The EMPI shifters are alright; I had one in a dune buggy back in the late ‘80’s. For more solid alternatives, albeit more expensive; the Gene Berg and Vintage Speed shifters are the bomb.
I did the speaker thing for my '61 Ghia convertible, with a wood wine box back in 1980. I even put on a handle to carry it. now I have a '72 super. I'm looking for a cool suit case now. new sub, I just found you guys, great content.
That is cool! Welcome to the channel, so glad you found it! If you have a Facebook, join the club on there! Super fun and tons of good information and ideas!
I have a 65 "TOTALLY STOCK" Beetle ive had under cover for 16 years. Im ready to get it out and attempt a total restoration. You have been a great inspiration. Thank you.❤
You guys are great! Your videos have been a huge help to me in my process of fixing/restoring my 1973 Super Bettle! Thanks for all the videos! Hope one day I can meet you guys in person to thank you for all the tips and teaching! Keep up the great work!
So far one of my favorite mods has been the "Big Boy" pedal assembly to move the clutch pedal away from the brake pedal. My size 14 shoes fit much better!
Once she get's going she can't stop ! She's a keeper. LOL. I love your channel man, from Australia. I just bought a 73 superbug to restore ish. However I'm older and old school . I'm going to jack it up and put some All terrain tyres on it. We have great picturesque dirt roads and don't want to scape the crap out of the underside.
I’m about to bring my 68 back too life. Your videos are the refresher course I needed to get motivated. Do you have a video on the relief plugs on the bottom? One of mine leaks oil bad but I can’t get plug out. Subscribed!! Thanks for sharing.
Welcome aboard, and thank you for being here. I did two different videos on this subject you’re asking about. I’ll give you a link for both of them. I’m organizing an index on my website where it will be easier to find the videos. czcams.com/play/PL1Q1aDiQaKKlEILuAxqpYT6oUX6q5x-tm.html&si=JRFc4BaoqtinvURL
Nice list of mods, one that you could have included is the rear window blinds or louvres. I think they look really cool. Also there's the 'Australian trim' that runs on the rear side of the beetle. Only mods you listed that I'm not a fan of is the wing guards and a pillar, heater channel chrome covers. And not because they're Chrome, just because I feel like they're bad water traps, and you won't know the car is rotten behind them until its too late.
Thank you, my friend! I tried to include stuff, even if I’m not fond of them. Just to show what’s available. I wish the quality was better on some of the mods. I try not to be ignorant, but some of them are really crappy.
Basically, the only way I have found so far, is to remove the door panel, once the hole is made to tack welded the nut on the inside. Although I believe you can reach up in there and tighten it up instead of tack welding, if need be.
hey Slade ! on Rambus I put a grant steering wheel but I couldn't get a hub , so I butchered it out of the old one and tapped the 3 holes . I had to because I was so fat it would rub holes in my shirts. I have lost over 200 lbs since then.
Congratulations on your weight loss! I wish I could drop some weight but I’m having a heckuva time as I get older. I’m glad you got that all figured out. Grant makes a lot of really nice wheels.
I see new pop-out windows available on line out of Mexico and Brazil, which kept making Beetles well after Germany stopped. Is there reason to believe these are good parts, or buyer beware (in your experience)?
Oh my, I’m sure they are good! I have not found those yet. I believe they would probably be really good quality also! I was basically talking about the cheap knock offs. I wish I could find a good supplier from Mexico and Brazil.
The person that sent me the message on Facebook had gave me the wrong date. I am quite sure people are going to go to the Facebook page to find out the details. Thank you for posting.
Hi Slade. This is your newest post so I figured to ask here. I have a 68 swing like yours and I’m getting grinding when I put into reverse it goes in fine but as I release the clutch it grinds and Sometimes it catches most not. Mechanic I took it too I’m a little suspicious but he’s known for working on the air cools. the first thing he mentioned was that I needed a new transmission because there was nobody in the area that could crack it open To rebuild and special equipment is needed? He also said he wouldn’t be able to tell what tooth flywheel I have unless it was taken off to see. The entire car is a 12 volt system including the alternator. He made no mention of my missing shift rod bushing worn coupler and 2.5 inch free clutch play. Is this a guy that you would trust just by what I told you his response was ? Of course he was willing to pull and put a new transmission in. I have yet to replace bushing couplers or adjust clutch
OK first of all, I would definitely change the bushing, and also your coupler at the back. Buy a good one, though! Then I would go from there. A lot of times when they jump out of reverse, is when the issue starts. But I would change those couple of things first since it is very cheap. I have videos on that. You can do it!
If you mean the low back, leather ones, or I should say really nice vinyl. I got them from Speedway motors. www.speedwaymotors.com/Procar-Lowback-Black-Vinyl-Seats-Kit,379651.html

Thanks for having me in the video! Was lots of fun! I hope everyone enjoyed! 😊

Oh yes, I agree, a good friend of mine, put a vintage speed shifter in his beetle. Oh my goodness what a complete difference.

Thanks very much. I truly appreciate the kind comment.
I love the center console. And we got my wife a 2013 Fender Bug and since she changed cars she has been missing the Fender option!.
Thank you for commenting! I like those consoles too to be honest with you. Oh, I bet she is missing that.
Now I need more goodies
It’s always great to buy extra goodies.
Such a cute couple
Thank you!!!!
Thank you very much. That was very nice of you.

Thank you much for the kind comment. I truly appreciate that. Hopefully we will run into each other at a car show.
Pop Outs Are Beneficial for security too! The original windows can be pulled out with a heavy suction cup
Yes, you are right Mark! There is no doubt about that.

nice job.
Thank you, Jim!
Very nice
Thank you very much!
When you need to change the shift rod bushing, go for the Delfin bushing. A bit more but you'll never have to change the bushing again.
Love your videos great job your doing, I learn so much best wishes for both you today and every day. Cheers
Great video my friends!!

@SladesVWBeetle usually, OEM is best.
I just love both of y'all in the video. Great information. 🦉How many lollies 🍭 does it take Heather to film a whole video?
Thank you!!!! 😂 2 lollies! They keep me from laughing too much!!!! 🙅♀
Thank you so much, my friend! I love her to death, but she can never keep a straight face on film lol
I'd like to add a mirror to the passenger side door. how do you add the threads to the hole? 1972 Standard Beetle

Love the video and those seats look awesome. What brand of running boards will you use? The ones on my 1970 beetle need to be replaced.

The aftermarket pop out windows from my experience are not very good when they’re closed. They do not seal the inside of the car from rain.

Cover Air ride suspension in your next video
That’s a really good idea! I would have nothing to show is the problem.
