- One of a kind Flight Simulator using Lego Technic! The plane really does Fly like a kite :)
This model is powered by 39 powered up L motors for propulsion using 12 control+ smart hubs.
I’ve used the speed of sound and RPM setup, for more info on the drivetrain check my previous video.

I love how the propellor actually spins as well! Looks so realistic, great work!
Hey thanks Jacob! Yeah that was a bonus also the sound too :)
It's the same effect that allows the autogyros to fly, actually =)
This is probably the coolest and most creative idea for a lego build I've ever seen. If you told me 10 years ago someone would build a model plane that actually hovers with just lego I would have said you were lying
Hey there thank you so much for the comment! I really appreciate it :)
It is so cool
Agreed, amazing build.
A little video editing advice: you could have set a Ken Burns effect ton your cloud incrustation to make the scene even more realistic and simulate the plane’s movement by making the background moving relatively to the plane. An old technique used in old movie when filming car moving and having the background moving instead of the car standing still.
For all you impatient folks, the video starts at 0:57
You can thank me later. ツ
Who would have thought you would use the speed of sound and RPM setup for a flight simulator, incredible idea and it worked out great, amazing!
Hey hey thank you very much! Originally this was a thrust test but things turned out differently lol :)
This tops mine like 200%
Amazing job!
Hello you!
Hey there thankyou very much! Your channel is doing great too :) I don’t think this would have existed if I hadn’t seen yours! I’m going to make a flight sim little world which is why I bought the little plane! I’ll mention you in the video when I do :)
This started out as a thrust test but somehow turned into this when I realised the plane could float! :)
That is really really cool.
The fact that the plane's propeller actually spins is cool too
Hey cheers Donnacha! Yeah that was a real bonus. Was a fun project :)
With that sort of simulator, I wonder why anybody wouldn't want to be a pilot. Amazing job, GazR.
Haha thank you very much! I really appreciate it too :)
Holy crap, my grandpa had that exact biplane set! He passed away due to covid back in ‘20, but he left me his plane set. Glad to see it here.
When you use 100% of your brain and 100% of your LEGO parts:
Hey there thank you nice comment :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines 😉🥳
That’s absolutely crazy!! I did not think it was going to take off that high at all, great build as always!!! And 92k subs!!! It’s so close!!
Hey Easton thank you as always! We’re getting there! I need to start on some powerful vehicles soon! :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines yeah of course!! Ooo that sounds amazing can’t wait!
Hooray!!! That little minifig has achieved the ultimate pilot’s dream, fly a Lego plane without anybody holding onto it.
Fly on, little minifig, fly on!
This would be extremely interesting with some fog and lasers. The fluid dynamics must be hell around that thing
can only imagine what all the studs on the tops of the bricks are doing to the airflow, maybe tiny little vorticies coming off of them?
This is worthy of the interstellar meme :)
Lol hey Alessio :)
That slow Mo was mint 1:28 2:19 it sounds like it staring up mint
its really amazing how lego's could do this stuff
I see this plane model and am like: "I know this from somewhere..."
I had the EXACT SAME model as a 5 year old child!! I remember the eagle from the back of the plane!
That's total insanity! Well done man, incredible
I love the choice of the airplane. 💖
What be really neat. Is making a little balsa plane. Then using it like a wind tunnel with the same control method
Oh nice yes that would be pretty cool, I used to make them way back when I was young :)
That prop must generate so much thrust for it to lift off
Yeah it’s quite impressive, originally this was going to be a thrust test but I’ll do that another time :)
Good thing Minifigs don't get airsick, otherwise you'd have 🤮bricks all over the place messing up the machinery 😂
😂😂
Absolutely awesome, this is totally stunning. I've enjoyed watching all your builds, but this one is a notch above. Very well done Gaz 👍
Hey cheers Lee I’m glad you like it! I had great fun with this one, I was so happy when I realised it could float lol(the big kid in me) :)
GENIUS. This set up is so cool.
You can make a schort movie with some good effects it would so nice. This is so amazing.
Hey, why not use techniques like this to create lego animations? It will be super cool if you do that!
I wish I could animate, I would have had the mini fig pull down the visor and wink lol
Next we need a lifting body airframe to test.
When i was young i had this large and powerful fan in my house and i would point it upwards and place the lego city police chopper set 7741 on top and it would actually lift off but then quickly veer to the edge and fall and break. i wish i had the technic peices and the budget at the time that you had here. you could probably do the same with the heli and the tilt would effect rotor speed changing the height over the fan.
Also if you attatch a second fan at another axis it could make the plane more stable by reducing the yaw
My mans actually built a flight simulator out of lego 🤯🤯 LEGO. Keep up the good work these are SO creative.
This is so ridiculous that it is actually just insanely brilliant! Wonderful work!
I loved that plane when i was a kid
That is incredible and super creative! I loved the zoom in part and it made the plane look like it was in a movie! What if you made a stop motion with this??
Hey cheers Benen! I’m not sure my stop motion skills are upto much! Lack of Patience, poor eyesight etc. lol
I’d love someone to do it though, make the guy step in his plane and fly away…give a little wink to the camera at 20,000 ft haha
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines aw dang, i recently tried making a stop motion and it turned out pretty good! so i posted it on my Instagram and people love it! Maybe just try making a very simple one thats a few seconds long! like a minifigure walking!
Very nice, and interesting design. However, if the wings aren't producing lift, then the aircraft isn't really flying...
I had that plane when I was about 10 years old. Love the condition of yours.
Man, i have that red plane. Awesome
Now i want to see a lego wind tunnel with semi flyable plane, ailerons and whatnot. To the building board!
9 year old me would've had a stroke, this is so cool
Haha cheers Robert, me too :)
This is so cool 😎 it makes the plane realistic You deserve more likes
Hi thank you very much I’m glad you like it :)
Only one word…WOW!!!
Impressive all the build you can create with the Lego technic spinning wheel.
Congratulations
Hey thank you very much! Originally this was a thrust test but turned into this when I realised the plane could float :)
i loved that plane and still have it🙃
Oh great it’s a nice little model :)
Should aim the propellers at the ground and see if you can make the machine lift itself
Originally this was going to be a thrust test! More on that soon! Unfortunately the 84 as batteries weigh so much!
You could use these trans patent beams to make it look even more realistic...and just add a nice body to the Simulator like a countryside in Mini- tiny scale...that would look so cool 😃
Btw the most satisfaying Video you ve made 👍
Hey thank you so much for the comment! I am planning to do a little simulator soon!
Great idea too I wish I had more colourful Lego, that would look so good :)
Wish I was half as cool as that minifig.
This is way to good
Hey thanks Pawel! I’m glad you like it cheers :)
Wow this is stunning!
Hey there thank you as always :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines noproblem man! Now we need to see heli controls
I never thought of a helicopter weirdly! Nice idea :)
improves the sound quality in the part that turns on the propeller I hate that effect like water
Ok, that's quite cool indeed.
It looks so good, but it has a lot of turbulence. Its still a 10/10. The turbulence might be a thing if you want to make a bigger verision. Tip: try messing with the CoM(Centre of Mass) and the CoL(Centre of Lift) of less turbulence.
now that is amazing, well done. one of your best vids in a wile gaz. i cant believe its flys!
Hey cheers Fish I’m glad you like it! Was a fun project, the thrust is quite something, more on that soon :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines you should make a hover craft
If I could get a different power supply this would be great! I’ll definitely look into this cheers
I wonder if you could create an airfoil with technic pieces, so if you rotated the propulsion system 90 degrees it could make the plane fly like, well, a plane.
Almost looks like Porco Rosso! Cool...
Nice classic plane choice! That set was wicked.
Lego should contact you to produce their advertisement! Wow, Great Job!
Wow! Always crazy! It’s a sort fligtsimulator. I love it! 😜😎
Hey cheers Neil! Much appreciated 😀😎
This is soooo insane! Cant believe it works so well as a future pilot I’m in love with this. Soo close to 100k keep going!😎👍
Oh nice Nick! And thank you so much it means a lot 😀
Okay that's literally so cool 😂 nicely done mate!
Sick video!
You think you could build a propeller in the front facing the aeroplane and actual "wing shaped" wings? Might not be possible in this scale but would be pretty cool
Amazing! I never thought that would be possible but you showed it is!
Hey there thank you very much, I was so happy it could actually float :)
I always love to see people putting large amounts of time in really useful endeavours ;)
The practical applications are almost endless!
Honestly this is the best thing u made good. Jobbb
Hey thank you so much for the feedback, I’m glad you like it :)
Wow you really impressed with this one😂👍🙏🤜🤛
Hey thank you so much, much appreciated :)
Such a creative plane and system , what would be cool if you put a green screen behind it so it makes a cool background , keep up the great work
Insane
Hey there cheers appreciate it :)
Yay PilotWings!
😀 Hey there!
Wow, that’s really cool!!! 👍👍👍😊
Hey thanks Friedl! I was watching your drift car this week! It’s great! I struggle for time to comment and see other videos so apologise but I love it :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Thank you very much, but my creations are nothing compared to your buildings! Well done!👍
Maybe if you used 4 propellers it would have more consistent lift or maybe 2sets of 2
Imagine the motors needed for that! Part of the problem was when i accelerated slowly there was a point where there was slack in the nylon and that’s when it really wobbled. Talk about turbulence lol
That is simply amazing.
Hey there thank you so much :)
next video: LIFE SIZED FLIGHT SIMULATOR? (SO COOL)
On the Subjekt of air pressure can you hook those motors up to some pneumatic pumps you could make the first usable lego compressor
Lol hey Philip! I need to get some of these pneumatics!
One really annoying this about this setup is charging the 84 as batteries!!
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines Omg I didn't even think abaut that but yes that has to be such a pain do you think that maybe one bigger battery could solve that I mean you could wire everything up to a 7.2 volt lipo I think it would work
That would definitely help! Me and electrics have never really bonded so far! Usually I touch something and it never works again(from when I was younger lol)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines I can relate but you can do it I believe in you
hello ur close to 100K good job
Hey there thank you, I can’t believe it! :)
I love this so much … until it gets the crazy wobbles … then it makes me never want to see foot in an airplane again!! 😂
Great job! Love it!😀👌
Hey thank you for the feedback, cheers 😀
Ha! Super cheesey and super cool! It does look like it's flying! Now to actually make a Lego plane fly. Is it really possible?
Hey thank you! It kind of is flying like kite does :) I think the only way is to chuck one out of the bedroom window! I may get a few seconds of ‘flight’ lol
Awesome!
Cheers unlimited :)
...And in the next episode I will demonstrate a dogfight between F-14 and a SU-23 in a DCS environment completely made with lego...
I wonder how many different airplane models would work with this system. If you got enough green technic pieces you could even green screen out the control arms.
You even got the propeller to spin from the wind coming from the big propeller. Nice. Makes it look more realistic.
Hey cheers yeah that and the sound was a real bonus :)
If your doing these kind of high rpm with alot of gear videos try some lubrication to the spinning and rubbing parts next time like gears shafts etc will make them more silent too and peform better since there is less friction
it even has a prop sound
cheap but nice flight sim
Hey thank you very much! Yeah nice bonus with the prop sound :)
So cool keep em coming bro lol
Hey cheers Nathan appreciate it :)
Love this
Hey thank you :)
Haha, amazing. Nice work dude.
So cool!!!
Wow a nice Idea
❤️
So cool I saw this and I was like woooooow
it was beautiful G-d bless💚
you can make an indore free diving thing
Hey there thank you so much for the comment, much appreciated David :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines thank you.
you wormed my heart
OMG :) it really flyed !
Was that guitar sting or fishing line cool sound tho haha
Wow!
Dang, kinda want to build a rig like this to animate stuff, seems very useful!
Wow, nice video! Do you think that is posible to make fly a lego if you propulse it from an horizontal vector? In the same way that a wing of a plane works. I think is 50/50 my principal afraid is the mass of the wing. Sorry for my English
Hi there that’s a very interesting idea indeed! This does have a lot of thrust so it could be possible!
Your English is good keep it up :)
Make it all green except the plane, and you could start a movie
That would be epic! I’m going to buy some green cloth they use for filming this week :)
@@GazRsExtremeBrickMachines greaat🤣
Your Lego videos really refreshing👍, hopefully you'll hobby will bring happiness for yourself and the other
Very cool! Maybe you should try other things that fly!
Hey cheers Chris I definitely will! I’m going to try a wind tunnel :)
You could say interest in this channel has "taken off" based the increased amount of subscribers. Destination to the 100K CZcams Button is closing the distance.
Haha I like it and thank you! I really can’t believe it, I’ve been quite lucky :)
cool
Hey hey thank you :)
that would almost certainly work for making an old-looking lego video.
Tellement génial! 😅
Merci Beaucoup 😀😀
while this is quite creative it's not exactly aerodynamically impressive (?)
if you throw enough air at a flat surface it will push the flat surface upwards. You can see the lego plane is not dynamically stable, it would have fallen off the airflow source if not for the wires. But it does seem relatively balanced to the centre lift, which surprises me. Would be cool to see some actual aerodynamic testing, but that's probably something that requires lots of aeronautical understanding, so no pressure.
I'd be interested to see a proper lego wind tunnel though, although not sure how exactly that would be feasible without using a material like paper sheets to pressurise the tunnel
🇨🇿 Hi
Super 👍👍👍
Lego wind tunnel next
The rpm sounds like my PC RPM startup
... Pilotwings... 🥰
