Every time she said “hey, black child….” My face erupted in a huge smile! She not only smart, but has great timing as well. Beautiful beautiful child, pretty baby, hope their little boy will stand out too, and with this little girl as big sis, I know he will! I’m a poet myself, and she blew me away with her reading!❤️
Not from the US but I noticed how black children really can articulate so well at young ages in America, confident children too. Bless those little souls.

SOME black children can, as you say, articulate, etc... SOME children of ANY race, color, or creed can do extraordinary things. SOME are naturally gifted, SOME are taught--- as this little cutie has been. SOME children are gifted but, are never recognized bcz of poverty, injustice, environment, beliefs.... but to say "...black children can..." do whatever is an injustice to all other children who ALSO can.... so, i found that to be a strange comment. bless all children, bless all ppl, bless you...

@Teneshia Smith thiae were the racist hun, but I do believe some black women most likely down voted it too, it’a not about them being miserable they just want to discourage blacks/mixed people from reaching their full potential we must be elegant, polished, educated and respected like the Chinese and Asians are and the best way to do that if to leave all the ratchet behaviour/mindset and street talk behind. She is very common, all my nieces and nephews are like her, well-balanced fun but also highly intelligent and advanced.
I agree. We need to instill positivity and encouragement in our babies at an early age. Television programs are good at promoting everything under the sun. Why not encouragement!! Little one's are dealing with adult issues, no fault of their own. Let's spread positivity instead of negativity.

I am truly stunned. The emphasis on each individual word blew me out of the water. The poem alone is beyond powerful, but from the performance of a child makes it more effective, methinks. This fellow Chicago poet is going places!!
