well done spottedmotors, proud of you both for all your hard work , love watching your spottedmotors youtube channel.
Thanks so much.. we love what we do and just try to have as much fun as we can. 😊

Hahahaha love this comment 😂
Thank you Hoonigan for this series. Motorsports don't get the recognition they deserve in the UK, compared to the US

Cortina never had a chance, but the wheely was epic
Yer we thought that when we seen his Turbos so thought, let's just have some fun 🎉
@9:12 biggest wheelie Hoonigan has had
@9:45 “ the Cortina’s got a set of nuts on him”

614 hp, lol..........probably closer to 1614hp. You can get 614hp with just a cam on an ls engine
