To be fair, a crypto scheme is fairly different from a Ponzi scheme. You lose lots of money on either, so there are definitely some similarities. Ponzi schemes are often called Peter-Paul schemes (rob Peter to pay Paul). Some 'investment' quickly pays big dividends, but the dividends paid are the investments of newer victims (and people who are early and then get out tend to be fine... most people are greedy, though). Jospeh Ponzi was known as a finance guru who helped clients make lots of money quickly and easily. Ponzi schemes work fine so long as they keep growing, but they collapse when there's any stagnation. Cryptocurrency, NFTs, and stuff like that is more speculative (betting that the next guy will pay more). Not my idea of an investment either. Granted, I know relatively little about NFT-related things. Still, buying anything with the idea of easily reselling it for a huge profit is hardly a new idea (everyone wants to sell you a bridge in Brooklyn). Yeah, I don't blame Superman for renouncing his Kryptonian heritage in this version.
