As of Wednesday 7th of February 2024, this song and the entire Little Thoughts EP is finally on Spotify! Can't wait to listen on repeat! Bloc Party forever!!!
Matt Tong is one of the 25 greatest drummers to walk the earth.
agreed
agreed x2
Agree - he is a total legend
They just aren't the same without him
@@CK2008ablenever gonna be the same without Matt
i got mad respect for kele.
he's showing that black people can play a prominent role in rock music and be successful at it. being black and listening to rock is tough. but i don't care bloc party kicks ass!!
oh yeah and i was raised in brooklyn, new york. the heart of the ghetto.
Being black i'm the only one of my friends who listens to this sort of music but i love it, Bloc party hit different
I'm Jamaican 😂 (black too since Jamaican is a nationality not a race)
I've only really listened to rock music for a year or so but I really like it
I don't understand this stigma that black people don't fit in if they enjoy music outside of afrobeats & hiphop
Without african Americans inventing blues I'm not sure rock music will exist today...
I'm east african and I've listened to indie/alt rock since I was 10 or so, it's probably because I was exposed to alot of music derivative of rock on TV since I'm British...
And now I'm 25 years old I listen to literally anything these days;
Afrobeats, jazz, bossanova, salsa, ska,RnB, contemporary hiphop, dancehall, jungle, dnb, tech house, trance & occasionally classical if the piece stands out to me.
I just follow & trust my ear,
even using "genres" to describe my musical taste & sensibilities feels trivial to me
Wow, thats awesome. It's okay to break out and step out your comfort zone. And explore new things. Just remember one thing; only deal with positive people only, and after that? People that are permanently positive🎉
Unfortunately its only possible in UK. America has weird racial politics.
An Ipod from 2005 sent me here.
Yo me too
yooooooooo same bros
Ha that’s crazy me too! Old iPod, cracked screen, came across it and had listen. Instant flashbacks to my flat with my friends at uni in 2005 listening to this album as we got ready to go out. I used to think then I wished I lived as a young adult in the 70/80s but now what I would give just to even go back 15 years 🤣
I lol'd
Same (watch it late)
This is the best song that so many people still haven't heard.
Indeed!
Amazing song
Don’t worry at least we have herd it 😊
Poor old bloc party really fell from a great height
@@Josh-cn7gm alpha games is pretty good imo
Beautiful track, 2000s Bloc Party is one of the best things that ever happened to music.
Matt Tong, such a beast.
And so humble.
still worth coming back to this on jan 1st 2023 at 2:43am
I’m m other you a year later 😊
The early 2000s we're just something else.
I'm not just speaking because of nostalgia, it is that the air had a fragrance, the world sounded different.....from car engines to the slangs and language people used, to the sound of hustling leaves in the parks, to the cell phones.
Everything was good back then.
Most underrated bloc party song there is tbf
I remember watching this on MTV2 back in 2004, and I've loved Bloc Party ever since.
My burnt CD playlist from 2005 randomly popped into my head this morning, so glad it did.
this is just classic bloc party at, probably, their finest. bloc party is just kickass!
It's ridonkeyulous how many self-described Bloc Party fans don't know this song. And it's so, so good
Still remember back in ‘05, 12th grade, picking up Silent Alarm on a whim while with my friends at an electronics store. Ahh the memories. This song is eternal
Crazy
I was born in 05 and in grade 13 (year 13)
This album goes hard
i love how the drummer has the little facial expressions like at the very start, he looks so happy!
Matt Tong is probably the best drummer i've ever hear live.
with songs like this, helicopter, banquet, and skeleton how are not getting more airtime. they seriously deserve it.
SO GOOD !!! BEST BAND EVER
the nostalgia hurts
You know what's weird. On the U.S. release of the Silent Alarm CD that I bought in 2005 when it was still new, this song is on it. It quickly became my favorite song on the album and one of my favorite songs of the era, just an absolute anthem. I only just found out the other day that it's not on the UK version of the album! And that it's not even available to stream now! Utter insanity! The album absolutely feels incomplete without it. Just really feel for the newer fans who don't know this song and don't know what it does to elevate that album.
Where abouts is it in the album?
Yeah when I originally got the album on Itunes it was on there. But it's not on Spotify or on the CD here :(
Yeah it's a fab track. Kele feels embarrassed over it.
@@planetyes why's that I wonder?
@@JimPoe70 I don't know. He also says the same about the Silent Alarm album. Makes me sad because it's one of the most important pieces of music in my life.
wtf why do i always feel like i'm about to cry when i listen to this
Lol.
Nostalgia, the good old days :´(
it has that feel of "past" i dont know how to put it in the words lol
@@ActionManxTornado yeeeeeessssss
I get emotional too. I’ve known Bloc Party since 2006 and I discovered this song last year.
Summer of 2005
Why is this not on any streaming site? It breaks my heart. I love this too much
Same with two more years
@@MpanzuSolos licencing issued
It is now!
I love this song. I wish it was on spotify!! omg that pink guitar
Please Bloc, can you go back? I am asking after all! I know it is reminiscent to dwell on tracks like these, but they were so beautiful. I miss the days where the gang were together.
This album was a huge piece of the teenage puzzle for me. It was the key that opened up a whole different world of bands that I’d love for the rest of my life
Saved my life at that moment
I miss the "old" Bloc Party :/
2023 here! Still not bored of this banger!
I really like their sound. It's so clean and simple. No special effects all the time. Bloc Party is one of the greatest! Love them.
This song always makes me nostalgic, despite the fact I only first heard it a few months back. Keeps me enthusiastic for music and being in bands xx
THAT DRUMMER THO. WOW
I graduated uni June 2006 Bloc Party I miss you :)
loveeeeee the bass line
they changed so much since then, kinda miss old days
this is kickass and classic bloc party...
it's KICKLASSIC!!
I'LL GO BACK!
i still listen to this in 2021, does someone else do it as well? What an awesome Band!!!
Best song ever written, musically
17 years ago. 17 years..
I'm 18 and this song is older than me
I love the last minute
This song was everything to me in 2008. My all time favourite band! ❤
These Little Thoughts put me in a good place, much needed in 2020...
The nostalgia almost brings me to tears everytime
prime Bloc Party here, haven´t been the same since Matt and Gordon Left
Matt looks like hes having the time of his life in this video
Have been obsessed with SKeleton and Song for clay (demo) Had forgotten how AWSOMEEE this song is!!!!!!!
"ill go back if u ask, ill go back if u ask me..."
Seeing a lead singer who is black and an Asian drummer just makes this band more awesone if you ask me... There should be more bands like this! Seeing this mix got me interested in this band other than their amazing music:)
Why does it make them more awesome?
@@seemourbutts6679 because previously there were none
@@evanpoole7829 so you’re black and or Asian?
@@seemourbutts6679keep yourself safe and shut up
i don't care who's black, white, asian, indian or alien. if they can be awesome at playing an instrument/singing and create amazing music like this guys, i'm a fan.
I'm the only one that is missing Bloc Party? Or I'm getting old.... ?
I miss THIS Bloc Party. The one with long-haired speechless Russell, the no beard Gordon, the long haired complicated drum rhythm Matt, and when Kele had this hair
That too
You are not alone. Bloc Party now. Bloc Party forever.
Finnbar Frank Jain I miss them too. They were truly a new wonder for me. Also, thank you for reminding me of their old personalities lol I forgot Russell never ever talked. Damn, good old days.
I do enjoy Kele's solo stuff though. But do I miss the angular-riffs of Bloc Party.. :(
I watched Bloc Party at The Night & Day, Manchester 2004. This was my favourite song by them at the time, when they played this I went f**kin mental. Met guitarist Russel Lissack after the gig who was a nice guy and down to earth. Signed my ticket. Some mad random bands came out of the UK in the mid 2000's...even though my era was the late 80's & 90's the mid 2000's was great for music. Some bad stuff but plenty of good also.
I’m not as old as everyone else in this comment section, but I’ve been listening to Bloc Party for a good 2 years. Tbh I really miss their old style or albums like Weekend and Silent Alarm. Makes me kinda sad I wasn’t there to enjoy it sooner. I’m in high school at the moment and their music really do help me get through tough times. ❤️
Awesome! They are an amazing. I’m in 30s I remember when silent alarm came out… just was so brilliant but it still sounds unique and fresh today. Good to hear people still discovering them! Make sure to listen to cool music when young. Something happens when you’re older they stick in your mind from teens and 20’s trust me. Then when older it brings back so much emotion. Check out Taking back Sunday and Motion city soundtrack, two other great bands from 2000s
Im currently in college its not a easy lofe the moment tryin to make friends or hell even talkin to someone with my introvert ass this band has truly givin me hope and time to think positive glad ppl found this amazing band
@@markhardwick8032 So glad you mention MCS wow
And this was the song/video that got me massively into Bloc Party back in 04 and changed my life forever!
sigh. i love this song. it just stays in your head so much. the chorus is so strong.
I love bloc party. Brings me back to a better time thats for sure
Drummer is loving it 😂
why isn't this on spotify?:(
Still coming back here in 2022 and so glad this song has come back into their live set.
This song never gets old. One of the best next to "Two More Years".
I just love it! ^.^
Been thinking little thoughts

This reminds me of Ebs and flows.. cycles of life. All good things don't last forever. All bad things must come to an end someday. I love this music!
discovered this band at the beginning of the year when i had just recently gotten out of a relationship. this album saved my life
Amazing record. Hope all is well these days
I found the album before I went through a break up but didn’t truly fall in love with the album until after. The album is the sole reason that I got over it so quickly. I love this album to death. I don’t think it will ever not be my favourite album ever.
Keep on trucking
For some reason the video for Two More Years is now blocked in Ireland, when it surely shouldn't be and wasn't last time i looked (maybe a year ago) :_ .
For me this song is like the film 'Field of Dreams'. It doesn't matter how long in between viewings/listenings it just makes me weep every time. Such a beautiful piece of art
When Bloc Party were skinny lads had and a more simple sound that appealed to a wide range of people.
Oh no, they changed. How awful.
rmkw4291 i feel like Bloc Party’s older songs (like this one) would be a lot better if it had a less generic structure. They used the structures too similar to each other too much
Off The Rails Kay Is all change good?
this song makes me feel like a kid again back in the mid 2000s!
no matter what, always my favorite band.
Such a great BP track - love the 7/4 at the end.
He's absolutely brilliant, one of my favourite new drummers
remember hearing this for the first time live on the steve lamaq show back in 2004. still my favourite song of theirs!
2004 vibes, nostalgic
one of the best songs ive ever heard in my life
You stole the words from my mouth !
Yes, he IS a beast, and bloody hell, what a great rythm he's giving to BP's tracks !
Damn great, i swear !
If there's some instrument who caugh my ears first on finding out about BP, no doubt twas drums !
Absolutely fabulous, a "beatic" band !
My perso fav's are ION SQUARE and I STILL REMEMBER, but i will most prob' add this one to the list...
Hey, all BP fans here, hello & be fine !
10 years later and how I still love this song
Still needs to be added to Apple Music pleeeeeeassssse
I miss the old days of Bloc Party, things are so different now
This song is definitely my favorite of theirs. It is on the Little Thoughts EP. I love all the songs off that cd and suggest all of you take a listen.
When your wife asks if you remembered the paper towels
67 people missed the awesome bloc party
This MV always puts a smile on my face.
Love this song. The vid is simple but hypnotizing!!! Bloc Party!!!!!
Bloc Party has amazing composition. I just wonder how Kele does it...
Matt Tong is a legend!A true master of his instrument!
I feel like Japan's music followed this blueprint made by Bloc Party.
Nunca me canso de escuchar Bloc Party :)
I love this song !!!!
No band has the ability to make me fall in love at first sound to as many songs as Bloc Party. Amazing.
how can 61 ppl not like bloc party. for those asking yes, i do listen to this too much and it's one my favorites by them.
That ending always gets me.
That awesome switch to 7/4 with Matt's drum rolls from snare to toms, the way the guitars play off of each other, and that synth in the back are so touching, especially when it switches back to 4/4 for the last 2 measures, such a beautiful chord to fade out on. Classic song.
@@GreenDayDookieDemos as a drummer I understand what you’re saying but I don’t think anyone else got that lol 😂
@@cris46531 Probably not hahahaha, I just can't get over how well-written and performed that is
can't name a single band in the charts rn who are even close to touchng bloc party.

@@kubrickking5101 m?
@@kubrickking5101 no band not even bloc party themselves will come close to producing indie rock gems similar to the silent alarm / weekend era. the best word to describe their music this era is exuberance. i like the strokes and am but man i still think bloc party put themselves over the moon with an unmatched distinctiveness making music that surrounds you in this white energy that perfectly encapsulates what being young in the modern era is like. imo the band took the genre really way far, more so than their pioneering peers. i dont really hate the indie rock that came after their prime but most of it has slowed down and follows the mac demarco tropical trend which isnt really bad per se at least to me but with each listen of the same sounding stuff your ears grow numb to otherwise uninteresting cookie cutter tracks that are afraid to move from "deep lyrics" and bassy rhythmic rhythms (i mean lots of basslines in pop today arent melodic; bloc party isnt the anthesis but im just making the point of characterizing how much of IR is redundant nowadays) and towards frantic soundscapes of fast tempos - and i dont mean but not also criticism a la vampire weekend just any which way the music goes: bloc party paints pictures with their music and puts me in a specific mood whenever i listen to a specific track of theirs. the understanding between the connection of music and words and the purposeful display of technical proficiency and comping is why i enjoy BP more so than almost any other rock band today.
Helicopter and so here we are, easily the best 2 in my opinion.
I luv Bloc Party!!!!!
Bloc Party Fan since 2010.
this band is amazing
and after all this time bloc party is still my favorite band
This song is absolutely timeless!
Their best song by a mile and that saying something.
Agreed
This song is still incredible
Still listening in 2024!
I'm quite obsessed with the yellow shirt, pink guitar bit, but also the hair, haha XD
Silent Alarm was insane. I love it and still listen to it almost every other week at least. Everything before A Weekend In The City is the best - but "AWITC" was still a nice listen. Some of their new stuff is good to listen to, others not so, but they're taking a new directions, which on the one hand is cool, but on the other is a little annoying as their early stuff is clearly fucking awesome. One of the best bands to come from the UK in recent times, easily.
