- Its time for another Gran Turismo community discussion! This time around we are moving away from the world of our favorite cars in GT, and into the world of our favorite racing circuits, courses, tracks and locations from the entire GT series.
From expected and legendary real courses around the world, to iconic original circuits from the minds of PD themselves, and from the dirt and snow events peppered through the franchise, to some of the quirkiest and unique locations used in only a handful of events here and there such as the Gymkhana Pad or Moon Missions, there really is something for everyone. So let's sit down and run through literally every circuit which has been featured in the entire Gran Turismo series, and tabulate each of our own individual top 10 favourites down in the comments, and then in part 2 we will be looking back over our collective thoughts to see which the most popular courses are for our little slice of the GT community!
And of course be sure to subscribe so that you don't miss part 2!

Without a doubt Gran Turismo has been the king for circuits in racing games! The best original circuits, the coolest city courses, and always a fantastic selection of real world tracks! There has always been something for everyone to enjoy, and i give Polyphony a huge round of applause for that!
ALL original circuits as they appeared in GT1 (Grand Valley, Trial Mountain, etc)
Autumn ring Mini would be my favourite followed by Apricot hill.
They are short and easy to master and I loved picking oldtimers and thrashing them around the corners while desperately trying to body block the more modern cars on the straights.
Even managed to beat a NSX while rocking a C1 'vette on the PSP 😂
Complex string was the perfect course for tuning a vehicle. They every type of corner in there, really helping dial cars in
Long story short Citta di aria. Honourable mentions, Red rock valley, infinineon motorspeedway and grindenwald.
10) Monza
9) autumn Ring
8) Cape Ring full track
7) Sierra
6) spa
5) pikes peak Hill climb
4) Cote d azur ( Monaco)
3) Daytona road coarse
2) deep forest raceway
1) George v Paris
Wow, nice to see big love for Paris
It was really difficult for me to order these, but here is my list:
1. El Capitan
2. Seattle
3. Deep Forest (original)
4. Nordschleife
5. Special Stage route 5
6. Citta di Aria
7. Trial Mountain (original)
8. La Sarthe
9. Infineon
10. Mount Panorama
Honorable mentions: Suzuka, Amalfi, Spa, Watkins Glen, Tokyu R246
I feel like the list might change depending on what car I use or my mood that particular day.
1 George v paris
2 Tokyo R246
3 El capitan
4 operas de paris
5 gran valley
6 nurbürgring
7 Suzuka
8 high speed ring
9 citta di aria
10 Chamonix
Paris love, you love to see it
My favorite track has to be cita di aria, theres just something about driving a rally car at high speeds through tight streets that gives me happiness, the elevation really adds to it
It used to be my least favorite track, until i got better at driving it, thats when it gets really fun
Big fan of New York, I visit the city quite often and it’s so surreal to race through the streets, which as you pointed out are accurate. Always have loved Monaco too! The city tracks always have the best visual appeal, at least to me.
1. Nurbürgring
2. Seol Central - I love the corner and mostly hightspeed
3. Tsukuba Circuit - obviously for drifting and also do enjoyed for time trail
4. Circuito de la Sierra - I love the long forever track and do enjoy a from race and time trail for fun
5. El Captain
6. Special Stage Route 5 - cause it gives me the nostalgia and do enjoyed the night race.
7. Special Stage Route 7 - same thing as the 5 but like the long straight away.
8. Sonoma Raceway
9. Tokyo R246 - it's been a while and do grow up with it with a passion.
10. Indianapolis international speedway.
This one was just as hard as the cars for me there are some great tracks throughout GT's history and I couldn't fit all my faves so here's just ten off the top of my head.
Grand Valley Speedway (original)
Deep Forest (original)
Suzuka Circuit
Seattle Circuit
Costa di Almalfi
Daytona Road Course
Mount Panorama
Tokyo Route 246
Tahiti Maze
Special Stage Route 5
Tokyo rt.246 and Red Rock Valley
1. Monza
2. Spa Francorchamps

4. Special stage Route 5
5. Twin Ring Motegi
6. Midfield
7. Deep forest
8. Grand Valley
9. High speed ring
10. Autumn ring
I wish GT7 gets more original circuits.
My first console was the PS3, with GT 5 Prologue being my first taste of GT. I for one would love to get Motegi back, as well as Monaco and Iger. Thanks for this list Mike... 👍👍🍻
Okay, gloves off, full bias incoming, no holding back. My top 10 favourite circuits in the series would literally just be the entire roster of Gran Turismo 1 minus PS1 Test Course. There are tracks from future games I love, Swiss Alps, PS2 Test Course, Nordschliefe, Le Mans, Top Gear Test Track, even Lake Louse. But I can't overstate how influential and important the tracks of Gran Turismo 1 are to me. The way they were created and integrated into the game is so well done it's worthy of a video essay itself. For the sake of ranking them though:
1. Clubman Stage Route 5
2. Special Stage Route 5
3. Trial Mountain
4. High Speed Ring
5. Grand Valley Speedway
6. Autumn Ring
7. Special Stage Route 11
8. Deep Forest Raceway
9. Grand Valley East
10. Autumn Ring Mini
Well a week has passed, so bonus top 5: my favourite rally circuits in Gran Turismo!
5: Green Forest Roadway: Obscure and undervalued dirt course that feels like a rally version of Deep Forest and Trial Mountain. So sad this was only featured in Gran Turismo 2
4: Fisherman's Ranch: Long circuit that's really fun with the new physics. I love racing on the few races, World Rally Championship and 4WD Japan, over and over using classic rally liveries. That said, this and the next one flip flops.
3: Grand Canyon: What seals the deal for me is the crowd, where a few people will risk their lives going to the middle of the track just to take a picture of the lead driver and run back. The more I think about it, it's crazy how Polyphony allowed this.
2: Lake Louse: Canadian track. Obviously a huge bonus for me but it's the first wide snow track, the variants I think were handled very well, and the night lights are baller.
1: Swiss Alps: Has been my favourite ever since I was little. Although there is a decent chance Lake Louise might overtake it as I grow older. I love wide rally circuits, and this is the easiest for me to get great drifts with due to there being only one tarmac section (I say that but it's a wooden bridge). Funny because it's an evolution of Smokey Mountain South, which I didn't care for mainly because it felt like a beta track. But yeah I adore Swiss Alps in GT3 and 4.
In my opinion, Twin Ring Motegi (or now called Mobility Resort Motegi) has been my favorite real world circuit in the Gran Turismo series. I've adore the track even since its debut in GT4, as I prefer over Fuji Speedway or Suzuka Circuit anyday. Given GT's good relationship with Super GT and Super Formula, in addition with them already having tracks like the ones I mentioned that those series raced at, it would be amazing (at least for me) to see it return in GT7.
1. Le Mans
2. Nürburgring Nordschleife
3. Interlagos (only 18kms from my home😅)
4. Spa
5. Red Rock Valley
6. Infineon raceway
7. Autopolis
8. Motegi (all of them)
9. SSR5
10. Opera paris
1, Apricot Hill
2, Autodromo Nazionale Monza
3, Midfield Raceway
4, Tokyo R246
5, Laguna Seca Raceway
6, Circuit De La Sarthe
7, Indianapolis Motor Speedway
8, Goodwood Motor Circuit
9, Seattle Circuit
10, Nürburgring
1) Red Rock Valley
2) Special Stage Route 11 (GT1)
3) Apricot Hill
4) Nürburgring Nordschleife
5) Rome Circuit (GT2/GT3)
6) Suzuka
7) Seattle Circuit
8) Spa-Francorchamps
9) El Capitan
10) Test Course (GT3/GT4)
This is actually pretty difficult to choose, but after giving it some thought, I think my list is as such:
10. Maggiore Full Course (I only just while watching this video realised how much I enjoy this track.
9. Grand Valley Highway (yes, the GT7 Version. I love it despite knowing everyone else hates it. I don't like the newer Deep Forest or Trial Mountain but Grand Valley Highway, I love it.)
8. Circuito de Sierra (I'd love to see this track remade with proper visuals as you are right, it was graphically off)
7. Complex String
6. Dragon Trail
5. High Speed Ring (Specifically the GT1 and GT2 Version of the track)
4. Circuit De La Sarthe
3. Nurburgring Nordschleife (I also can't stand the GP Course lol)
2. Cape Ring
1. Special Stage Route 11 (HAS to be the Gran Turismo 1 version, the GT3 track is nowhere near as good)
Honourable Mentions: Special Stage Route X, Circuito de Roma (the GT6 Rome course), Red Rock Valley, Special Stage Route 5 and Route 7, Clubman Stage Route 5, Test Course (GT1 and GT2 version), Sardegna roud course and Laguna Seca.
I could go on, and even while typing this out I changed stuff up a bit. I didn't know that Route 11 was my favourite track until I really thought about which track out of every track in the series I'd pick to be brought back, and it is Route 11. It's really as close to a 'final boss' the series really ever had, with those 2 IA endurance races at the end of the first Gran Turismo. Such a challenging track that as a kid I disliked, but now, it's one of my absolute favourites.
My Favourite tracks :
1. El Capitan
2. Le Mans
3. Monza
4. New York
5. Seoul Central
6. Côte d'Azur
7. Costa di Amalfi
8. Seattle
9. Special Stage Route 7
10. Mid-Field Raceway
10. Costa di Amalfi
9. Cape Ring (Full Course)
8. Complex String
7. Le Mans
6. Circuito de la Sierra
5. Kyoto (Yamagiwa + Miyabi)
4. Nurburgring (24H)
3. High Speed Ring
2. Apricot Hill
1. Midfield Raceway
Honorable mentions (not in my top 10 but I like them): Special Stage Route 11, Twin Ring Motegi (Full Course) , Autumn Ring (Full Course) , Monza (GP version) , El Capitan, Indianapolis, Spa, Laguna Seca, Deep Forest (Old version), Interlagos, Trial Mountain (Old version), Silverstone (GP circuit) ,Dragon Trail (both versions),Tahiti Maze ,Citta di Aria, Chamonix (GT4 version) , Tokyo R246, Grand Valley Speedway, Circuit de Sainte-Croix (especially C version), Infineon. It wasn't easy to do the ranking.I know people may (and probably will) disagree with me but this is just MY ranking, and nothing more than that
1. Le Sarthe
2. Spa Francorchamps
3. Red Bull ring
4. Sardegna
5. Nurburgring
6. Dragon trail seaside
7. Deep forest raceway
8. Interlagos
9. Fuji speedway
10. Suzuka
These are my personal favourites.
When it comes to original tracks, Circuit De La Sierra is tops for me, followed by Cape Ring. It's sad that both circuits are not currently in GT7
When it comes to Real world circuits, Somona/Sears Point/Infieon, followed by the Nurburgring Nordschifile, followed by Le Mans
And, finally, when it comes to city courses, Seoul Central, followed by Hong Kong, followed by George V Paris (yes, I loved the city tracks in GT4).
My top 10
1.Daytona International Speedway (home track)
2.Nurburgring
3.SPA
4.Tokyo R246
5.Monaco
6.Autumn Ring
7.Grand Valley Speedway (GT1- GT6)
8.Midfield Raceway
9.Special Stage Route 11
10.Laguna Seca
My list, mostly in order.
Midfield (this has to be number one for me, absolutely love it)
Seattle (definitely number 2, so many laps during the 45min-ish enduro in one of the earlier GTs)
Cape Ring (man that was a lot of fun, definitely miss it)
Apricot Hill (good old circuit)
Bathurst (I'm an Aussie, has to be here)
Nürburgring (24hr if I have to choose, unlike you I love the GP lol)
Grand Valley (original, new one lost the flow I think. It just doesn't feel the same anymore.)
Matterhorn Rotenboden (I used to love this one, the elevation changes and blind corners over crests were a lot of fun)
Dragon's Trail (either really, I love both of them)
Pikes Peak (this was a lot of fun, although they would probably bring it back as tarmac unfortunately)
Complex String didn't quite make it, along with El Capitan. Complex String was fun, but don't know how much I would enjoy it now (been many years now for me racing it).
I definitely prefer the Special Stage Route 5 & 11 over any of the Tokyo tracks (can't stand them, even R246). The original SSR11 would be my choice out of those but not enough to make the list. The change to SSR11 just didn't feel right.
Unordered, but:
1. Tokyo R246
2. Sardegna Road Course
3. High Speed Ring
4. Deep Forest
5. Watkins Glen
6. Autopolis
7. Pikes Peak
8. Dragon Trail Seaside
9. Twin Ring Motegi
10. Fuji
1. Le mans, 2. Route 5, 3.infineon 4 Spa, 5. Ascari 6. Monaco, 7. Hong Kong, 8. Route 7, 9. Seol, 10, eiger nor.
Edit. Matterhorn

7. Kyoto Driving Park
6. Tsukuba
5. Dragon Trail
4. Fuji Speedway

1. Tokyo Expressway
Nordschliefe on gt4 was ground breaking
Yes it was! I remember blasting down the nordchelife in literally anything that moved in gt4, from the 1880's model mercedes, to the svt lightning, to the shelby cobra, to the Mazda miata, to the 300 zx, to the various race cars, literally anything it was so fun!
I Love Driving Circuit de Sainte-Croix Layout C in both Directions. Wish it was a Real one TBH.
My favourite circuit from gran turismo series is New York Street Circuit from Gran Turismo 4
I love the original Grand Valley Speedway, not the new version.
The older GV is definitely better than the newer one
i actually really like the Tokyo Expressway track thats in GT7, reminds me of the Wangan but not the full layout of the Highway system, SSR5 was one i liked too, although i do really miss Tokyo R246 in GT
Grand Valley Speedway - plain and simple. I only played GT sport and GT7 so I don't know the more other brilliant tracks.
But this track give the most feel and pleasure for roadcars.
I really wish there was a longer 'road'-track ... that gives you that road feel instead of a race track feel. Also it is a track where the 600 pp and slower classes come to their right and the FF-classes. I really wish their was a Japanese equivallent of that.
Autumn Ring for me - full & mini versions.
I struggle learning long circuits and my favourites shift depending on which game I've been playing, but Autumn Ring has always been fun for racing and drifting :)
my top 10 favorite tracks are Daytona, Weather tech Raceway, Spa Fanco-champs, La Sarthe, Nürburgring, Gran Valley HW1, Trail Mountain, Deep Forest, High Speed Ring, Indy Speedway (Brickyard 400). #HSG
Le Mans
Grand Valley (original)
Silverstone
Midway Speedway
High Speed Ring
Special Stage Route 5
Special Stage Route 11
Spa
Suzuka
Red Rock Raceway
1) Cape ring (full course)
2) Tokyo R246
3) El Capitan
4) Citta de Aria ( it was also on gt psp)
5) Opera Paris
6) Rome night
7) Trial Mountain
8) Grand Valley ( Gt2 variantl)
9) Costa di amalfi
10) Twin Ring Motegi
Honourable mention to Infineon raceway.
Tokyo R246, smokey mountain, Tahiti maze, grand valley. Circuit de la sarthe, high speed ring. To name a few
We need those special route stages. They can keep those EVs
10. Cote d'Azur (because of the last corner)
9. Apricot Hill (always was unique to me)
8. SSR5 (special stage route 5) (Long) (I always love the downhill)
7. Redbull ring (Always a strange design for a track to me)
6. Tokyo Expressway (any) (I love how it is more street vibes than SSR5)
5. Daytona (I loved using NASCAR on it)
4. SPA (everything about this track is great but not favorite)
3. SSRX (Because the easiest to test speed)
2. Laguna Seca (CoRksCreW)
1. Seattle (I have used this track since childhood and has stuck with me ever since :) )
Plus a few honorable mentions:
Red rock valley (THE GOAT)
Suzuka circuit (I love how technical it is)
Final one: Nurburgring (Meme's and cool races in it)
I’ve honestly really come to like the new Grand Valley. I am a newer player to the series, since Sport, so I definitely lack the experience of the original, however the new one just seems to have a nice flow to me. It’s a solid track with some straights but also technical sections, and I just enjoy that nice balance. I originally didn’t like it when I first played GT7, but now I use it as a test track for any new cars I buy, and it serves it’s purpose very well in that regard. That being said, Circuit de la Sarthe is definitely my favourite track to actually race on
Having to pick a favourite circuit in Gran Turismo is like trying to pick a favourite child...but here's my top 10;
1. Super Speedway Gran Turismo 3 version (First track I ever raced on, aesthetically WAY more pleasing than Motegi. Even though its a short oval, I could race on this all day in GT3.
2. Midfield (Thousands upon thousands of miles racked up on this track over all games it appeared in. It's fast, simple, and fun!)
3. High Speed Ring (My most driven on track in GT4. Just loved going high speeds on this track)
4. Complex String (I just loved how...abandoned and empty it felt. The overcast sky it GT3, no stands or nothing...it just felt mysterious)
5. Red Rock Valley (My most wished track to return to GT7.Fun in GT2...bouncy physics aside)
6. Test Course (GT3/4/PSP version. SSRX is too long and boring, Test Course is the right length for high speed racing imo)
7. Cape Ring (The 360 degree loop...enough said)
8. Sarthe (Those high speed chases in GT4, and watching the AI randomly spin out was fun to watch as a kid)
9. Daytona (Always loved this track, going from the winding infield to the high speed tri-oval, except in GT7...the AI don't fully accelerate for some reason)
10. Smokey Mountain (So many good memories racing my dad on this track in GT3)
Honourable mentions to Azure, Special Stage Route 15, Seattle, Deep Forest ( GT1 - GT6) and Trial Mountain (GT1 - GT6)
Here are my top ten picks from all the games up until now:
Special Stage Route 11 (GT 1 Layout)
Red Rock Valley
Complex String
Tahiti Maze
Circuit de La Sarthe II (No Chicanes)
Suzuka (Bike/Tourist Trophy Layout)
Infineon (Bike/Tourist Trophy Layout)
Circuit Ricardo Tormo
Spa Francorchamps
Top Gear Test Track
all of the original circuits as they appeared from GT1 to GT4 (except Hong Kong, Opera De Paris, Grand Canyon, Tsukuba, George V Paris), i miss too much Special Stage Route 5, Special Stage Route 11, Apricot Hill Raceway, Autumn Ring, Midfield Raceway, Rome Circuit (GT2 & GT3 version), Rome Night, Seattle, Redrock Valley Speedway, Seattle, El Capitan, Sonoma, Monaco, Swiss Alps, Smokey Mountain, Tahiti Maze, Deep Forest Raceway, Grand Valley Speedway, Trial Mountain, New York, Fuji Speedway, High Speed Ring, Tokyo Route 246
Special Stage Route 11 (GT3 Version)
I'm only choosing from original circuits as you can race most of the popular real circuits in basically any game nowadays, to the point of I'm getting sick of most of them.
Mid-Field Raceway - Best circuit in the franchise IMO, I love everything about it, I need this circuit back more than I need oxygen, lol
Dragon Trail Seaside - Would be number 1 if Mid-Field Raceway didn't exist.
Deep Forest Raceway pre GT7 - While I overall still like the GT7 version, it's nowhere near as good as the pre GT7 version.
Trial Mountain Pre GT7 - Same reason as Deep Forest.
Special Stage Route 5 - Classic GT circuit, would love it back in the series
Tokyo Route 246 - Same reason as Special Stage Route 5
Rome - Same reason as Special Stage Route 5
Seattle - Same reason as Special Stage Route 5
Grand Valley Speedway pre GT 7 - Classic and challenging GT circuit and so much better than whatever the hell the GT7 version is supposed to be. GT 7 destroyed this circuit.
High Speed Ring - Again a classic and nice and fast.
I will make an honourable mention to one real life circuit and that is Watkins Glen, that circuit is an absolute master class in circuit design, easily one of the best circuits in the world.
1. Circuit de la Sarthe
2. Nürburgring
3. Tokyo R246
4. Tsukuba Circuit
5. Seattle Circuit
6. Interlagos
7. Spa-Francorchamps
8. Deep Forest (Classic)
9. Special Stage 5
10. Suzuka Circuit
Mount Panorama (I would like to see the pre-1987 version though...)
Costa di Amalfi (I loved the visuals - good for photography!)
Nürburgring Nordschleife
Sierra
El Capitan
Seattle
SSR11
Motegi (ALL cicuits)
Apricot Hill
Infinion Raceway (Stock car course)
1: Tsukuba
2: Dragon Trail
3: Tokyo R246
4: Laggio Maggiore
5: Trail Mountain
6: Cote d azure
7: Rome (GT5
8: Autumn Ring
9: Autopolis
10: Suzuka
Here is my top 10 list:
1. Autumn Ring
2. Tsukuba
3. Monza
4. Red Bull Ring
5. Eiger Nordwand
6. Circuito de Roma
7. Circuito de Madrid
8. Laguna Seca
9. Goodwood Hill Climb
10. Suzuka
Green forest got renamed and remodeled into swiss alps in later games.
As someone who grew up with GT it is incredibly hard to put a top 10 together, will definitely have bias towards 3 and 4.
Trial Mountain
Hong Kong
Laguna Seca
Lago Maggiore
Grand Valley
Suzuka
El Capitan
Smokey Mountain
Costa de Amalfi
Apricot Hill
I like city courses in older games like Seattle track or the Mediterranean course (forgot the name from gt4) and many more.
For the latest GT, my only favorite course is De la Croix due to its beautiful scenery.
Watkins Glen. Went to many races there and also a track day.
from Forza Motorsport 4 it would be Fujumi Kaido and the Top Gear Test Track
Grand Valley Raceway,Red Rock Valley Raceway and Apricot Hill Raceway
Probably Grand Valley (original, the track not the road version like GT7), probably a lot of GT4 ones, like Citta di Aria
Come to think of it, we are missing alot of circuits that existed in GT are not in GT7......
In Terms Of My Top 10 They Are
10 High Speed Ring. Fun For Road Car Racing, But Can Be Boring For Prototype Racing.
9 Tokyo R246. Fun City Track, Need More Tracks Like This In GT7.
8 Autodrome Lago Maggiore. Fun For Endurance Racing, And A Nice Testing Track.
7. Grand Valley Speedway. Fun Track To Race On, And A Very Flowing Track.
6 Deep Forest Raceway GT7 Version. Love Both Versions Of Deep Forest, But I Like The GT7 Version A Bit More.
5 Midfield Raceway. Ironic At The Midpoint Of The List, But Love Midfield A Lot Definitely Want To See It Come Back In GT7.
4 Trial Mountain. Both The Original And GT7 Versions Iconic Track In The Franchise, Allways A Funtime To Race On.
3 Special Stage Route X. Some Of The Most Fun And Intense Racing I’ve Ever Had In A Racing Game.
2 Circuit De La Sarthe. Love Racing Around Le Mans, So Much Fun And Iconic.
1 Nurburgring Nordschleife. Probably The Track I’ve Spent The Most Time On In The Franchise, Love Racing Around Here And Testing As Well.
And That’s My List, Sorry If It Was Long To Read But I Love The Gran Turismo Series! It’s The Main Reason I’m In To Cars And Racing In General! Love The Work You Put In HSG! Continue To Be Awesome Mate!
30 minut en the monay in the poket 😂😂😂
Smokey Mountain from GT3
I can never choose my favorites besides Nurburgring and Autumn ring mini and High speed raceway.
not saying its my fav track but damn we need silverstone back
Seattle circuit is my favorite circuit in Racing game history Real or fake
Autopolis all day long easy
Daytona, just eat some Vagisil, full throttle and turn left.
Favoriete is lemans for mi
Trial Mountain
The ORIGINAL Grand Valley series... any of the layouts, but the original location before they bastardized it for GT7.
If you up root the Monaco track and dump it in a field in the middle of nowhere it just ain't Monaco... god knows what Polyphony were thinking.
Tokyo R246
Original tracks and city tracks of old gt are legendary, real tracks boring , tree , tree ,tree and again tree 😅
