That's only the first backstory. In the second backstory he's a robot that wanted to stop making bombs for an underground empire (which is apparently the Bungeling Empire from Raid on Bungeling Bay, Choplifter and most relevantly, Lode Runner), discovered there was a way to become human, escaped the empire and turned into Lode Runner from Lode Runner.
There's two more less detailed backstories before Bomberman '94 introduced Planet Bomber with the continuity the rest of the franchise followed. Act Zero obviously not withstanding. That game's main character is some nameless humanoid bomberman, not White Bomberman anyway.

@@nukezillagaming5198 I'm sure, because the purple block was placed upside down (3 square up, and the middle 1 down), leaving 1 space on the left (out of the screen because of the immediate zooming in), and then the blue L was placed exactly on that line.

Bomberman's old backstory: A robot slave who heard a rumour that he could become human if he made to through all floors of the bomb factory he worked at and got to the surface.
Bomberman's new backstory: An alien robot intergalactic protector. Who protects those planets by blowing large parts of them up. A bit counterintuitive there...
Act Zero's story: A cyborg slave fighting others of his (or her. You can be bomberwoman too in this one.) kind to the death to earn his freedom. Basically similar to OG but edgy. You die once and it's over. Back to the beginning.

Yet most people probably won't know what that is. I played the animal crossing port of the nes game and it seemed interesting. I doubt the skill ceiling is as high as the other games but who knows.

Bomberman Tetris sounds like a dope asymmetrical multiplayer game. If I knew how to program I’d make it. Player 1 plays Tetris trying to kill Player 2 who’s playing Bomberman.
This is actually perfect for a short because of how the screen is like on Tetris anyway. Bomberman just needs to have a better Tetris player and he will dominate

His backstory is greatly expanded upon in Bomberman Tournament, revealing him to be a native of the planet Phantarion who became a cyborg due to injuries sustained during the first invasion attempt of the Five Dastardly Bombers. Dr. Ein (also known as Professor Ein) is a scientist who assists Bomberman.

If he jump up right before the bomb exploded he might had been fine because the bomb only shoots in vertical and diagonal lines
Considering the size of the explosion lines, he didn't have enough room to do that.

There's kinda multiple origins of White Bomber. One where he's a human modified into a cyborg, in another he's just a powerful bomb-generating robot.
