3-year-old who wowed 'Windy City LIVE' audience with 'Hey, Black Child' poem reading writes a book

- As "Windy City LIVE" nears its final episode on Sept. 3, we're checking in with some of our most memorable guests. Remember Pe’Tehn Raighn-Kem Jackson? She wowed our audience with a reading of Useni Perkins' poem "Hey, Black Child" when she was just 3 years old and then returned for an encore when she was 4. She's just turned 10 and is quite the busy young lady, writing her own books, doing voiceovers and acting in episodes of "The Chi" on Showtime!

Her parent did good teaching her she is so intelligent.
At three years old, Payton was gorgeous and amazing! Firstly, to create that poem and secondly to memorize her poem. And lastly, at three, she knew exactly what she was writing about and how to say the words! She’s amazing in the manner in which she articulates!! Also, tell the young lady who hosts to NEVER ask a child which sibling is their favorite!!! It’s indelicate and could hurt a relationship between siblings cause someone thought they were being funny. They weren’t. Also, be careful what you say to a child cause they are like Elephants, they NEVER FORGET! It will come back to haunt you. In this case, Val and Payton got equal chances of learning from each other and sharping new things together! A rewarding experience for both of them those lucky girls
Yes but she didn't write the poem she did when she was three. It was written by Useni Eugene Perkins
