since this was their last song, I have an interpretation. the 'children of the future' are new bands being born, and BP wants them to carry on their ideas. 'they're the next brain, they're the next wave. time is on their side.'
I've formulated a new view considering that they've moseyed on back into the musical scene: this song could alternatively represent the band's birth into fresh ideas while simultaneously preserving the old flavour of wordplay, focus and tone used? therefore, this piece could still operate as a sendoff of sorts, just of a different kind and breed?
I love all of their Next Wave e.p. All of the five tracks would've been worthy individual Single A- Side releases. It's a return to their peak, of Silent Alarm. Ratchet might not have been a big hit, in the charts, but it's a great, catchy song. This is also superb. Sad some of original line-up left not long after this e.p. The Group did ok with new album Hymns, not as brilliant as this, though...
Yeah, it's just not the same without Matt or Gordon. I will still support Bloc Party, but to be honest i still haven't listened to their most recent album...
Bloc Party changed my life. I would never have done the things I have had it not been for these four.
What an amazing song;) Does sound very close to Silversun Pickups~Lazy Eye, another of my favourites
Maybe they got inspired by them!? Lazy Eye become to my favorite song after hearing it. :)
Thank you..
Bloc Party, We will always love you!

A big surprise, this might be one of their best songs. Or at least one of the most emotional..
the fact that this could be their last song makes this song even sadder :'(
so beautiful
I remember hearing this for the first time and I thought it was a good bye from party. A beautiful song and such meaningful thoughts
This feels like there swan song. so sad
Listen to that wonderful guitar!
so nostalgic. thank you!

This remins me of Smashing Pumpkins.
+Nick Valensi Yeah, it really has a dreampop vibe
It's like a less spooky version of 1979.
Verse sounds like Always New Depths

fuck this might be their last song :(
It gets me every time, 4 people like that is a dream. I love Young Legionnaire but Matt's stuff isn't my thing. I like YL more than BP now
Zero Worship is one of my all time favorite albums now.
I honestly wish it were their last song but they've been "consistent" since
