In "Legends", the architect who built the Death Star really was tortured horribly by the Emperor. The poor guy was even essence-transferred into clone bodies so Palpatine could brutally murder him over and over again every time he screwed up even slightly from then on.
I have had 2 co-workers at different times in my life where I truly wish this was an option.
wait, so they can do this... but it was possible for anyone to die? There was an entire Jedi Order, basically every Sith... ever, some of the inquisitors and high-ranking officials were almost as dangerous as vader... and let's not forget that this story is based on 1970's/80's tech, so they basically have everything backed up on physical media...
@@nathanielbass771 It is a very esoteric power that only a very few Sith Lords possessed, and Palpatine did take advantage of it and used it to cheat death- in "Legends" (and implicitly in the sequels), he had his own clone bodies and uses them to survive the end of ROTJ, but those clones are unstable because he's become SO powerful and evil that most can't hold his essence for very long without falling apart, and ended up being vanquished by Luke, Leia and a bunch of Jedi ghosts.
Vader didn't know how to do this though, and neither did any Inquisitor. Jedi Masters didn't know it either and most wouldn't use it if they did as it stemmed from an immoral teaching- you have to know how to use your own essence to possess someone else first.
It also didn't hurt that palpy was figured out how to clone force user otherwise you had to take the chance if u could not overpower the persons will then you would be sent to the void (star wars hell)
Palpatine also locked his "son" in a dungeon. The man never had a name but his captors called him Triclops due to his mutation.

Actually, it does because those are specific JEDI robes. Apparently it was very easy to hunt down the surviving JEDI after Order 66 because apparently they didn't think to do change their robes.

I have to get this out. Han was wanted dead or alive, and knew that bounty hunter almost always took his captures in dead, so yes he shot first in pre-self defence, and back in the day we all knew that and George might have forgotten because of pressures, am I the ONLY one who remembers what the by-line was? I really got to know does ANYONE else remember?

the ironic thing is leia actually took years after the fall of the empire to forgive anakin but if I recall a force hoilcron found by luke was the reason he ended up forgiving his father..so like actually healed quicker than leia on the matter...my mother in law has prison for life for killing 2 kids herself and me and my wife will never forgive her for it..sometimes forgiveness isn't an option and if I were them I would of never forgiven anakin.. especially since it's shown he didn't truely lose himself and become vader until mustafar.. he may have been known as Vader during that time but he truthfully didn't become Vader and so the Battle of mustafar.. because in another segments I've watched on CZcams it shows that anakin was having doubts that he could even slaughter the younglings.. he still had a conscience.. he was not fully lost to the dark side during the youngling slaying.. the fact that he hesitated to even do so at first and thought about stepping back and not doing it shows he still had a decent amount of light during the march on the jedi temple..he had a chance to not kill them and he instead did so I can't forgive someone who has control of the situation but chose to kill them instead of the alternative..at that time he still had padme to!
